What if Puzzle and Dragons wasn't a puzzling game, but had legitimate JRPG battles instead. Would it be any better? Maybe! Anyway, that's my elevator pitch for this game. Exciting battles! Famous VAs doing their thing. Valatar posted:How to Yoda: a primer. See this post here? Click it and read it if you want a good example of how complex some of the characters can be in this game with their skills. A lot of characters above the lowest rarity (R) have at least some interesting interaction between their skills. Even if it's as simple as Hazen whose healing and defense skills change to be damage and attack buffing skills when he uses this third skill that takes the hit for another character. There's a wealth of design space and the developers have really used it to great effect. And even is some of the ideas don't work out in practice (Beatrix) at least they are still interesting in concept. How much money am I going to spend? Potentially none! There's enough content to be grinded out that you likely will never have to drop a dime. And if you do get tempted there are ways to bypass the Gatcha and get exactly the character you want. This game does give out a lot of free stuff via events too. Well, free except the time investment. But at least the gameplay is fun. Is it Pay to Win? Not in a way that'll directly effect you. There's no PVP and all the multiplayer content is Co-Op so anyone whaling out is more likely to help than be a hindrance. It's Finally in English!? Yeah, sort of. There's now an option in the settings menu to change the vast majority of text to English. To change to English, tap the circle in the top right corner of the screen that says "Menu" (in English), then there's a copper button with gears next to it. Tap that one. You'll get a list of blue buttons and at the very bottom will be one that includes the English text "Language." Tap that. There's a drop down box, change that to English and then tap the button that includes the text "Save Changes" in English. Then the game will be in English. Getting Started: The best way to play nowadays is through a browser, but there's also a version Play Store, (probably not going to be able to use this) and a Chrome app, or you could just access the Mobage site on a mobile browser. But depending on your device the normal browser version could be fine too. And then just follow all the instructions in the English Language Guide linked below. Resources: The JP Wiki: http://gbf-wiki.com/ An English language guide for getting started: http://gbf-english.proboards.com/thread/240/granblue-fantasy-ultimate-guide A pretty good tier list of characters: http://xiei.moe/games/granblue-fantasy/charactertierlists/ English Wiki FAQ: https://granblue-wiki.com/index.php?title=FAQ Progression Guide, unfinished but still helpful: http://xiei.moe/games/granblue-fantasy/granblue-fantasy-progression-guide-ver-alpha/ Rerolling: Do you need to reroll a bunch of accounts to get started? The short answer is no, but the long answer is that it depends. You could wait until there's a Legend Festival where SSR characters go from 3% to 6%. But if you want to play now there's not a huge downside. There are plenty of good SR characters (Rarity goes N > R > SR > SSR) and even the very first Story character you're given is a top tier SR character for their element. Class, Characters, Weapons and Summons The most complex thing about GBF is how much stuff there is to set for your party. First off you have your main character, Gran or Djeeta, (you can switch any time) and they have a class. Your class determines which skills you get and which weapon types your main weapon can be. Most skills you unlock can then be slotted into your Subskill slot as any other class. This includes different ranks of the same skill. So you can be a Hawkeye which grants Bounty Hunter III and still equip Bounty Hunter II from the Raider class. For Characters you have five slots. Three active and two sub. When your active or main characters are defeated they're replaced by the sub character slots. For Weapons you have one Main Weapon and then nine other slots. The main weapon is the only one restricted by class and it's element determines the element of your main character's damage. Finally for Summons you have one main Summon and four sub Summon slots. Only your main Summon grants their Aura skill. Whenever you go into a quest you generally pick a friend or rando's Summon to help out to. You get their Aura skill AND they're much quicker to Summon. Support Summons Don't forget to set these! In your Profile near the bottom is space that shows all your support summons. Generally you want to fill these so that your friends can reap all the benefits of friendship. Why are my weapons giving me lower stats? Some weapons have a rank requirement. As long as you're under this rank you don't get the full benefit of the weapon. Goon Crews Crews are the GBF equivalent to Guilds. They provide various things like buffs to the members and each Crew can set a Strike Time where you get various bonuses for playing during like starting with full Charge bars in Raids. You have to reach chapter 4 before you can join a crew.
This is the best way to get into a crew and to find people to do raids and co-op with. Even if the thread seems slow, we are very active on Discord. Potsticker fucked around with this message at 16:57 on Jul 21, 2016 |

