So. This game turned into a loss. I'm pissed as hell about it and so I'm just dumping the remaining backlog up onto Youtube tonight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJaRa9mAFmQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKrvCGQhS_s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZThbo8Jyr8 Enjoy the failure. Next game will be Inca but I'm probably going to revisit this one at least a little first.

Well played Captain. I haven't watched the remaining videos yet but it looks like your neighbors turned out to be less vanquished than you expected. I guess you could have burned them all down? But that would have slowed down everything. Tough game.

It seems like the biggest issues were going liberty instead of tradition, which hardly had any benefits in your situation, taking half of the honor tree instead of starting rationalism earlier, and also rushing for dynamite instead of scientific theory and industrialism. It doesn't seem like artillery were really that crucial since the dutch were the least of your problems, and I reckon gatling guns and cannon would have sufficed.

That was a really terrible distribution of starting places. you've got You, Amsterdam, America, Mongolia, and Iroquois all within shouting distance of each other, and then Babylon and India alone on a land mass of comparable size, and then the Inca having the whole place to themselves. If they'd just scooped up Amsterdam and plopped it down somewhere on Pachacuti's continent you wouldn't have gotten rolled like that.

It is actually somewhat plausible although highly unlikely that a wooden ship could be able to capture a non-nuclear submarine. There were captures of U-Boats during World War 2, usually after they were damaged significantly in major battles. One even was in good enough shape to be tugged to the Bahamas from somewhere in the Atlantic not next to the Bahamas.

Too bad about the game, I could absolutely hear the mounting frustration with each episode. Best of luck with the next game! I'll be finished my own Civ V LP soon and hope you enjoy it as well!

Just a status update folks. Haven't been well the last few days. Civ will resume once I can stop worrying about OD'ing on painkillers and I'm in a fit state to record again.

I'm surprised you didn't get any guff for curb stomping Monty. I find early game wars usually make everyone turn on you, but maybe Monty being the one to declare is why you're good. It was only self defense, after all.

Fargle, how do the terrace farms factor into this campaign? We don't seem to be building too many of them, and, from what I can tell, the terrain bonus is a much bigger deal here. How far off am I with this perception*? * On a Scale of Ogg from 1 to 10 Old Grey Guy fucked around with this message at 15:56 on Sep 6, 2016 |
