Oh, and Brunom, IIRC doesn't AI-1/Elde have a unique dialogue line for reducing it down to exactly 1 HP or am I thinking of a different final boss?

Nothing I've seen indicates that and I seriously doubt that's the case. Reducing to precisely 1 HP would require such a perfect string of attacks that pretty much no one would see it.

Thanks but this'll be the last one for a while. Reason why I rushed so much to wrap this up by now is because my free time'll be diminishing a whole lot starting next week.

I won't say I'll never do another LP again but there'll be stop after the MXP bits are done. I'll see where things fall and, then, take it from there.

Can't you just use Mercy? Sure, you'll need a fair chunk of pilot skill (at least I think that's how Mercy always works, maybe they drop the skill req in some game, I dunno), but I don't imagine it'd be especially hard for whichever of the Newtypes packs Mercy in MX (I wanna say Amuro, it's usually him).

Anyway, I didn't want to say it outright since it hadn't quite happened, even though it was pretty clear it was going to, but in the convo between Basara and Kaworu in Alpha 3, Kaworu gets as close to saying that Ayato's tuning of the world resulted in the Alpha universe as he legally could.

Even if I had someone with a boosted enough skill stat for Mercy to trigger, it'd leave AI1 with 10 HP, not 1, so that wouldn't fly either.

As for the convo, it's not exactly that:

"In the past, the world I was in died and was reborn, by the song of a mechanical god, as the Promised Land its denizens desired."
"However, that world was also unable to escape the cycle of death and rebirth created by that one."
"As a result, the world you live in came to be."

In essence, remember the cycle Gades went on and on about? Turns out it wasn't the cyclical "bubble burst" the multiverse underwent due to Bähbem destroying the former Observer of Time way back when he tried - and massively failed - to use the RahXephon System to tune the world.

The cycle of samsara is still going strong and, eventually, the MX world reached its end when the Apocalypsis hit. The world born in the new samsara that started after was the Alpha one.

Edit: That said, do keep in mind that the full cycle of a universe (according to Buddhism) lasts a trillion+ years, so our folks certainly got a lot of extra mileage for their efforts.

Speaking of, with all the Fire Emblem crossover business Nintendo's been up to lately (SMT, Dynasty Warriors, appearing in Project X Zone), I'm wondering when the completely obvious Fire Emblem x Masou Kishin crossover is going to finally happen. It only makes sense to cross the two longest-running (and I'd argue most fundamental to defining the genre) SRPG series, and it means Hikaru Midorikawa gets to spend another game talking to himself. You could even bring back character elements from the pre-Shadow Dragon support system and work it into the Elemental Lords framework.

Boy I've come up with a lot of speculative SRW installments this thread.

Ask me about being the best dad ever.
The PSP version has quite the lengthier prologue compared to the PSP version. Instead of opening up with Mitall, we start with some extra stuff. Adding the initial wall of text here just for convenience's sake:

quote:

Seventy years after the inception of the Space Calendar, a series of events irreparably shook the fate of mankind.
Creatures from a parallel world, the “MU”, suddenly appeared in the skies above Tokyo and engaged in battle with forces of the Earth Federation. This conflict, expected to become a world-encompassing war, reached an abrupt end when the MU erected an unknown sphere around the area, centered on Tokyo's bay, shutting themselves inside.

Right after, a large asteroid struck the South Pole – a catastrophe later dubbed the "Second Impact" – which inflicted immense destruction on mankind and threw the Earth Sphere into chaos.

Mankind weathered the "One Year War" and the "Lizard War", and when peace seemed at hand, the Earth Sphere was engulfed simultaneously in the "Gryps Conflict" and "Devil Gundam Incident". Compounding matters further was an invasion by aliens known as the "Baam", intent on colonizing the Earth.

Meanwhile, the "Mycenae Empire", "Devil Empire" and "Dinosaur Empire" also began their assault. As the Earth Sphere's fate hung in the balance, the efforts of the Federation, the AEUG, Super Robots, the Nadesico B, and the New Shuffle Alliance proved sufficient to repulse all the attackers. A peace accord was struck with the Baam, while the Neo Zeon Army, which sought to act in the aftermath of the Gryps Conflict, was soon defeated.

However, the embers of war were not extinguished...

With the declaration of war by the lunar Giganos Empire, assaults by mysterious foes known as "Angels", numerous UFO appearances and elusive shadows surrounding the Hisago Plan, mankind was about to step closer to its doom...

: Wolf 1 here. We’ve arrived at the designated area.
: TMC, copy that. Stand by until the Medius’ launch preparations are complete. (MXP has added a generic scientist guy but I haven’t access to that portrait. So, we’ll have our good friend Kazami act as his stand-in.)
: Wolf 1, roger.
: Additionally, you’re to manage the TE Engine via the DFC System instead of manual control.
: Huh? The briefing didn’t say anything about that…
: But those are Prof. Zapato’s orders.
: Then I request some extra time to make some readjustments to the system.
: Request denied. The test will proceed according to the planned timetable.
: But…!
: That’s their way of telling us to adapt and think on our feet. Our evaluation’ll take a hit if we can’t do as told.
: Psh, like you care what the professor thinks of you.
: …It’s not like that exactly.
: But you’ve already got a good track record, so you’d be fine. Me, on the other hand…
: If you’re so worried about your personal evaluation, then go and do your job to the letter.
: I say the same. Make sure you follow my instructions, alright?
: I will… if I take them to be better than my own judgement.
: You’re still being like that?! What do you think I’m here for?!
: To keep the output of this mess of an engine stable.
: Right. Keeping the TE Engine regulated is very complicated…
: B-But that’s not all I do!
: It’d be better if you did only focus on that, though. Leave everything else to me.
: Don’t be ridiculous! I’m not a third wheel here, you know!
: Then how about you get our output to stay in the blue?
: I-I know.
: TMC to Wolf 1. We’re launching the Medius.
: Wolf 1, roger.

: The Medius Locus… It can move decently enough even without a pilot, I see.
: Yeah.
: And this might be a mock battle but the professor’ll be very disappointed with us if we lost here.
: (…I’m not doing this for his benefit.)
: Wolf 1, we’re now initiating the procedures.
: Roger.
: We’ll also be performing tests of the Lasmunanium’s self-regeneration functions today. Don’t hold anything back.
: Meaning you won’t complain if we shoot the Medius down?
: I won’t… though that’s assuming you’ll actually manage to do that.
: Hmph…
: Mind you, there’s been a small change of plans. The Medius’ weapons are carrying live ammo.
: What?! Won’t that make this essentially an actual battle?!
: Correct, so you two had best perform well or else.
: …!
: Is something the matter? Have you no confidence in yourself, Aqua Centrum?
: No – I can do this! I know I can!
: Then I’ll be expecting some fine data from this.
: (I can’t let myself get cold feet over something like this…!)
: We’re going, Aqua!
: Aye, aye!

So you actually have a bit of a prologue battle here, requiring you only to bring the Medius under 70% HP. Waiting to the third player phase will also work.

When you engage the Medius:

: Our output’s skirting the yellow zone, Aqua!
: Give me a second and I’ll get it back in the blue! Just keep the enemy away for a bit!
: Are you crazy?! If we try backing out now, we’ll be destroyed!
: You’ll be fine – just do as I say! I’m sending you the optimal MP data! (Motion Pattern?)
: No, I’m going in!
: H-Hey! Hugo!!

