I think I'm competitive in Virtua FIghter with Jeffrey, but it's not like I've faced the fiercest comp in the states. I'm pretty much undefeated on any You Don't Know Jack volume before they introduced pub-quiz scoring in 2011. I've ascended nethack on NAO with most classes. I've beaten GOD HAND without yes man kablaam abuse. Despite playing for thousands of hours, I've yet to beat X-COM: UFO Defense on Superhuman. Although I usually lose interest once I've got psionics up and running.

In Training posted:thought about this today, that even though I play a lot of games I've never really mastered any to an impressive degree. the closest I've come is running speedier clears of Metroid games using sequence breaks and glitches but even those take me a lot of attempts. and even though I've played 500 hours of souls games I still die all the time because I play without any sense of caution. I completely mastered crash team racing.

I was really goddamn good at Bad Company 2. I good a few games. Pokémon Trading Card Game GBC is just a game I know way to much about because of all the times i replayed it as a kid. I have a mental map of what Clubs to tackle in order, when Ronald will show up, when dome tournaments happened and I use to know who I had to fight to get the cards I want to make a deck. Ape Escape: On the Loose, and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga were games I use to beat yearly until college. Sonic CD and Sonic Rush I love a whole bunch that I unlock everything but the pencil test in CD and S or A ranked every stage in Rush at one point. Hammerin' Hero I was able to be on National Treasure (Very Hard mode) I think I know where every hidden gem is in Ristar at this point. No matter how long its been since I lasted played I can always play Super Mario Bros 2 and New Super Mario Bros. and lastly I got S rank in Splatoon and have been playing it since it first cam out.

S rank Splatoon is legit. The furthest I ever got was A- for like a day. Sometimes I think about picking it up again but I imagine the people still playing are freakishly good. Spla2ne will be a day one purchase for me though.

I moved into a new apartment around the same time that the translation of Cave Story came out and didn't have internet for a whole month so I just played that game whenever I had the chance. I beat it on normal mode, then hell mode and then a third time beating hell with no health powerups. It was hard as gently caress but it felt so good when I got it.

I can do pretty much every stage in Sonic 2 to speedrun-level times, yet I've never had the time nor patience to actually sit down and attempt a proper speedrun. I usually cruise through the first few stages flawlessly then hit a stray bumper at a weird angle in the casino night zone and get too frustrated to carry on/start over again.

My crew played marvel 3 religiously when that was out but the local fighting game SCENE hadn't really started yet. I like smash but that's all those fuckers play now. Ryu - Haggar - Dormammu for the win. I wish they would bring it to current gen but I guess they lost the marvel license?
