If Johansson refused a major role due to whitewashing, it would be a huge deal, and would set a standard that producers would have to take into account. She is personally to blame, because she is one of a handful of reliable box office draws and can actually make a real difference in a way few other people can. She needs to be given poo poo for this, because really, she isn't going to magically make ethical decisions because we wished she would really hard.
