Halloween Jack posted:Does Matt announce ahead of time when he's doing a stream? I wanted to ask a history question and I have no idea how to do it now that he's not streaming most days. He's been trying to do book talk Wednesday and gaming Friday but often runs into tech issues. The streams are usually around 6-7pm ET.

Thomas Frank agreed to do an episode of The West Wing Thing but then emailed back to turn it down after they told him he'd have to watch an episode of The West Wing.

Kolchak would be fun because it's only a single season but also had a big influence on Twin Peaks and the X-Files, plus it's really goofy that one week the wolfman is stalking Chicago and the next Dracula shows up and then Jack the Ripper and each time nobody remembers that this keeps happening or believes Kolchak when he tells them about it.

I hope he comes back as a guest occasionally for the beltway garage but it sounds unlikely. Probably no more tabletop gaming episodes either which is a shame.

Cosmik Slop posted:Every loving one of these articles could basically close by saying "they should be more like mainstream liberal media" when Chapo was formed precisely because huge swathes of the population were loving sick of that being the only "left-wing" option And even in the post-Trump doldrums, I still think it's better than any of the podcasts that popped up since it started that try to do the same thing.

The Daily Show changed pretty significantly after Jon got pissed off at the writers during the 07-08 strike and refused to use their material when the strike ended. He'd always done a lot of it, but that's when the mugging for the camera really picked up, since he needed to fill time. People left and the replacements weren't the same.

The Bugle was unlistenable. Just a version of Le Show with british accents. And those were considered the "good" comedy politics podcasts before Chapo came along.
