Watchin' "Take me out to the holosuite." Some enjoyable Trekkin'

edit: I wish I had some O'Brien-style scotch-flavored gum

edit2: I'd have to imagine a Vulcan's grip strength would make for a pretty nasty slider.

Pegg just said something that's making the rounds to the effect of "things are different in this timeline, so for whatever reason Kelvin Sulu might have turned out gay but Prime Sulu might not be."

I imagine this is what Takei doesn't like about the prospect of Sulu being gay. It's not quite the same as saying that being gay is a choice, but saying that someone is only gay because some guy blew up a planet leaves the door open to a lot of similar ideas.

I just watched "Measure of a Man," for the first time in many years. I thought there was no way it would hold up but holy hell is it good. Patrick Stewart just relishes all those lines, but then so does everyone else: Frakes gets a chance to be so conflicted, Whoopi nails her small part, and the Judge plays extremely well off of Stewart - well except that they were apparently supposed to have sexual chemistry. I'm sure everyone is going to tell me that it's actually garbage but my eyes were glued to the screen like the first time I watched it.

So Gene's Federation future is meant to convince us that peace and love and socialism rock, but the existence of the Ferengi being a power with roughly equivalent tech evidently means that unrestrained capitalism works just fine too.

I would like to think this is why the Ferengi flubbed as the big villain. The Federation is set up so that everything the Ferengi embodied is past the humans, vulcans, everyone from "Encounter at Farpoint" onwards. The future we have to look forward to is one where petty grievances and greed are simply a thing of the past. A bad joke to be discarded.

Of course I know it's really because their makeup looked silly.

A simple google image search will show you why she no longer has a career and it wasn't a particularly impressive one when she did

Gis-ed for Chase Masterson and didn't see what you were talking about. Unless you mean that she hopped on the Star trek convention gravy train.

It sure wouldn't be depressing to see Lawrence Taylor break a dog's neck.

Dinner at Nanas is sold out. Also, they've only got like 8 grand to go.

I'm a page or two late for theme discussion, but I can't let it pass without dropping this old classic
