I read a short story in about the 4th grade (55 years ago, or so...) about a teenage boy whose clueless businessman father helps him buy a first car. The father finds what he thinks is a good used sedan, but the boy wants to restore a barn find - a '37 Ferritaglia, which doesn't run, or even roll. Against his better judgement, the father agrees, and the boy works hard to restore the car, while also doing his schoolwork and having a part-time job to pay for the work on the car. The father doesn't understand the technicalities of the work, but, when being ribbed in a business meeting for allowing the son to buy a junker, uses one of the phrases his son shared about the car to impress the other suits about his own automobile knowledge, of which he actually has none.

So, I remember the plot, but not the author, title, or the anthology in which it can be found. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Paul
