Homeward is on BBC America right now and it's almost a good episode mired in Federation bullshit.

MikeJF posted:Even if you don't want them to outrank the captain, you still could've had a diplomatic specialist character. Troi might've been better conceptualised as a sociologist and diplomat who's there on the bridge to comprehend aliens and also formally assist the captain as a diplomatic attache, with a deeper training in acting on the Federation's behalf. (Consuler Troi?) Troi should of been a Protocol Officer and just combine the diplomatic and military officer duties.

The only other really bad Season 2 episode is The Child, which I would say no one mentioned.

TheDeadlyShoe posted:Bones was also the emotional one of the kirk-mccoy-spock trio. He would stand up for what felt right in the moment, even if it didn't serve the greater good. Crusher inherited that role to some extent. I think poor Bev deserved better than she got on TNG. She is a Doctor who carries a fairly high rank and knows how to operate a ship. It gave her this space to be a healer and tell command to gently caress itself when they were being a bunch of dicks. I appreciate the strong willed, you need another perspective on this but they never gave her enough to do. I mean except gently caress a ghost.
