Baylor's gonna hire Mike Singletary, aren't they.

^^^ They'll ride Coach O to the end of the season before sending a dump truck full of money west down I-10; I really doubt they'll make a hire before then Miles' son, Ben, is committed to Nebraska; let's find a cushy QC gig for him or something

Vance Bedford was with him there, too. Strong brought him with him from UF.

Purdue plays @Illinois this weekend and hosts Iowa next Saturday. Assuming they drop both, Hazell's not making the trip to Lincoln, I reckon?

Well, Les Miles would probably take the ND job I guess

Thoguh posted:Gotta think somebody is going to try to get NDSU's coach this offseason, especially since he's kept it going at NDSU while Bohl has flailed at Wyoming. So it's easy to buy that he was the source of their success all along. Wyoming is 4-2 right now with losses @ Nebraska and Eastern Michigan; they'll likely finish with a winning record

Here's the names Tom Dienhart spitballed in a column he likely had in the hopper for a few weeksquote:Some names you’ll probably hear for the job include Illinois State’s Brock Spack, Western Michigan’s P.J. Fleck, ex-LSU coach Les Miles, Cal’s Sonny Dykes, Louisiana-Lafayette coach Mark Hudspeth, Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, South Florida’s Willie Taggart and Western Kentucky coach Jeff Brohm, among others. Yep, Lane in Lafayette

Purdue elevated WR Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Gerad (not Gerald) Parker to interim. Had my fingers crossed they'd give it to the DC, Ross Els, who was our LB coach in the last few years of the Pelini era, and may be the worst position coach I can recall us having since the 90s (Purdue comes to Lincoln this Saturday) C. Everett Koop posted:Purdue isn't a job anyone with big-time aspirations is going to take. Fleck can do better, as can Les Miles. I think Dykes has settled his beef with Cal but who knows. Lane also isn't taking that job, and Taggart/Brohm can hold out for a better gig. Like I said, I think he had those names ready to plug into any open P5 job. Probably should update it, too; I don't think Mark Hudspeth is a particularly hot name anymore.

A top tweet from Pete DiPrimio of the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel https://twitter.com/pdiprimio/status/787776034175410177 Akers was at Purdue from 1987 to 1990, but I guess yeah, be careful what you wish for or something

I didn't realize Brock Spack was Tiller's DC at Purdue, and an alum. Illinois State is 2-4 this year, but went 23-5 the past two seasons.

I don't think Pelini is ready to leave home again. He's still probably enjoying the (relative) lack of spotlight.MourningView posted:Spack lucked into a QB transfer who was way too good to be playing FCS for his two big years, otherwise he's been pretty whatever. If you're gonna go to that level there are lots of guys with a better overall resumes just in the Missouri Valley. This can't be overstated

Hey let's see what SBN's Purdue guy has to say http://www.hammerandrails.com/2016/11/21/13699320/purdue-football-coaching-search-les-miles-pj-fleck-greg-olson-troy-calhoun quote:If Purdue is going to announce a hire this week by Sunday I think that makes Miles the favorite. I base this on complete conjecture and no inside information whatsoever. I think it just makes sense because Miles has been out there looking at the job landscape and has been very public about his plans in terms of coordinators and everything else. Naming him the successor this week would also lock him up before something bigger comes along. Texas could be interested. Notre Dame might come open and he would be a good fit. A few other programs could open up. Yep, sure

The Frost hire would be hard to justify, given that you're replacing an ex-Oregon OC with another But Scott just needs to hold the course for another two years, at which point Mike Riley gets fired for going 4-8
