That's pretty wild for a Zelda. I guess it implies that story content and "main thread" content are very different from each other. Hard to wrap my head around that unless the story is heavily tied to the shrines whereas the main thread ("Kill Ganon"?) is tied to the dungeons?

This Link is the type of hero to just book it to Dagoth Ur's place without even going through all the proper story threads. He doesn't have TIME for that poo poo so he shield-boards up a volcano.

Apparently a Nintendo booth rep said you could use dog based amiibo but was probably just mistaken and meant Wolf Link or something.

But man if I could use one of the Animal Crossing dogs to venture alongside Link just like the Wolf Link amiibo can I'd be all for it.

The Duck Hunt one would also work in this hypothetical scenario, but I don't know how effective he'd actually be.

It probably would have been an amiibo feature giving how that roster lines up with the available Zelda amiibo at the time. I think the 3DS had barely been updated to be amiibo compatible at the time of the game's release though and the reader for the old style models wasn't even out yet so maybe I'm off here.

That MM fishing just blew my loving mind until I realized that it was only on the 3DS version. I was wondering how I could have no idea that existed even though I beat the game countless times on N64.

Fishing was actually supposed to be in Majora's Mask, at least early on in development. Specifically they said you could catch a fish as big as Lord Jabu-Jabu if not the big guy himself. It makes sense this would be something they'd play around with since MM was all about using a bunch of assets already made and creating a new environment to play around with them in. Using the already existing fishing engine and trying to catch the gigantic fish they already made seems to gel well with that idea.

Of course even in MM3D Chapu-Chapu isn't as big as his Hyrulean counterpart, but it's something at least.

The best additions to MM 3D are the aesthetic ones, and not necessarily graphic wise because I know some people think it's too bright but the new context they put on walls and previously barren areas. Graffiti in the Bomber's Hideout, charts and poo poo in the bomb shop and the laboratory at the cape. There's even a volume of...something hidden underneath the bed of the fisherman at his hut and it's either a comic book or straight up pornography. It could just be a regular old book I'll admit, this is E for Everyone after all. But again this is the NPC that specifically asks you to get him a picture of a pirate in order to progress through the game.

Dream Land is another dimension our scientists have yet to fully understand.

You'd think an anniversary special game where all the various Links team up to fight evil would be a fun time but they don't really interact with each other all that much and just make shifty eyes at each other.

Except for Wolf Link from TP he gets along with everyone he just wants a belly rub. He doesn't care if it's from someone that's technically himself from a divergent timeline.

I'm guessing the reason we don't actually have any concrete details on what the dungeon, story, and even the new Hard Mode will be (aside from the fact they haven't started substantial work on it yet?) is that they'll design those things to balance out criticisms of the main game over the next few months.

ESRB description:

quote:

Content Descriptors: Fantasy Violence, Mild Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol
Rating Summary: This is an adventure game in which players assume the role of Link on a quest to stop a growing evil in the land of Hyrule. As players explore the open-world environment, they can forage for materials, explore shrines, and engage in melee-style combat against fantastical creatures (e.g., goblins, skeletons, centaurs). Players use swords, axes, clubs, and bows to defeat enemies that generally disappear amid puffs of smoke. One brief sequence depicts a battlefield strewn with the bodies of enemy creatures; in the background, a few bodies appear to be impaled by spears. The game contains some mildly suggestive material: fairies with moderate cleavage and/or exaggerated-size breasts; dialogue such as "I get to see a young hunk draw a bow again?" and "If I have to have something pounce on me, why couldn't it be a lady?" During the course of the game, a shop owner tells Link that she only serves "...drinks that are definitely just for adults..."; players can also encounter a drunken character that occasionally hiccups.
