I imagine if angry lobster had become a specialist and did get the enemy protocol in that mission (the extra 20 could have helped!) then Jade would have gotten calls of having complete bullshit luck. I mean, can you imagine the power of having 2 early game enemy protocol upgrades? As it stands though, having the enemy miss that flank shot is already pretty lucky.

Fun fact by the way, there's a bug that sometimes makes the game forget you gave a soldier a PCS... but it doesn't take away the stats they got from it, meaning you can give them another, and the effects will stack! Eh, Cythereal is just weird like that (note, weird does not mean bad or wrong, it simply means weird). I also recall them saying in the main XCOM thread, that another premise that would have been cool with, is essentially the plot of the new independence day movie, humanity has had time to integrate what alien tech they have, but the aliens are coming back in force which I agree is also a cool premise for an XCOM game. That's probably what they'd roll with if they wanted to make a sequel to the "win" state of EU/EW.

I do agree with you that I don't think I'd be that interested in a remake of TFTD, (Personally I think Cythereal just likes lovecraftian themes) but considering how well Firaxis has done with XCOM EU/EW and XCOM2, they could probably pull it off.

You know, there are some things and skills that I may not have given a full trial or thought over as much as I thought I had. As Guava talked more about Overdrive the more I wanted to work it out more and use it and see if I could really justify Adaptive Aim at any point. No real spoiler to say I am taking the SPARK on the next two missions I have recorded and I did my best to try to use Overdrive more liberally than I have in the past. I can say it worked out well, but Adaptive Aim still sucks balls I have to conclude.

Someone else posted that perhaps the most common use of Overdrive is Move->Rocket->Shoot and for whatever dumb reason I never considered this previously. And when you rocket something with the Spark it is probably a situation that warrants using a cooldown skill like Overdrive. So I think I did that exact maneuver in both missions, and it's pretty great. The other times I got use out of Overdrive was treating it more like run and gun, so Move->Move->Shoot. Neither of these situations would have benefited from Adaptive Aim. So I'm going to give partial credit to Guava here and say I probably could make more use out of Overdrive than I have previously, but then he still gets a big F for Adaptive Aim because it doesn't actually help when I overdrive.

Eh, in one of my playthroughs I made a full 6 SPARKS and just sent them on missions, replacing one with a specialist (Whom I dubbed "robo-lord") if it seemed like a good idea (so when I need to carry a vip or hack something), and there, I found adaptive aim much more useful than bulwark, as it turned "overdrive, shoot thrice, repeat until enemies are dead" a valid tactic. That's a gimmick though, but it did work amazingly. I will say I much prefer rainmaker over punch though, simply because 3 width plasma blasters are hilarious. As are blaster bombs with enhanced radius and damage.

Part of the thing about Beagle was his huge-rear end Long War LP on Twitch (where he still does weekly stuff) which helped demonstrate how good he is at finding cheese, and how awful Long War is for trying to remove all of it, resulting in only the very best (and most patient) standing a chance of winning it. Point is, Beagle is genuinely a really good XCOM (both EU/EW and 2) player, and even if his unedited videos have him waffling a bit, it doesn't change that. Certainly, he showed me just how useful a scout can be.

A good way to activate the berserker queen there would have been to put everyone in overwatch. Your sniper with long watch would have taken a shot once she moved from behind the tree, and she would then charge into your overwatching squad on the alien turn.

This. A Phantom scout seeing a ruler like this gives you a great opportunity to get a bunch of shots at it without having to suffer a ruler reaction for each shot. Just move near it's sight range (but not in it obviously) activate overwatch, and when it moves near you (or if you have a long watch sniper) and watch it take a near full squads worth of fire (or a full one if you use your last action to shot it with your phantom, that works too) with little recourse.

He's using it from concealment while the whole squad is concealed. To my knowledge this never worked. Kill Zone is essentially an enhanced function of overwatch so he put his entire squad on overwatch, put his sniper on Kill Zone which functions like overwatch, and then never dropped concealment. Overwatch and Killzone will not fire at things if the soldier remains concealed. So Beagle is just loving up or not understanding how basic gameplay elements work, otherwise known as pulling a DSP.

And then he mocks it and puts a little text card over it with funny music. You're the reason it's not working beagle. This is why I think you're poo poo.

E: I just noticed his sniper is using a heavy weapon. What the gently caress? So he's running a bunch of mods and they're not all working smoothly maybe? Big shocker there. I have a better idea of what's going wrong though. If you're going to mod it like that you need to pay attention to a lot of weird interactions and Beagle needed to download another mod to allow unusual skill interactions to work with squadsight. I've managed to do that to allow things like rapid fire to work with squad sight. It's not hard. So again, it's still his fault.

Uhhhh...... I hate to be a contrarian but his videos are from when he had the first build, where killzone did work like he describes (in the hands of a sniper) and I know this because when I first played XCOM2 I could use killzone like that untill it got patched out, the reason he has killzone on a gunner is because they got it through the AWC, which is a thing you yourself have talked about having the potential to be great. If you watch some of his other videos, you can see him getting killzone to work like he wants, it's just that because it's being used by someone who got it from the AWC, they can't use it at squadsight ranges. I don't mean to be an rear end in a top hat here, but I like to state facts, regardless of who is currently benefitting from them.

For the record, if Beagle made fun of you, I would defend you as staunchly as I'm defending him right now.
