I think the Napoleon episode was actually one of their best yet - partly because the guest was extremely knowledgable and corrected Matt/Chris accordingly. The dynamic seems to work best when it's:

Guest - Knowledgeable and assertive but open minded. Will provide good context and correct Chris/Matt but be polite about it and not ruin Matt's tirades.
Matt - Provides some relatively newish or interesting angle to a historical event, knows enough to match the guest in broad knowledge of the topic to keep the tirades grounded, goes on a few funny bants
Chris - Keeps Matt on track, sets up jokes/bants, I am going to assume does 99% of the prep work, production, getting guests, and everything to make up for Matt's failson nature

The Napoleon ep raised a really, really good alternate history question of what French hegemony would look like compared to English hegemony. While the sort of fundamental colonialism/exploitation is still there, French-led capitalism that is more "liberal" and a bit less hypocritical at least with regards to slavery and republicanism would really be fascinating, and I'd love to see what the Anglo-American world would look like in reaction.

Also Napoleonic Egypt is a fun as gently caress idea.

It's true that goths are temperamentally conservative. It's a subculture largely populated by white people from middle-class backgrounds, so it comes with the territory. As for Marilyn Manson being a conservative--he's a rich old white guy who thinks he should be allowed to rape whoever he wants, ipso facto he's conservative.