-After the battle-

: OK, we might be able to pull through like this.
: Stop talking and get back to the engine. Our output’s out of whack.
: That’s because of your crazy piloting! Use the MP data I sent you!
: This isn’t a simulation – your textbook approach won’t fly.
: What did you say?!
: …They’re as bad as always, hm?
: I’m afraid they’re just bad fits for one another.
: I expected their conflicting personalities to clash from the start. Those two were chosen solely due to their respective aptitudes.
: Still, they won’t be capable of yielding better results than AI1 like this.
: Hmm… We’ll see about that.

Once you get the Medius’ HP lowered:

: Hm? Hugo, the Medius’ movements are…
: Something’s off, yeah. Maybe the mech’s having some troubles?
: Prof. Zapato, we’re detecting some abnormalities with the Medius Locus’ control unit.
: And the Lasmunanium’s self-regeneration?
: We’re getting only minute reactions.
: Hm… Then it really is impossible to fully control it without AI1.
: What do we do, then?
: Call a stop to the engagement and have the Cerberus/Garmraid and Medius Locus return immediately.
: Yes, sir.
: And once they’re back in the lab, we’ll load AI1 into the Medius. Make sure you call and let her know.
: Understood.
: …Hugo, they’re ordering us back to the lab. Looks like something really is wrong with the Medius.
: Hrm…!
: What is it?
: …Nothing.
: …
: (The medicine’s not working…? No, that can’t be…)
: …
: (If the Medius Locus is already finished… this might not have ended as well as it did with an actual, skilled person piloting it…)

: I suggest you lessen that tough guy act, Hugo Medio.
: Sorry but I don’t feel like subjecting myself to any more of your “treatment”.
: Not treatment; adjustments.
: …
: I still need you up and about to work as the TE Absorber’s test pilot… and, for that to happen, you need some readjustments.
: The medicine alone will not hold against unforeseen events.
: I rather take my chances with the stuff than with your brand of treatment.
: That won’t work forever. There's a limit, you know.
: Even if I underwent your treatment, I’d still need to keep taking the med, right?
: Correct. Your body’s not exactly that of a common human, after all.
: …Then I’m good. Just give me a refill.
: As you wish.
: …This is more than what you usually give me.
: Consider it a small bonus – I’m not a monster. Besides, I’d much rather not lose a fine soldier like you.
: Hmph, a fine speech for someone who’s always giving me the bare minimum dosage.
: Could you simply stop with that attitude and take the medicine before your body seizes up?
: …

*Hugo leaves.*

: You know that he’s likely to have difficulties doing his job like this, right? Wouldn’t it be better to just force him to undergo the readjustments?
: No… This is good enough for the time being.
: Easier to keep him under control?
: Hm. That medicine is my leash around that wounded wolf’s neck.

Following that, the woman Mitall called enters the room and wonders if “dog” wouldn’t be a more appropriate word for Hugo. Mitall asks if no one saw her come here and, indeed, she confirms.
Either way, Mitall’s seen her reports and things seem to be progressing nicely on that front. On the flip side, tests on the Medius have shown less-than-stellar results without AI1 installed – especially regarding control of the Lasmunanium. When the woman asks, Mitall confirms that he’s giving her proposal the green-light and asks her to get AI1 set up ASAP. As for THAT man, he’s already waiting at the rendezvous and the woman figures she and AI1 can get that far on their own.
The woman confirms that Hugo and Aqua were picked as the pilots and isn’t too excited; Hugo’s riddled with problems and Aqua is… her former student, Mitall quips. Is the woman feeling a bit guilty now? No, she doesn’t believe that Hugo and Aqua would make for suitable opponents to her child. Mitall does sigh that she kind of IS the thing’s foster mother.

Regardless, the woman asks why the TE Engine was installed in that machine – if he’d let AI1 handle it, it’d be getting far better results than those two. Mitall says it’s a small handicap, as the balance of forces between is already askew. To say nothing of the fact that AI1 wouldn’t really be able to make sense of the DFC System. The woman calls that system absurd, depending on sensorial input for control.
Whether she likes it or not, though, Mitall says Aqua's data is vital to AI1's long term success. She disagrees, saying that all AI1 and the Lazmunanium need to display their full might is a perfected TE Engine. Still, Mitall and those two are needed to make that happen, so she’s little choice.

Either way, it’s time for them to get to work. Mitall then confirms her two targets: the Nadesico B and the Nahel Argama. According to the Committee’s script, those two ships are bound to be the focal point of a major deterrent force and keeping them tagged will let them gather a whole lot of useful data. The woman concurs and moves to close in to them.
Mitall starts to tell her that he expects good results from her, but reconsiders and says that it's enough if she's able to prove his theory. He isn’t planning on sticking with “them” until the end.

: …
: Hey, Hugo! Where the hell have you been?!
: Do I really need to answer?
: And then some! Did you forget we were going to have a review session after the test?!
: Oh…right.
: Urgh, I swear… I looked all over for you, you know! The gun room, the training range, your bedroom…
: You went in my bedroom?
: Of course not! A young girl can’t enter a bachelor’s bedroom by herself before marriage!
: Huh… that’s surprisingly old-fashioned of you.
: Well, excuse me. And where were you anyway?
: At Prof. Zapato’s office.
: Didn’t the two of us present our report to him, though?
: Yeah but I had some private business with him after that was done.
: Hmm…
: …I assume you still wanna have that review session?
: I do. Why didn’t you use my MP Data in the last battle?
: Because there was no need to.
: No, no, you’re not getting away with that kind of answer! I know I chose the right course of action back there!
: I’m not saying you made a bad choice… but it wasn’t the best one.
: Oh, but of course. Who am I to say anything to Mr. “Ex-Special Forces”. My instructions are clearly not worth much to someone like you.
: Listen, the fact is that I am the one piloting the unit. Meaning I’m the one who decides what we do, or don’t do, in battle.
: Are you suggesting I’m getting in your way?
: First you need to get used to managing the Engine’s output with that DFC System. Once you’re good with that, we’ll talk.
: Hmph… fine. I’ll show you that I can keep the output under control and send precise instructions at the same time. And, eventually, I’ll be piloting the Medius and—
: Hrm…?!
: What is it?
: (My body’s…!)
: Hugo?
: Sorry but… can you grab me a glass of water?
: Huh? What am I, your waitress?!
: …Please.
: What’s gotten you so serious now?
: …
: Psh, alright. Just water, then?
: Yeah…
: (The medicine’s not lasting as long…?)
: Here – your water.
: …Sorry for asking.
: Are you thirsty or something?
: No… It’s just to take my medicine.
: Medicine for what, exactly?
: It’s just… for a cold.
: Cold, huh? I guess you’re more delicate than I thought.
: …Is that a problem?
: Not really.
: (There… it’s stopped.)
: Well, just make sure you get better quick. I really don’t need you getting me sick, too.
: Says the one walking around in a swimsuit. How can you not catch a cold?
: This is a DFC Suit! Not a swimsuit! A DFC Suit!
: I know that.
: Bah…! I’m not wearing this because I like it, alright?
: Still, you seem rather OK with it.
: Well, sure, I can just jump into the bath with it and…
: B-but that’s not the point!

*BOOM!*

: What?! An explosion?!
: It came from the hangar!
: Are we under attack?!
: Maybe the TE Absorber is…!
: First things first – we need to find the Professor right now!

