when people complain about separate "code bases", what are they talking about?

like they says oh yeah we could write native apps, but you see the problem is we would have separate code bases.

surely they don't just mean desperate code for thin client that just do API calls and draw stuff on a screen , right? like that's a given.

are you BYOD? if not make the dude a deal, be like, yeah i'll back up everything at my own cost but only if i work on my own devices cause then it's a personal expense too to back it up.

if you're talking about servers then just let your boss and co-workers move into your home and use your own server this is my advice
