WHY SEE ESS
Sep 12, 2006
Problem description: So a few days ago I logged on to find Chrome's homepage changed to yourtv dot links and modifies google searches to its website. My cousin was using my computer at the time () so I don't know what exactly he did or if it was him, but while I was able to remove it from Chrome with malwarebytes it seems to keep coming back. This is the exact issue I'm talking about, but the advice doesn't seem to help remove it permanently: https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-yourtv-link/

The malware generally works like this:
-google chrome asks I make changes as an admin and won't go away
-I run several anti virus programs (sometimes in safe mode as well) such as Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner, and Hitmanpro
-The programs find the malware and quarantine/remove them and I don't see them when I scan anymore
-Several hours to half a day later the same thing happens all over again

Attempted fixes: I've tired using a bunch (malwarebytes, Adwcleaner, Hitmanpro, and a few others) of malware removers in and out of safemode, but in the end it ends up coming back.

Operating system: Using Windows 8 64 bit which hasn't been updated in a long, long time

I have Googled and read the FAQ: Yes

Here is the hijack file: http://www.hijackthis.co/log/594141

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for permanently getting rid of it as it's not only annoying but I don't know what other things it's doing to my computer. Occasionally I get something that I notice and remove but this just seems to keep coming back and I'm at my end trying to get rid of it. If you think that there's no way to get rid of it and I should get a professional to swipe it themselves or I need a permanent system wipe please let me know.

Any and all advice would be much appreciated :)

Uninstall Java unless you really need it.

I would do a scan using WDO:

When it asks you to make changes as admin, under details, what's the file path it shows?
