IT also identifies himself as Legion and other biblical demons to an old man. IT also has a sort of brain warp over all of Derry. At the end of the novel, as IT is being killed, Derry is being destroyed by a storm. I've read around 400 novels and IT is in my top ten favorite. For the horror stuff but also because of its themes on friendship and memory and childhood. What puts a tickle in my throat is the kids all forgetting each other, remembering when IT resurfaces, and forgetting after he's defeated again. I hope some of that makes it into the new film.
