Hrm, the Wideman is apparently incapable of shot suppression but he's still a good offensive player. I have a strong feeling he will find himself as the recipient of an absurd amount of penalties and uncalled elbows in the coming season, though.

Our scouting says he's a strong skater and puck mover and needs to work on his physical game that means we can give him sheltered minutes while he gets swoll. I picked him last year thinking he'd be a steal but it didn't work out so much. Hopefully he's got his feet under him this season (if only because I have an undue affinity for him)

Let's round out this defense with the recently signed Martin Marincin He played a lot of minutes on a really bad team and came out looking pretty damned good. On top of that he signed for dirt-cheap for some reason. I think he can bring stability to the bottom pairing with Zadorov (and whoever the #7 is) and shift up if and when injuries break Maatta. And just look at those hands! Butter soft. Rieder - Monahan - Tarasenko Nash - Staal - Pominville Wilson - Soderberg- Roussel X - X - X Maatta - Jones De Haan - Parayko Zadorov - Marincin Mentholmoose Good Soldier Svejk fucked around with this message at 19:00 on Aug 5, 2016 |

Furnaceface posted:Oh poo poo its a good thing I checked this before going to work. Picking in a hurry so, uh, the Flames will take one Marcus Kruger because he is a good bottom 6 guy on a good contract. I need someone else to verify this, because everything I've seen shows him getting worse and worse as the seasons go on, and $3 million is a lot for a guy who scored 4 points in 41 games, shut down center or not.

Boomer The Cannon posted:Lucic - Matthews - Niedereitter It's a step up for O'Reilly at least, because that's a better team than Buffalo. Seems like a waste to have Trouba and Shattenkirk as a pair but your defense kinda falls apart after that. I'd think breaking them up and spreading out the talent would work out better for you.

Furnaceface posted:Kruger is a great contract though? He has done a good job dragging some literal poo poo around the ice while making mostly d zone starts against tough comp. The only legitimate worry is if he can stay healthy. Once again, $3 million for 4 points. Zero goals all season. He got outscored by Tanner Glass last season, and it's not like he set the world on fire the year before either. He's got a lot to prove next season.

I'll do a dice roll on Tomas Jurco. He could be better than he was, and if not he's still a really good 4th liner. I don't have much else to justify this because it seems like a possibility that he may not even be on the opening roster for the wings. Flyinglemur follows.

I'm cool with that but also we could do something that staggers groups of ten throughout the day or something just to keep it semi-fair. Probably just easier to do a first come first serve, especially since folks seem to be dropping out.

I'll take Scott Wilson because yinzers seem to be convinced he's going to be Crosby's LW at least some of next season. He looked fine in what little I saw of him last season before his injury. That gives me- Rieder - Monahan - Tarasenko Nash - Staal - Pominville C.Wilson - Soderberg- S. Wilson Roussel - Blandisi - Jurco Maatta - Jones De Haan - Parayko Zadorov - Marincin Gibson Hutchinson

Emerson Etem for my last forward. I like my top 3 centers. My wings are eh unless Nash and Pominville bounce back but that second line will shut down if not score. One of the kids could displace Roussel. That defence is sneakily good if healthy, and young. 1st round playoff bounce I'd guess At least they're better than the real deal. I hate to expose De Haan but he's due a big raise and Zadorov is younger and getting better (not to mention putting up better suppression numbers on an infinitely worse team.)