*ALARM!*

: Urgh! The hangar’s hatch was destroyed?!
: What’s going on, Professor?!
: It’s the Medius…! Someone’s stolen it!
: !
: Oh, no…! Who could do this?!
: We’ve no choice – you two must pursue it. If that unit falls into enemy hands, it’ll be a disaster…!
: R-right…! If the Lazmunanium is misused, we could potentially see a repeat of the Devil Gundam Incident from a year ago…!
: (The Devil Gundam…!)
: Understood, professor! We’ll get the Medius back in our hands!
: Please do. The Garmraid/Cerberus will be ready to launch soon and, if need be, you’ve permission to destroy the Medius.
: Y-yes, sir!
: I’m counting on you.
: (Yes, very much so… Hmhmhmhm.)

This feels like a better introduction, you get Hugo and Aqua's basic issues right up front and Hugo's condition is introduced straight away, though not totally explained. That said I have to wonder how much of rest of the game was rewritten, were the bits where they're properly introduced in the PS2 version cut short to reduce repetition, or is it more or less the same?

Additions to mission 3, RahXephon's debut.

When Hugo starts seizing up:

: (My hands and feet are numb...! How?! This shouldn't be happening yet...!)
: Hugo! What’s going on?!
: (The medicine's losing effectiveness...?! This has to be a sick joke! If my limbs seize up right now, we...!)
: Heey, Hugo! Get back to piloting now!
: (Urk... Is this what Zapato was talking about?!)

After this, the stuff plays the same with the bot coming out of Tokyo Jupiter, the Medius bailing after AI1's seen it go down and:

: (The numbness is going away. Guess the medicine hasn't become completely ineffective...)
: Are you alright?!
: Yeah... We're going after the Medius.
: Right, we might still have time! I'll just get permission from Cpt. Bright and--

They still don't get to leave, interrupted by Elvy coming out of the barrier and followed by a bunch of Dotems.

The more interesting addition is at the end, when Judau, Leina and Aqua are checking up on Hugo at the infirmary. He tells of how he "seizes up occasionally", Aqua gets pissed that he didn't tell her and is "impressed" that he managed to become a pilot with a body like that. Then:

: (My body's not like this because I wanted to, alright...?)
: Aqua, I don't understand everything that's going on... but don't you think you're yelling a bit too much at him right now?
: I... was thinking the same.
: O-Oh, right... Sorry, Hugo.
: Forget about it. And it was my fault the Medius got away. I should be the one apologizing.
: ...
: Something the matter?
: No, nothing.
: (I was thinking he was way too crusty for someone younger... but maybe he's not actually like that?)
: Will you at least let the doctor give you a full check-up?
: Thanks, but I’m fine.
: Better to be safe than sorry, don’t you think? Next time that happens, it might cost you a lot more than today.
: I… I know that.
: Why won’t you take the exam, then? You're not scared of needles or something, right?
: I'm way more scared of nagging old women. :iceburn:
: Whaa--?!
: (I take that back! He is crusty as all hell!)
: Then, Hugo, at least take some medicine with you.
: Thanks but I got my own… And sorry for making you worry.

And then he walks off and the rest plays the same.

I love this game and it is one of the strongest written SRWs, particularly of its decade where it, Alpha, and W are the standouts... But the originals are better done in OG2nd IMO. MX's strength is mostly in how well it uses the Eva/Rah crossover to reshape the whole plot of all other series around it. Also in how bombastic Rom Stoll is. Like holy poo poo where's my lecturing in HD????

Hugo and Aqua are pretty drat unbearable which is saying something for a game featuring Shinji.

Ask me about being the best dad ever.
New additions, first one is mission 5 after Hugo has his first nightmare:

: Rgh?!
: My medicine's...worn off...?!
: Hugo, it's time for us to meet with Lt. Douglas.
: Rrgh…! I need… my medicine…!
: Hugo? Hey, Hugo?!
: Hrrm...!

*Aqua runs in.*

: Hugo…!
: …
: What’s going on?! You’re so pale!
: I-It’s… nothing. It’ll pass… soon…
: It’s happening again…?
: Didn't you say young girls shouldn't... enter a bachelor's room...?
: That's neither here nor there right now! Are you really alright? Shouldn’t you go see a doctor?

Then it proceeds normally from there. Things stay the same up to mission 22, starting once again after another nightmare when he starts seizing up:

: (The medicine's effect is lasting... even less now. Only one more dose left and if I can't find a way to make do with that... How am I going to fight Albero… and the Medius Locus…?)

Fast forward to the battle with the Medius, when, in the original game, Hugo OD'd on his medicine. In MXP, the opposite happens - further exacerbated by his body's need for Mitall's readjustments and Hugo's refusal in taking those:

: It’s stopped?! Then—!
: Uk…?! Gwaargh!!
: Hugo?!
: G-grrrgh! GAAAAAH!
: What’s going on, Hugo?!
: (What the hell...?! What kind of pain is this?!)
: Get a grip, Hugo!
: (Hrk... I need to... my medicine...!)
: …
: It appears the medicine isn't keeping things under control anymore. And it’s likely been a while since Prof. Zapato last gave him some adjustments.
: (You idiot…)
:: (I-It's not working... I took the thing and the pain isn't stopping...!)
: Regardless, it’s impossible for him to pilot in this state.
: Gch! Uurgh!

After this it goes back to the common ground, with Albero leaving. At the end of the mission, right before Aqua confronts him to come clean with her, Hugo has this new line:

: (The pain's stopped... but what the hell happened there? Did my body reach its limit, like Zapato said it would?)

Finally, cut to Hugo's end convo with Mitall - where, in the original, he asked for some stronger medicine - this time, he simply asks for a fresh batch to be sent over ASAP. Whereas the original version had Mitall simply agree to make a stronger version, without any side effects, things go like this in MXP:

: I’ll prepare some new medicine soon and that should last you for the time being. Still, this is bound to repeat itself if you don't let me give you some adjustments.
: And, like I said before, I'm not interested.
: If you say so. But if you change your mind, feel free to call me anytime. The development of the new model can't afford the loss of you.
: ...

Next changes will be when the Garmraid gets destroyed - the part of the game that underwent the most rewrites. Overall, so far, the differences are focusing much more on adding a lot more meat to Hugo's condition in that it's not something that can be fixed with just some "stronger medicine". The stuff he takes is a temporary measure meant to hold things at bay for Mitall to make further "adjustments" onto his body - he refuses and, thus, he's a much bigger ticking time bomb now.

The medicine is still losing its effect like in the original but it's a consequence, not cause: when Hugo seizes up in MXP, it's not a secondary effect of Mitall's medicine but simply his body slowly approaching the point where it can't handle the mechanic bits anymore and the meds aren't keeping. A consequence that's been forewarned since the very beginning.

I, for one, am liking these changes because having Mitall feed Hugo bad meds and then him simply going "OK, they won't kill you now" seemed a bit of an asspull. And it adds another layer to Hugo's prickly outside in that he's screwed either way: his only options are to let Mitall further tinker with his body or keep popping his pills until the point where his body'll simply shut down in agony.

There is no problem that cannot be solved through sufficient application of lasers and friendship.
A little late to the party, but congrats on finishing another one, and as bad as Eva got with the subtext of "becoming one" with people, Mitte was getting pretty close to single entendres there.

The crossover parts of this, especially Eva and RaXaphon, were handled well, but the originals feel like unnecissary bookends that mostly exist to hold G-Gundam to everything else.

*edit for new post as I was checking things*

The remake does seem to be doing a lot to make them less cardboard.

I like Erde being just another mad scientist using the crossover as an opportunity to create the Ultimate Lifeform(tm) and I like Aqua having to deal with someone so important to her having been a sociopath disguising the contempt she felt for her all along. Hugo is unfortunately barely a character at all and the duo have no real chemistry to them except when Aqua sarcastically gives "Soldier-san" sass in battle dialogue.

It's like the developers wanted two different versions of Hugo (the usual "arrogant hot-head who doesn't need to show emotion" protagonist and "has a traumatic past stemming from a near-death experience" protagonist) and couldn't fully commit to one or the other, so they try and balance it out. To be honest, if they committed to a PTSD angle with Hugo, it might have helped to flesh him out more. MX (and OG as well) sort of dances around the topic, but never pulls the trigger and goes all in on the subject. It would make Hugo's reclusive behavior and reluctance to trust people work better and make him stand out more, but the game would rather Hugo be this weird amalgamation of two character archetypes that clash so often that Hugo rarely gets to stand out on his own.

Aqua, by contrast, has a very good arc that is a wonderful treat to watch. She begins as the daughter of a wealthy politician who rarely had to struggle in life, meets a mentor she grows to respect and care about, only to finally be thrown into a situation where she has to get her hands dirty and learn the harsh facts of life as a result of said mentor being a selfish manipulative lunatic. By all rights, Aqua should have been the lead protagonist with Hugo being the supporting role, if only to more appropriately mirror Elde and Albero (she's the evil mastermind and he's the muscle).

Ask me about being the best dad ever.
Changes to mission 28, a whole bunch of new stuff.

First off, after Mitall tells Elde not to kill Hugo and Aqua and she decides to kill Hugo and Aqua, MXP has a brand new scene:

: Elde Mitte… She’s likely picked up on what we’re planning.
: Most likely.
: We need a way to keep her in check like Hugo.
: It’s not my job to control her. Still, it’d probably be best if we took some precautions to ensure the development of the new model isn’t set back.
: What will you do, then?
: Get a rescue team ready to go and run a trace on the Medius and Magnate Ten’s current movements.
: Just in case Elde decides to go against your instructions?
: Hm. I’ve no plans of switching pilots at such late a juncture.
: I still have much for those two to do for my project…

The scene about the TE Engine's limiters goes a lot less smoothly for our two heroes:

: Cut the Garmraid’s TE Limiters?
: Right. Can you run the sim and check how long the mech would handle running like that?
: Hold on, now. Prof. Zapato has explicitly forbidden us from cutting the engine’s limiters.
: Because it’d overheat the thing, right?
: Yes. And, really, with how the engine is right now, we run the risk of losing all control over it before it even overheats.
: Which is why I want to know how long we’d be able to fight like that.
: Your plan is to destroy the Medius Locus with that gamble, hm?
: You saw how our previous battles went; with the Lasmunanium on its side, we need to destroy that thing in one go or it’ll just regenerate all damage it took.
: I won’t argue with that but… it’s crazy risky.
: Doesn’t change the fact that, right now, it’s the only way we’re beating that thing.
: If all goes according to plan, we’ll take the Medius down with us…But if anything goes wrong, we’ll give it just the opening it needs and that’ll likely be the end for us!
: What, then? Can you think of any other plan to take the Medius down?
: Let’s talk to everyone, explain what’s going on and ask for their help. If we do, I’m sure we—
: The Medius is my target. I won’t ask the others to get involved with this.
: “Your” target…?! Do you think you’re fighting that thing by yourself?!
: We had this conversation before: I’m the one who pilots the Garmraid, so I’m the one who decides how we fight.
: …
: If you’ve a problem, then we can end this partnership right now.
: What, you think throwing that at my face is going to make me shut up?!
: What…?
: But, fine, since you went there, let me just make something perfectly clear!
: !
: It’s not you alone that makes the Garmraid work, OK?! Do you have any idea how to work the DFC System?!
: …
: No, you don’t! So stop acting like you can fight this by yourself!
: Fine, then I’ll go and take care of the TE Limiters myself!

*Hugo stomps off.*

: Urgh! He’s like a huge child!
: …
: (Then again, so am I…)
: (Aah…I did it again. And Rain even told me how important it was to be there to help him, no questions asked…)
: (This duo of ours might really be beyond saving.)

Next, when the Medius shows up and it's time for the showdown, the dialogue's a bit different due to the above changes:

: You’ll have your answer… in death.
: I’ve absolutely no intention of biting it here!
: I can respect that spirit of yours; shame that it’ll also be undone today.
: And you think I’d just let you have your way?! Aqua, give me full power on the TE Engine!
: Don’t lose your cool, Hugo! Calm down!
: I know, I know – just do as I say!
: I'm not cutting our limiters, though, you hear me?!
: Yeah, whatever! Now go and raise our output!
: F-Fine! Terminus Energy absorption plates, extended! Bypass, open!

Then, once you get the Medius under 50%:

: The Medius isn’t moving…!
: Then I’m taking it out right now! Cutting the TE Limiters!
: Didn’t I tell you we can’t do that?!
: I’m not letting this chance slip through my fingers! This is happening, with or without your approval!
: W-Wait! Stop!
: I’ll wrap this up before we overheat! Limiters, released!
: I-If anything happens, that’s all on you!

The Medius gets wrecked but not quite enough, and then:

MXP Version:

: Hugo! The engine’s almost overheating!
: I know! Do whatever you can to keep it running!
: I-It’s not that easy, you know!
: Just give me a bit more time and I’ll—

Elde reveals herself, messes with Aqua and stalls for time:

: Focus! Weren’t you the one who said that giving it any opening’d be the end for us?!
: But I… I’ve no idea what it’s doing! What are these readings?!
: Forget that! Get our output stable!

After the Medius powers up and wrecks the MC bot, that's when things really change up:

: Th-The hatch… the front seat… it’s gone…!

Hugo's been torn straight out the cockpit and is gone!

Adding the PSP version of the epilogue in the post below because I'll be linking it to the original update.

Ask me about being the best dad ever.
This is the epilogue of mission 28 for MXP. If you're on the PS2 version, follow the other one because there'll be significant differences from here on out.

Domon goes after Harry, who relates that the Garmraid’s cockpit was recovered. Aqua’s injured but nothing life-threatening… As for Hugo, however, his seat was torn right off the unit. They searched the area after the battle was over but found nothing.
Domon asks if he’s suggesting Hugo’s dead but Harry doesn’t quite want to say that. Saburouta understands: we shouldn’t assume that before we know for sure. Besides, Harry and everyone else don’t believe he’s dead. We saved Aqua, so he might also be fine, Ryouma thinks.
It’s still too early to give up hope considering the lack of proof.

: U-Urk…
: Aqua… you’re awake.
: Rain… I’m…
: Your cockpit block was ejected after the battle and we recovered it.
: What about Hugo…? Is he alright?
: H-He…
: …Aqua, I want you to stay calm and listen. We… couldn’t recover him.
: …!!
: We searched the area around the Garmraid’s explosion but were unable to find Hugo.
: N-No…!
: Aqua...
: A-Aah…! It... It was my fault...! I gave the Medius the opening it needed…!
: Aqua, calm down…!
: I-I… I got Hugo…!
: Don’t blame yourself, Aqua… No one could have expected the Medius Locus to do what it did…
: B-But, if I’d been a better support, Hugo…!
: … You need to accept reality for what it is. Wallowing on past mistakes or “what ifs” won’t do anything.
: …!!
: Lt. Hugo Medio has been marked as MIA… The federal troops will continue searching for him.

*Ruri leaves.*

: Captain…
: …
: She didn’t need to say it like that…
: What she meant is that we’re not sure that Hugo’s dead yet. That’s why she classified him as simply missing in action.
: Ah…
: Everyone else is thinking the same thing as her.
: …
: Aqua, let us handle the rest. Your priority now should be getting some rest.
: …
: Alright?
: OK…
: …Let’s go, Rain.
: Huh? But…
: (We should give her some time alone.)
: (Alright…)

*Off they go.*

: Kch…
: I’m… I’m so sorry, Hugo…
: None of this… None of this would’ve happened if I hadn’t lost my grip over Ms. Mitte…!

: …And that’s the end of Elde Mitte’s report.
: Taking precautions was, indeed, the right move.
: Hm. Initial treatments are already being administered aboard the shuttle but…
: I’ll handle the repairs personally. Make sure everything is prepared.
: I will, but are you truly fine with what happened to the Garmraid and its TE Engine?
: It matters not – the new model’s already finished.
: But the Medius Locus…
: Is showing some very interesting results. We’ll keep observing them for a while.
: Understood…
: Oh, and send that Dragoon we have to Aqua. I’d rather she get used to piloting humanoid mobile weapons before the new model’s delivered.
: Yes, sir. I’ll see to it right away.

Back in Tekkoryu Castle, Yura isn’t happy. Why the hell did Lurahn keep quiet when he found out that Miku wasn’t human?! The old man can only apologize but that’s not worth much after they even lost Ritsu.
Well, that does it for Yura – no more waiting around. He proclaims the immediate start of the final phase of the Hades Project, the entire planet transformed into the Underworld. Only those chosen by the Tekkoryu will survive and she’ll lead them as Hades!
She orders Saiga, Rockfell and Gisou to lay waste to Japan: that country will be the starting point of the Project. After they salute and head out, Lurahn meekly asks if this is truly what Yura desires. He doesn’t think it is.

Yura yells at him to stop that nonsense – she was brought into this world precisely for the Hades Project! Lurahn watches on as Yura momentarily reels back before shooing him away.
After he leaves, she stands ill at ease: “What happened…? The destruction of this world is what I desire… yet, when I proclaimed it, my heart ached… as though it is not truly me who desires it. Why? Oh, Taiha… Could you make sense of this…?”

Oki’s trying to come to grips with the fact that he’s talking to Masaki Kihara but what Miku wants to know is what happened to Masato. Masaki figures a puppet wouldn’t understand even if he explained but the gist is that he is Masaki, within Masato. Rather, no, Masato isn’t even here anymore.
Masaki built the Zeorymer so that he, himself, could claim the throne of Hades but he anticipated the possibility that he could lose his life along the way.
Thus, he created a clone of himself and registered that zygote as the Zeorymer’s pilot. And as that clone was made, he also left a hidden program coded into his DNA: when the clone found his way to the Zeorymer’s cockpit, his original personality would be recovered.
And as his name tag changes, he proclaims: “I am Masaki Kihara.”

You know, in retrospect it really bugs me how Zeorymer basically falls off the plot the minute the anime's story wraps up. I know why, it'd be hard to incorporate the mech that's basically a giant "I win" button into a plot that's supposed to have actual tension, but it feels like Amuro gets more screen time after Zeorymer wraps up and he doesn't actually have any plot in this game. You'd think that they'd at least make a show of it throwing down against the MP Evas but, no dice I guess.

It's kind of inevitable, because the Zeorymer is kind of absurd in how many problems it can solve.

If Zeroymer does return to SRW, I figure a bigger expansion into it's plot would feasible and probably combine it with another anime of sorts.... I'm thinking Guyver since it's a badass Power Armour and treat it like Tekkaman Blade in W.

These next updates are related to MXP’s missions 29 and 30, which were originally together in MX’s mission 29. If you’re on the PS2 version of the game, check that part.
Once we’re done with these missions, we’ll be back to the usual format of following the PS2 version while adding the MXP bits in.

: It appears the Tekkoryu have entered the final stage of their plan.
: That’s far too soon.
: Hm, now was not the time for it. Not yet.
: That man is likely at fault for this…
: The deterrent may not be capable of impeding what comes next. Worst case scenario, even we will be affected.
: They’re a necessary force for the future, though… we cannot afford to lose them now.
: … We are left with no choice but to revise some of the schedule, then.
: Do you mean we’ll let him do as he pleases?
: That man is familiar with some of the project. Were he to join Bähbem’s side, it’d be problematic.
: That is not an issue. His wish is to open the doors to the Underworld by his own hands… It is far too different from what Bähbem desires.
: So, rather, you’re implying he is more similar to us?
: Indeed. And, regardless, his wish will be fulfilled… Even if he was against, it still would happen.

Location: Last Guardian Base

Oki’s just gotten a call about three Hakke Robos headed towards Japan, which means the Omzack of Thunder has finally been completed; the one said to have power comparable to the Zeorymer’s. It seems the Haudragon intend to challenge us to one final battle with this.
One thing to note, however: the Federation’s just rescinded the Zeorymer’s transfer to the ranks of the Magnate Ten. The bot will once again be operating under Oki’s command. The plan right now is for the Magnate Ten to coordinate with the Federation to intercept the Hakke Robos, while the Zeorymer goes and destroys the Haudragon’s stronghold. Miku confirms and, slowly, sets out to inform… him.
Inwardly, Oki realizes that the brass is planning on having Last Guardian take the fall for this.

: Please… launch the Zeorymer.
: Launch and do what, exactly?
: …Urk… this battle is pointless…
: Why? Didn’t you steal the Zeorymer in order to stop the Haudragon whenever they started their rampage?
: Hah! Do you take me as someone so altruistic? Someone like those Magnate Ten, willing to fight even at the risk of life and limb?
: !
: My theft of the Zeorymer was insurance, pure and simple.
: Insurance…?
: Indeed. To make sure that I’d take the throne of Hades…!
: …!
: Hmph… your body certainly doesn’t strike me as being made of growing memory silicon. And your AI is quite impressive, so dramatic and clever…
: But you’re still just a puppet.
: And you’re the one who made it all, weren’t you?!
: Correct. Even back then, I expected to be assassinated whether I stayed with the Haudragon or fled.
: They wanted to take the Zeorymer and the Dimensional Coupling System from me, you see. All so they could salvage the “God” that lies in the world beyond the doors.
: (“God”… beyond the doors?)
: So I went and took several steps to secure my return from the dead. So many pieces of trash were grown… yourself included.
: Stop that!

*Slap!*

: Aah! Hrm…
: I destroyed the Haudragon’s stronghold when I escaped, but I expected them to eventually return and resume the Hades Project.
: And in both the Haudragon and Japan, where I fled to, I left some of my own blood. Hmhmhmhm…
: …
: Haudragon and Federation… whichever one is victorious, a clone of mine will remain. Do you understand now why I won't sortie?
: I've no problem with ascending the throne of Hades after the Hakkeshu have plowed the land clean; after the old men who tried to use me, the people of the Black Moon… after every single person has been driven into the Underworld!
: …
: Hmhmhm… and even if I was beaten by the Hakkeshu, that would mean that my other self would ascend the throne of Hades…!
: What a wonderful game this is, no? A battle of me against me, with the world at stake!
: You mean the clone you left with the Haudragon… ?!
: But that’s nothing a… puppet like you… needs to concern yourself with…!
: Urgh?! Kch…rrgh…!
: Masa… to…?
: Don’t touch me!
: ?!
: Curses… my head…!

