Isn't That Right, Chairman?

So I'll just get it out of the way.

Apparently the Watchmen are now in mainline DC continuity. Batman finds the Comedian's smiley face pin with the blood on it, and narrates "WE WERE BEING WATCHED."

I really hope this is a huge red herring and Johns is just loving with us.

Also pre-N52 Wally West is back and also there are four Jokers now?

Also apparently the JSA are back.

I don't think the JSA and Wally being back are worth seeing the Watchmen in mainline continuity.

Alright, let's...let's just stay calm for right now. They wouldn't ACTUALLY bring the Watchmen to mainline canon, right?

It's got to just be Johns trying to ruse us. Let's just...wait for the full comic so we can see things in context.

Wally is in his Kid Flash costume (Whyyy) and is apparently now the leader of the Teen Titans, so I really don't know if it's all worth it. :sigh:

The image I saw showed four, but I think I misinterpreted the page. The Watchmen thing got to me and made me not think straight for a bit.

Heck, I'm practically more apprehensive about this Wally West thing. So we're getting the original white guy, in addition to the young black version who's been appearing?

Original white guy is leading the Titans, young black guy is a member of the Teen Titans.

...Are the Titans and the Teen Titans two different teams? Honestly lmao either way

Teen Titans are Damien Wayne leading the team of Beast Boy, Raven, Starfire, and N52-Wally.

Titans are the team of Nightwing, Donna Troy, Arsenal, Garth, and Lilith, who are now apparently led by pre-N52 Wally.

I think.

I don't know if it's a good idea if true, but I have to give them credit for just loving going for something they know is going to be super controversial if it is.

I mean that's not just an idea you toss out there and say "Let's see if this works" this is a pretty major deal. It's taking a huge chance.

I can't loving believe I'm going to say this, but they can at least justify it.

Bleeding Cool's article talks about it being set up with Manhattan wanting to create life at the end of Watchmen, and there's a few pages in Before Watchmen that show him doing just that. It's utterly terrible and awful, but at least they have a way to connect the birth of the New 52 to Watchmen, as flimsy as it may be.

Toxxupation posted:

I mean, there's pictures of the page, Rhyno. You can literally see it with your own eyes.

I've yet to see the page blaming Manhattan yet, just the page with Batman finding the button. I'm not sure if I want to wait until Wednesday now or just say gently caress it and go all in.

I wonder how Alan Moore is going to respond

I have no doubt he keeps an empty grave in the backyard of his castle, for the sole purpose of crawling into every time something like this happens, just so he can roll around in it.

It's not Joker's Daughter. We have the page that shows the three Jokers.

I realize that Alan Moore has been screwed over many times and everything, but...what the hell? So he doesn't want writers to reference or use anything that other writers have done with a character or universe?

It's especially hilarious when one considers how much of Moore's own material riffs off or directly uses the work of others.

I will never understand DC's fixation on having a war comic in the early stages of the N52.

War comics are a pretty big part of DC's history, and they were trying to have lots of variety in their early N52 stuff. Not just superhero comics, but war comics, horror, etc.

Because there was plenty of good in the New 52 too.

And Sword of Sorcery starred Amethyst of Gemworld. I wish that book had actually went somewhere because Amethyst is neat. :sigh:
