There's a new edition of Villains & Vigilantes currently funding, but I don't know enough about V&V (apart from it being the first superhero RPG back in the day) to really comment.

My oldest undelivered is still Far West, which will be reaching the 5-year anniversary of funding on Thursday.

I've had four tabletop RPG projects that have just stopped due to the writers pretty much vanishing off Kickstarter with the money: Topher Gerkey's Monsterhearts setting, David Hill's Fate mecha game ", and Stab City. Also technically the two Last Stand kickstarters, but I know about the circumstances behind that.

Which, considering I'm just over 200 backed projects (:smithicide:) is actually not a bad success/failure rate.

The reason GMS gets treated the way he does is because he also has a long history of being terrible to people online. He's been banned from pretty much every major RPG forum due to constantly arguing with everyone, he gets into G+/Twitter fights, and he's alienated pretty much everyone in the industry. He's a self-proclaimed left-wing liberal who uses "SJW" as an insult, figure that poo poo out.

Like, back when he still held the Icons licence, he took preorders for the Icons Team-Up book. But after his publisher Cubicle-7 cut ties with him, GMS told everyone who preordered that not only would they not be getting their expected hardcopies, but also that he wasn't going to give anyone cash refunds at all; you were only getting Adamant store credit and that was that, and if you have a problem with that then gently caress you.

That's why he's got such bad reputation.

Yeah, while I'm not super-interested in the Anniversary book (I still have my originals, and the system hasn't aged well), I do like that Pinnacle has been putting out campaigns that let the PCs be the ones who take down the main bad guys themselves instead of watching NPCs do it in cutscenes.

Evil Mastermind

Hell On Earth Reloaded kind of split the difference on metaplot; the big nutbag battle between the Reckoners and everyone else still happened, but the assumption is that HoE: Reloaded takes place shortly thereafter, with the Reckoners gone and all the major NPCs off the table, allowing PCs (or others) to fill in the voids.

Demon Gate: apocalyptic fantasy tabletop role-playing game

quote:

The system and mechanics are solid and have been play tested for about 20 years thus I have no worries as far as the system goes.

quote:

We use a dice level system for skills and attributes so each time you increase your skill or attribute you move up a new level or rank on your dice. For example: you might start with a Perception attribute of 10, on the dice table it shows you that you will roll a d6 when making a perception check. You can now roll this to match or beat a target number for success. If you advance in your perception attribute you will be rolling a d8 now. As you gain more points to an attribute your die or dice will increase. d8 to d10, d12, then to 2d6, d8+d6, 2d8, etc. You can go up pretty high to the point where you are rolling three dice together.

For combat though, you use a d20. The d20 is resisted by your enemy so you roll a d20 to hit with the result being the target number that the defender must match or beat in order to successfully defend, block, or dodge your attack. The d20 is given a modifier due to your skill in the weapon, or a + to defend due to your quickness or cover. You can roll critical hits to attack, as well you can roll critical defense and gain a quick riposte back at your enemy! It does make combat a great deal of fun. Also armor soaks damage in this game. If you are hit by an attack and take 20 damage, but have an armor class of 5, you will only suffer 15 damage.

In non-pretentious project news, [url="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/821979583/interface-zero-20-cyberpunk-action-for-the-pathfin"Gun Metal Games are kickstarting a Pathfinder version of Interface Zero 2.0[/url]. I backed the Savage Worlds and Fate Core versions, and David Jarvis has been delivering like a mofo. IZ is a solid cyberpunk setting with elements of more modern ideas like transhumanism, and also remembers that the world outside the US exists and actually covers what's going on in other countries.

quote:

Interface Zero 2.0 is a cyberpunk setting…Sort of. Interface Zero is inspired by a plethora of sources including novels such as Neuromancer, Mona Lisa Overdrive, Burning Chrome, Count Zero, Altered Carbon, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, and Snow Crash.

Anime such as Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Psycho Pass, Ghost in the Shell, Battle Angel Alita and Appleseed help to round out a vision of our world, incorporating eastern and western influences on the genre.

The result is a setting that echoes other popular cyberpunk games, but focuses more on geopolitical intrigue and action rather than the familiar roles of megacorporations as the major antagonists. That doesn’t mean that corporations aren’t powers unto themselves, with their own agendas, both altruistic and nefarious, however.
I'm still getting stuff from the original SW project on a pretty regular basis, and that delivered the core book like two years ago.

On the plus side, they're going to actually take the time to describe the setting. Oh, and ten pantheons this time around. And it seems like you can start play as a mortal and get your powers later.

Also: $85 for the two books you need to play at the actual "Scion: Hero" campaign level.

A.E.G.I.S. is a game about giant combining robots. You like giant combining robots, right?

I've had the chance to play this a few times in the past, and I really enjoyed it. The way it works is that you put together a team of five robots of various types (attack, evasive, guard) for a squad-vs-squad battle. Each robot contributes to an Energy pool, and you spend from that pool to activate each robot's attacks or abilities. Using abilities involves rolling d6's to beat a number or get matches.

And, of course, you can combine different robots to make new, bigger robots. Which robots you can create via combining is dependent on the ones you have on your team, so you have to build your core team of five with an eye to that. Combined robots will provide less energy, but have better abilities, so you have to be aware of the best time to do it. It's also possible to block an opponent's combiner by destroying one of the needed robots.

And yes, you can combine combined robots into even better robots. You can jam your whole squad together Voltron-style if need be.

Like I said, I really like this game. It's a simple, small-footprint strategy game at a decent price point. Plus there's 40 different robots in the box, so you've got a lot of variety.