*Door opens.

: Masato… rather, Masaki Kihara.
: What is it, Oki…?
: I am here to once again request your cooperation in the name of the Japanese government…

*:tfrxmas:*

: Launch the Zeorymer.
: … And if I say “no”?
: Then I’d be forced to apply some mind control, much as I’d rather not.
: … Would you kill me again, Oki?
: !
: Fifteen years ago, I’d just escaped from the Haudragon and you gunned me down – after taking the Zeorymer and the zygote I’d registered as the pilot, of course.
: Exactly as I knew you would.
: …
: You found Miku in the Zeorymer’s cockpit and assigned some foster parents to raise my zygote. Though you never realized that what you sought, the core of the Zeorymer – the Dimensional Coupling System – was Miku herself.
: …
: And, after all that, you formed Last Guardian. Were you hoping to eventually take the Zeorymer for yourself and fulfill your own agenda? How childish. In your quest to control the Zeorymer, you resurrected the man you killed in order to do just that.
: …
: Hm…hmhmhm… Very well done, indeed, Oki.
: What are you going to do, Kihara…?
: I've changed my mind... I’ll destroy those Haudragon in order to secure the throne of ruler of the Underworld…!

: ...
: (Why... why was Ms. Mitte aboard the Medius? Does this mean she helped in its theft?)
: (Why did she…? There’s so much that I don’t know…including what I should do now…)
: (Ms. Mitte… I need to know what’s on your mind… Why do we have to fight? Why did you let me go? )

*Beep!*

: …!

: Ah…? A Dragoon was sent for Aqua?
: Just now, yes.
: But what for…?
: The Tsentr Project simply sent people over and they’re delivering, just like that…
: It’s meant as a replacement for the Garmraid/Cerberus, then?
: That’s what it looks like, yes…
: Awfully cold of them, that. Hugo has barely been gone…
: I guess that’s their way of telling Aqua that her mission still needs to be fulfilled, regardless of what happened to her partner.
: What the hell do the Project’s people think she and Hugo are…?!
: I can hazard a guess.
: Still, telling Aqua to fight with that Dragoon in her current state is…
: Hardly fair, yes.
: Speaking of, does she know about this?
: She does. She’s watching over the delivery.

*Door opens.*

: …
: Aqua…
: Did the Project’s people say anything to you?
: Hm. That a new model of TE Absorber is undergoing its final checks and, until that’s done, I’m to fight with that Dragoon to get used to piloting humanoid weapons…
: …!
: That’s absurd. Your injuries haven’t even fully healed…
: She’s right! You don’t have to listen to a crap order like that!
: Still, we can’t do anything about the Dragoon proper.
: …
: Captain, you’re not suggesting…
: We’ll just receive the unit for now. What we do with it is something we’ll decide later.
: You won’t have her pilot, then?
: Right. She should be resting for the time being – inform the Tsentr Project about that, Harry.
: Yes, ma’am.
: …No, Captain. I will fight using that Dragoon.
: …
: Aqua…!
: I…I have to stand and face against the Medius Locus. For myself… and for Hugo…
: Have you ever flown a robot by yourself?
: During training, yes. And this Dragoon has been specially outfitted with a DFC System.
: But that’s crazy. You just went through so much…
: I know… but I need to grow as a pilot.
: (If I don’t, I’ll never be able to figure out what Ms. Mitte’s thinking…)
: …Very well. If you’re so set on this, I won’t stop you. But please don’t push things too hard.
: I understand, Captain.

*Alarm!*

: What is it?!
: A transmission from the Nahel Argama: the Hakke Robos are on the move!
: Have we heard anything from Last Guardian?
: No, nothing!
: Then the Nadesico’ll rendezvous with the Nahel Argama and move to intercept them. All hands, battle stations.
: Roger that!

Mission 29 – What Gnaws at the Heart

Saiga’s making a beeline for Mount Fuji, after the Zeorymer, and Gisou wants to know what he’s playing at. He jokingly asks if the big guy’s scared of the bot, but still explains his reasoning: the Zeorymer has its Dimensional Coupling System back after the last battle but despite the fact that the Tekkoryu are acting, it’s nowhere to be seen.
Thus, Saiga thinks something must be up or, maybe, the bot could be getting an upgrade as they speak. In that case, isn’t it best to get rid of it before that happens? Besides, they can lay waste to Japan at any time.

Gisou isn’t taking it, remembering that the Empress told them not to mess with the Zeorymer anymore. Will Saiga act against that? Rockfell, however, concedes that there's logic to Saiga's words: while the Zeorymer still exists, there is no victory for them. So she also figures the better choice is to head to Mount Fuji and close the book on this.
Gisou grunts at her agreeing with Saiga but will go where she will. Shouldn’t they relay this to the Empress, though? Nah, let’s not give her cause to be mad at those who’ll defeat Heaven. It’s obvious to Gisou that Saiga’s up to something… but he’s got more pressing matters to worry about.

Us! As Bright orders everyone to stop the Hakkeshu’s assault on Japan, Ginga tells Aqua to pull back right away if things get too dangerous. She confirms and thanks him for his concern; inwardly, she tells Hugo to watch: she’ll be fighting as well and will figure out what Elde’s up to when next they meet each other.
Gisou knew his group would need to dispatch us sooner or later and leads the charge with Rockfell… Saiga, however, tells them to wait. The Zeorymer seems to be elsewhere – it’s possible the thing is headed straight for Tekkoryu Castle. What, so he wants to just wait and see? Sounds to Gisou like he’s the one who’s scared – Saiga can sit there but he’s going!
Rockfell watches on as Saiga laughs inwardly: “Heheheh… good, Gisou. That’s the way.”

So Aqua has the distinct honor of being one of the few originals to get to pilot another series’ grunt bot – at least it’s a good one. I can’t record her attacks but, thankfully, Youtube had me covered.

Now, this update’ll simply be focusing on the plot of these MXP missions – if you want the gameplay bits, check the PS2 version. I’d suggest you read through both this mission and the next before you do since, like I said, MXP split the PS2’s 29 in two.

Enemy Phase!

Gisou starts moving… but no one else does.

Why isn’t Rockfell joining on his offensive? She doesn’t answer, further bothering Gisou.
Everything’s coming up Saiga and now he just needs to wait for the Zeorymer to arrive – if it doesn’t, Gisou will make for a good distraction to our people while he heads for Mount Fuji.

Player Phase!

Torres pings something on approach and in comes… something. Its name tag says it’s called Ragou and Ginga and Hokuto figure it’s some Gulfer RoBeast.
Whatever the thing is, the mere sight of it sends our Data Weapons berserk: the Unicorn, Leo and Dragon all rush out the Gear Commanders to attack it! Maria can sense the hostility they’re emanating, so there’s clearly something between Ragou and them.
Saiga has no idea what’s going on but having more stuff attacking the Magnate Ten only helps him. Now to wait some more to see if the Zeorymer will come.

Enemy Phase!