Updates and can be set to use an alert sound or pop. Free Items! Did you know if you tap that Town > button on the right side of the main screen you can get some extra items by tapping the little sparkly glowing things? Tapping them again after you've gotten the item gives some flavor text as well. How about that if you tap them in a certain order you'll a special one time gift! Two of them are free Legend Gatcha draws! This link has the specific order the screen needs to be tapped, including screenshots if you scroll down the page. I Missed the Free Items! How do I Go Back? There's a World button on the Menu screen and on the main Quest screen on the top left. Tap it and you can travel back to previous islands to check out the towns or to go back and complete Free Quests or to challenge the Bosses. What Should I Spend Crystals on? The first thing you probably want to get is going to be a Weapon Stash for 500 crystals. This gives you 100 more space to hold weapons. This is helpful for holding on to all the xp fodder you might get during events or just have a place to stash all those R character weapons you can't bear to throw away. Otherwise horde those crystals like a miser until a Legend Gala (aka legfest) where SSR rates rise and then spend them on 10-rolls for 3000 crystals. Drakes wrote up a much more in depth post down further on the page. I just started, can I get some direction? Read the guide and FAQ I linked in the first post. There's a lot of good stuff there and I realize the Guide is dense and includes stuff that you won't really have to worry about until far into the game, but it should give you a good idea of whats involved in this game. Outside of that, the simplest direction is to look at the class requirements for Dark Fencer and start working on that. Remember to try to fill your weapon pool with a single element to get the best bonuses. Do your Co-op missions every day for the rewards, don't be afraid to host your own rooms. Look at the schedule for Angel Halo dungeons and once you do the starred one, make sure you Favorite it so the game will tell you when it opens again each day. Okay, I've been playing a bit, got any other good advice? Tsurupettan posted:Do your hards every day if you're into the nitty-gritty spergy parts of the game. Especially so if you have the capability to clear them with SR/R teams (like if you have Yoda). What the heck is a Magna? There's a couple of common terms that you might see floating around that were translated differently than what the community was used to using. So Magna for instance is Omega. Ougi is now Charge Attack. Major League Baseball??? MLB is short for Max Limit Break. It means you uncapped the Character/Weapon/Summon to the full amount of stars available. Which character is _____? Birdman = Nezahualpilli Old Man = Cagliostro Yoda = Yodarha, specifically his SSR version. No one talks about his R version. Vampy = Vania Monkey = Anchira Char = Gawain My first 10 roll gave me Walder. limbohead posted:That is the tutorial roll. You get Walder every time and nothing else. The two single rolls you'll do after that 10 roll are your actual rolls. Potsticker fucked around with this message at 17:35 on Aug 1, 2016 |

What are the most useful rewards for a new player to try and get from the current raid event? Also, thanks for the tip on clicking in town. The best reward if you haven't gotten it yet is the Fire Knife Flohrenberk. It comes fully level broken and its skill at level 100 allows you to get more points in these events. Plus it has good stats. In addition you probably want to leech Agni Raids for gold badges to collect the items there. As a new player you're not going to be able to benefit much from the multiplier on Four Symbol Pendants so feel free to join a bunch of lowered BP Raids. The Four Symbol Pendants carry over to the next event too, so even if you can't afford the Knife yet (since there's less than 24 hours left in it now) don't worry too much and pick it up on the next one. Use the guaranteed SSR ticket now, since it will expire in seven days, but the 10 draw ticket does not expire, so don't use it until a boosted rarity event is going on.

We probably could use use a short guide to spending crystals. One of the most helpful first purchases is the weapon stash which is 500 crystals for 100 slots, being better value than adding more slots to your weapon pool but requires withdrawing/depositing management. Great for dumping weapon fodder or gacha SSRs into, or SRs/Rs you're not ready to break/use yet. Hoarding or breaking gacha SSRs is up to you, some of the dual skill ones maybe useful if they lean towards offensive skills. Gacha SRs can be safely broken down into materials to upgrade your weapons/summons later. Summon stash is less useful due to your summon pools being smaller and summon drops being less common from everything. But can be nice when you've got some gacha summons you're unsure what to do with, never break gacha summons unless you're 100% sure what you're going for. 100 crystals for 10 weapon slots becomes more useful when you start having specialized weapon pools for each element, worse value than stash when it comes to storage but it allows you to field more weapon pools without sifting in/out of storage. Basically buy one of these when you find yourself with a specialized pool for an element. And lastly hoard your crystals/draw tickets for legend fest that occurs at the end/start of months, SSR rates double to 6% and lean more towards characters with SSR variants of story characters coming into the pool for a few days. And don't get baited into rolling for the occasional limited time characters that show up outside of legend fest, the rates are harsh and you can easily need 100+ rolls for an ok shot of rolling that rate up character. If you're going deep into this hit the draw rate button and make sure their rates are boosted!

You can usually get 300+ from most events via titles/trophies, but the most I've gotten are from random rear end promotions. Usually whenever Granblue hits another million+ milestone there'll be some kinda promotion, stuff given alway varies heavily.

Oh, here's a good tip that people can learn from my own mistake. It's far better to keep multiple copies of the SR/SSR drops you get from events rather than limit breaking them right away. Three max leveled 0 star SSR weapons will be far more helpful in general than one 3 star weapon you may not have the xp to max out.
