This is a fun show, very similar to Attack on Titan in general, but lots of specific touches to the world design that make it much different. I don't know how they're affording this level of production value though, and I hope it doesn't lead to plummeting quality as the series goes on. It's strange to see an action show from the noitaminA block.

I had high hopes that they wouldn't make Biba cartoonishly evil, even though he was menacing. I hoped maybe they would make his actions more subtle, and he'd slowly undo the forces against him like Griffith did in Berserk before some action makes him really go for broke. Instead this show introduced him and in less than 2 episodes had him do some absolutely crazy poo poo, even when he wasn't sure it would work.

It's bad pacing plus it makes him look like an idiot who was a hair away from getting killed in his own plan. This show has way nicer production values than the original Berserk anime ever had, and manages to gently caress it all up with rubbish execution.

It just went from zero to sixty to me too fast, and his plan wasn't even that good. Maybe they're trying to show he's flawed and desperate despite seeming so calm and composed all the time?

I can handle some of the characters being dumb but not all of them. Pink lady with blue samurai bodyguard is the only one who seems to still have some sense.