In come more Gulfer, and Ginga wonders if they’re here to pick up Ragou. Regardless, we’ll just get rid of them as well.
Their appearance makes things a bit more troublesome in Saiga’s eyes but they’ll certainly serve to keep our group pinned.

-Vs. Ragou-

: !
: What’s wrong, Fuunsaiki?!
: …
: Fuunsaiki’s afraid… this beast is that strong?!

--

: This guy’s a whole lot different from the other RoBeasts!
: We’ll be in trouble if we let this drag on, Ginga! Let’s win this in a hurry!
: Alright, you got it!

Player Phase!

: (I suppose there’s no point in waiting here anymore – time to set out for Mount Fuji…)
: Going somewhere, Saiga?
: Mount Fuji, you know that.
: You’ll leave us behind and go by yourself? What in blazes are you up to?
: Hmph. I’ve no reason to—
: Hold on, you two!

: Hmhmhmhm…
: The Zeorymer!
: What is this…?! Wasn’t it supposed to have gone after the Haudragon’s HQ?
: More important than that is which Masato is at its controls…!
: Hahahah… I have been waiting for you, Zeorymer.
: So, the last of the Hakkeshu have banded together… but it is still impossible for you to defeat Heaven.
: Silence, Masato Akitsu! You’ll die here and now!

: ?!
: Saiga… what are you doing?!
: Hmhmhm… hahahah…
: Kch…urgh…! What… is…?!
: Masato Akitsu… I have a proposal for you.
: What…?
: The Omzack’s Proton Thunder is the only force that can oppose the Zeorymer…
: Hrrmm… And…?
: And, if one looks at that from a different angle, it means that nothing in this world could stop us if the two of us worked together…!
: Saiga!!

*Gisou runs back, towards Saiga.*

: You’re scheming to betray the Empress, you snake?!
: What of it? Your Mountain and its basic missiles is but a mere pebble face the Omzack. Surely you can see that.
: …!
: What’s up with them…?
: A split between them, maybe?
: Uck…urgh…!
: Very well… I’ll take this as an opportunity to show how committed I am, Masato Akitsu!

: Saiga!

: Hrm! Is that?!
: It is the Burrston of the Mountain’s ace in the hole: nuclear weapons that will, with a mere shot, reduce this entire region to cinders!
: What will you do now, Saiga? I will not hesitate to face death in order to crush your ambitions!
: To Hell with you, Gisou! Proton Thunder!
: SHOOT!!

*Rockfell moves after Gisou.*

: Gisou, stop! If you’d attack Saiga, then you’ll have to go through me!
: !!
: He is the one you love? That man?! He’s simply using you!
: That matters not…! (Is there a hidden clause that says the women Reccoa’s actress voices always make terrible choices in men?)
: Rockfell… I…!
: (Kch… grraaargh… uurk…!)
: Hahahahaha! Cat got your tongue, Gisou?
: (Urgh… kch… argh…!!)
: I love you too, Rockfell. And I’ll say it as many times as necessary! I love you. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!
: ENOOOUGH! ENOUGH! ENOOOOOUGH!!
: !!
: ?!
: “Love”…?! Are you kidding me?! The lot of you are genetically engineered clones, born of the same embryo! You’re not even brothers and sisters – you’re the same person!
: And I am your God, your Creator… Hades!
: !!
: !!
: … And what difference does that make? Even if you were the one who created us… that does not change the life I’ve led.
: And in the emptiness of my life, I met Saiga, admired him as a warrior and eventually loved him! All of it of my own free will!

: And I will not allow you to deny that love!
: All of that was just your programming at work…!

-Vs. Masaki-

: Damned fool…! You still fail to grasp your situation!
: Silence! Whoever you actually are, I will not allow my heart to be denied!

--

: You filth! There is absolutely no forgiveness for how you toyed with us!
: “Forgiveness”? You’re quite impudent for someone standing before his own Creator!

--

: Even if you did create us, all that will be water under a bridge once you’re dead!
: You dare bare your fangs at your Creator? See now the size of your idiocy, Hakke!

Get Ragou low enough and...

: …

: Huh?! It’s—!
: !!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDvPH2eJNnY

: L-Leo!
: Unicorn!
: ?!?!?!?!?!
: !?!?!?!?!
: What’s wrong, Leo?!
: Oh, no… was that…?!
: …

*Ragou flies away.*

: It ran…?!
: Cpt. Hoshino, please recover the Unicorn Drill and Leo Circle! But don’t let Omoikane—
: Access them in any way, yes?
: Right!
: Understood. Harry, once the Unicorn and Leo have been recovered, have them undergo a thorough scan and prepare an emergency vaccine.
: Roger!

*The two Data Weapons are pulled back.*

: Wh-what happened?!
: I’ll explain later – focus on doing something about the remaining enemies!

Once either of the Hakkes or Masaki gets low enough…

: Kch… rrgh…! It’s time for me to… finish this… Hakkes!
: !!

: Saiga… I—

: Ro-Rockfell…!
: Now stop… resisting! You’ll all… share her miserable fate!!
: Curse you… Masaki…!
: You’ll pay for this, Zeorymer!!
: Haah… haah… you dare defy… your Creator…?!
: HAAAAAAAH!!
: You… You!!

*Saiga and Gisou both move in after the Zeorymer*

: U-urgh…hrrmm!!
: GWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!

: Wh-What just happened!?
: Urk…aah…
: Masato… Masato…!
: I… I…!
: Masato… it’s really you…?!
: No… I’m…!

*The Zeorymer retreats*

: … Torres, what’s the status on the enemy?
: The Gulfer and Haudragon are gone… as is the Zeorymer.
: I see.
: Cpt. Bright, the Data Weapons are in poor condition. We should return to GEAR HQ with haste.
: Hm, alright.

Back at the Spiral Castle, the Gulfer have just finished busting their asses to get Ragou leashed. They had to sacrifice a few RoBeasts to be used as bait for the thing, though Giga Absolute asks the Castle if he could put a call in with the Emperor and ask why he sent Ragou to Earth.
No, the Castle isn’t crazy to question the Emperor’s decisions… much less when the big man phones in to ask how Ragou’s doing. It’s… very energetic, the Castle stammers. The Emperor figures it’s because it hasn’t been outside for a while; just leave the thing to acclimate for now as it’ll be very useful against the Dendoh.
Giga Gurumei meekly asks when they can send it back – they haven’t a lot of food available for the beastie. The Emperor disagrees, figuring there are plenty of useless goons that can serve quite nicely... including three incompetent commanders who’ve yet to produce any results.

As the Gigas collectively gulp, Absolute lets out a dry laugh at the Emperor’s “joke”… though whether it remains a joke or not is up to them. Finally, the Emperor tells them not to let his pet get hurt and signs off.
The Castle ponders what happened in the previous battle, witnessing the power the Emperor himself had sealed within Ragou – something never meant to be unleashed. Yet, the creature itself went and broke that seal anyway and said power now courses through its fangs. What is it, then? And what will happen to the Data Weapons? The Castle seems worried…

: Laser scan initiated!
: Send the data to the simulation room as soon as it’s ready!
: Beginning the vaccine program! Hurry, please!
: It’s not working! We’re not going to make it!
: Maybe not but we still need to try!
: Eris, what’s—
: Give me your Gear Commands – now!
: O-OK…
: Send the vaccine program through blocks 24 to 1835, please!
: Roger!
: Eris… what’s going on? Why are they like that?
: Just shut up for a bit, OK?!
: Eris…
: What… what the hell is happening to the Leo and Unicorn…?!

