I'm excited for this LP since this game apparently isn't coming out on consoles. Also, application sent, hoping my guy shows up and doesn't get rocketed into the sun just because I wanted him to look like EXALT.

It's coming to consoles: https://xcom.com/news/en-xcom-2-console-PlayStation-4-Xbox-one Probably not much of a mod scene, though.

I used one of the squad size mods for my second run, and it broke the final mission - the extra soldier or two somehow got left behind at Seaworld and so I never got the victory/stats screens, just a focus on the poor sobs because of some hardcoded value the modders missed.

Stun Lancers are the first in a line of units-who-melee, as XCOM 2 puts a bigger emphasis on that than EU/EW, and they are great. Unlike Chryssalids from EU/EW they also have some really great AI, they will move into and attack from cover with their sword so retaliation against them is harder; and they will also take shots with their rifle if they are out of range of the dash'n'slash.

Speaking of which, they also seem to have the aim of Thin Men.

Also I forgot in XCOM 1, how soon did it take for terror missions to begin. Was it one month in like here? It seems like a lot more stuff ramps out the game in this version compared to the previous version.

Second month for vanilla. I think LW did some of their own tweaks - wasn't there a forced terror mission between Confounding Light and Gangplank just to gently caress with the player?

Hey guys, I'm all healthy again, mostly, and got some time to record with Guava so let's all have an update! There isn't much to say about this one though, it's a standard guerilla op that doesn't have any unexpected troublestm. But at least I remembered to notice and point out the kind of strange behavior of hackable street lamps. I don't actually know what causes this or why one lamp with the same tech score would be miles easier to hack than the second one but I'm glad i came across this and documented it a little.

This has happened to me too - I was in a mission with two hackable lamps, both of which gave out squad concealment as the best reward. One had a 13% chance of success from my Specialist, the other had a 73% chance.

They can't show up in the Shen's Last Gift mission. They also can't show up in Gatecrasher or in the tutorial missions. That's about it.

I think the way it works is: any time the game makes a viper (or one of the other two spoilery alien types), it might make the appropriate ruler instead.

They can even show up in the Avenger Defense mission by default which is just :psyduck: There's a mod to disable that but it can also disable the rulers showing up entirely.

Part of the thing about Beagle was his huge-rear end Long War LP on Twitch (where he still does weekly stuff) which helped demonstrate how good he is at finding cheese, and how awful Long War is for trying to remove all of it, resulting in only the very best (and most patient) standing a chance of winning it. Point is, Beagle is genuinely a really good XCOM (both EU/EW and 2) player, and even if his unedited videos have him waffling a bit, it doesn't change that. Certainly, he showed me just how useful a scout can be.

I don't think he's playing LW at all anymore. He had a bunch of aborted runs after the LW crew patched out some cheese in one of the their final releases, by which point Long War was just a race between Beagle exploits and the devs patching them, which made for something interesting to watch but not a very good mod.

The only reason the Archon King didn't do much against me was because I had a grenadier with Salvo and double frost grenades, plus a ranger in the snake suit, and managed to get him down to ~25 hp before he nope'd out of there.

Also "Guava Rage" is the best gun name.

Hunter Protocol has potential to be a big swing hit, seriously weakening a just revealed pod of aliens. The problem for me is the 33% chance to activate per alien. As Guava rightfully mentions that is statistically a free shot on a pod of 3 aliens. I think he however overstates how much good that will do, as it still relies on a SPARK with their mediocre aim hitting an overwatch shot. Still it has potential to be pretty impactful during a mission and may wipe out or weaken a member of a fresh pod.

Rough math would indicate that this has a 70% chance to activate on a three-unit pod. Which is still good especially since free shot, but 70% is not 100% as XCOM teaches us.

It's pretty late in the game for noob anything. You could probably throw a SPARK into an A-team mix and gift it enough kills to level up but Jade would have to keep playing a long time to level it up to be useful on its own.
