TFall1 was like then when you were a pilot: fast movement, wall-running parkour, and short TTK. Once you got into a titan, it became much more positional and slower paced. One of my favorite parts was the blend of the CoD and Halo styles of OHKs for pilots and regenerating shields for titans.

At a guess: BF does better on PCs and Titanfall sold better (and had a more viable player base) on consoles. They probably don't really see them as competing, since they appeal to different markets. That's one of the reasons they never really bothered to nerf the shotgun/satchel combo: it was only a problem on PC where fast movement and twitch-mousing meant you could OHK anyone within reach. Console players never developed a meta like that because their control-scheme didn't really allow for it.

This is my biggest worry, because I really enjoyed the Tribes-like speed of movement that parkouring around the maps provided. Dumbing all of that down, since the console players never figured out that TF was more than "CoD with Mechs," seems likely. Even more so when you see a bunch of streamers who can't figure out that there even is a jump button...

Well, the first game released in March/April of 2014 (it's been >4 years??? :smith:

), which isn't exactly prime Bideo James season, and TF2 got c-blocked by CoD releasing the same week or some absurdity...

This series deserves a bigger fanbase, but here we are...

TF2 combat felt really slow until I realized stim was MP only. :shrug:

I loved the campaign in TF1, I just wish it had been possible to play it after the first month. TF2 had way better set pieces (fuckin' time-travel parkour :woop:

) but I enjoyed the radio-play narrative you got from listening to grunts and briefings in TF1's online campaign. Also, the grunt-drop at the end of the IMC campaign was one of the coolest gaming-moments for me.

TF2 MP seemed a little better since the meta on PC went beyond shotty/satchels, but that's just me.

I'm fine if I just rebought the campaign since I last played it on PS4, worth it to play that again, but I did give them their $2.50 for the deluxe edition with what I assume is multiplayer doodads.

Extra $2.50 unlocks all of the titans/weapons in MP, makes things a little more fun since there are a ton of Gen50 publords out there.

Game is not dead, MP is still fun, even if you're rusty!

I could live without titans in a 60 player pilot fest. But if this is just BR: Grunt Edition and the closest thing we see to actual TF gameplay is a hero version of a pilot or titan imma be sad. :smith:

Yeah, essentially EA is a giant profit scheme and the suits at the top think everything can be a yearly franchise like what EA Sports or COD cranks out.

Forcing studios into that never-ending crunch, with design decisions made by a board room, burns out the dev team and wrings out whatever creativity they had. :shrug:

but dat fuckn ROI tho... :homebrew:

For people watching the stream - did they show any characters yet? Does it look titianfally? Or like Overwatch?

MRVN is definitely there, the weapons are recognizable, but the character design (haven't seen any of it confirmed) looks a bit more cartoonish; which would be expected from a F2P game.

The medic looks the silliest, but some of the other models from the stream look like colorful grunts from TF.

2016 really seemed like the return of the Fast FPS. Titanfall 2, Doom, Shadow Warrior 2, even COD was trying its hand at movement options, for what it's worth. And then they everyone decided "wallrunning is hard" so rip I guess.