Ask me about being the best dad ever.

: How are the Unicorn Drill and Leo Circle?
: Prof. Inoue and the others are doing what they can… but it doesn’t look good.
: I see… And do we have anything on the Haudragon?
: No, they’re not doing anything.
: If we’re going to take the fight to them, now would be the time seeing how all Hakke Robos except the Zeorymer are gone.
: Yes… but I’m worried about the unit, Masato and Miku…
: They’ve gone incommunicado again?
: Hm. We’ve tried getting in touch with Last Guardian but got no response.
: Do you think they’ve gone back to their base? Or maybe…
: …
: Cpt. Bright, incoming transmission from Director Shibuya.
: Put it through.

*Beep.*

: Cpt. Bright, we’ve received a message from the Federations Far East section.
: It looks like they’re gearing up for an all-out offensive against the Haudragon.
: And they want us to take part in it, right?
: But before you get to that, they want some reconnaissance be done in the area around the enemy stronghold.
: Roger that. The Argama and Nadesico’ll head to the Chinese mainland ASAP.
: Please do. We’ll take care of the Dendoh and the Data Weapons, so be careful out there.
: Yes, sir.

*Beep.*

: Get us ready for immediate launch. And Maj. Katsuragi, I’d like you to put together the recon team.
: Roger that.

: (I haven’t heard anything from the Tsentr Project since…)
: (Even when I asked Prof. Zapato about the Medius’ transformation, they didn’t answer. Same with my questions about the new TE Absorber…)
: (Did Prof. Zapato expect all this from the start… including what Ms. Mitte did?)
: (… But in that case, what are Hugo and I supposed to be? Just convenient pawns to be used for the Project?)

*Door opens.*

: …Ah, here you are, Aqua.
: Kaine…
: Maj. Katsuragi’s just sent orders for a recon mission; the four of us have been teamed up.
: Alright. I’ll get ready to launch.

*Off she goes.*

: She’s looking like she’s bouncing back, don’t ya think?
: I’m not so sure.
: I think she’s pushing herself too hard.
: What, but she’s back to her usual self…
: Exactly. She’s pushing herself way too hard.
: Oh…
: In any case, we should go and have her back… in hopes that Hugo’ll return eventually.
: Yeah…

: Reaching pointed G2009… No problems so far.
: Hey, Kaine, don’t you think we should get back?
: He’s right, we’re gonna end up leaving our scouting area.
: Don’t be stupid, you two. We came way too far to come back empty-handed.
: Only what you call “empty-handed”, others would call “without any headaches.”
: Besides, it wouldn’t do us any good to try to antagonize the Haudragon now.
: But come on. It’s clear those creeps are still up to no good… We oughta be getting in there and putting them down right the hell now…
: I know how you feel but we can’t get too gung-ho. Remember that we’ve got Aqua here with us.
: A-Alright.

*Alarm!*

: !!
: Urk, we spent too long around here! The enemy’s found us!
: See, this is what I was talking about!

: Jovian units…!
: What do we do, Kaine?!
: You know how it is: in for a penny, in for a pound! We’re going in!
: Hey, now, let me remind you that we’re on a recon mission. We should just pull back for—
: We can’t or they’ll know exactly where the Nahel Argama and the Nadesico are!
: I guess that’s true…
: Aqua, you gotta pull back!
: Why?!
: Things here are a bit too dicey for a beginner pilot. Let us handle this, yes?
: …I appreciate the concern but isn’t doing things like this exactly how you got used to the Dragonars?
: I… guess.
: Then I’ll also do the same. I can already picture Hugo’s grin if I didn’t.
: …Alright but if things go south, you need to back off right then and there.
: Aye, aye.

Everyone who’s played MXP remembers this mission with seething hatred – my kid brother did and I remember hearing his yells. It starts off easy enough, provided you’ve kept the Dragonars upgraded… though the Jovians still have that boosted HP.
Just do your best to conserve your ammo and EN (set them on the ground) while building morale from the tiny mooks because, on turn three…

*Alarm!*

: Hrm! This signal is—!

: !!
: We cannot let them get any closer to the Tekkoryu Castle.
: Our target is the Zeorymer of the Heavens… eliminate any and all potential obstacles.
: Urk, it’s those pains-in-the-rear end!
: It’s gonna be real tough to get away from them during a mess like this…!
: We’re just gonna have to make do somehow, then! Ain’t no other option for us!
: Then we’ll stick together and keep engaging them… The second we see an opening, we bolt straight out of here. Alright?
: Yeah, I reckon that’s the only way to go!
: Make sure you stick to us like glue, Aqua!
: Roger that!
: …That dragoon’s movements are sluggish. We’ll start with it.
: This won’t be the end for me…! Absolutely not!

:sigh:
That’s a crapton of new Battas, three Katonbos and four Rokurens. Again, with boosted HP.
And you need to take them all out with the Dragonars and a Dragoon.
Joy.

Once turn five rolls around…

: You doing alright, Aqua?
: I’m managing, yes…!
: (I’ll stand no chance against the Medius if I can’t overcome something like this…!)
: (I will figure out what Ms. Mitte’s up to…!)

Keep on trudging along and on turn seven (or if you kill all mooks except the Hokushin posse)…

: They are quite hardy… how about this, then?

:wtc:

: T-They still had more?!
: That does it...! We need to break through their lines and get out of here right now!
: I really don’t think we’re gonna pull that off without some serious bruises!
: It beats getting shot down! Just brace yourselves for a pummeling!
: I’ll watch your six! You guys take Aqua and go on ahead!
: A-Alright!
: The new MP unit shall fall first.
: !!

: AAAAAH!!

*Aqua’s Dragoon gets blown far away.*

: Aqua!!
: I-I can still fight!
: Your death is come.

*The four mooks surround her.*

: D-drat it!
: This isn’t good, Kaine!
: I’ll get her out! Cover me!

: Huh?!
: What the—?!
: Where did that attack come from?!

: The Cerberus?!
: It’s looking different, though!
: I-It can’t be …!

*The Cerberus rushes over to Aqua’s side.*

: Get in here, Aqua!
: Hugo!
: Whoa, is that really you, Hugo?!
: Yeah… no ghosts here.
: You… you’re safe!
: I am, as you can see. But more important than that is you getting in here right now!
: Is that…?
: Yeah. It’s my… our new TE Absorber.
: !!

*Aqua’s Dragoon despawns.*

: The energy output is unbelievable…! And the way the cockpit’s arranged is…
: I’ll save the details for later. Keep an eye on the TE Engine’s output, alright?
: O-OK!
: This new engine’s way stronger than the old one, so be careful with it.
: Roger!
: And I’m still learning the ropes of this mech… so I’ll need your help with more than just engine management.
: …!
: There a problem? Don’t think you can handle it?
: No, I can!
: Alright…! Then here we go, Aqua!
: Got it, Hugo!

In a normal SRW, this would make for cool times where the MC would plow through the enemies with his upgraded unit… but this isn’t a normal SRW. You’re still facing two fresh Katonbos (21k HP) on top of the previous three and all SEVEN of Hokushin’s cronies (18k).
And if you’re expecting the Nahel Argama and Nadesico to show up with the rest of our crew, don’t. This is everything you’ll get for the entire mission.
The Cerberus is actually the better unit to have here simply due to how EN-hungry the Garmraid is. If you don’t have SP Regen on your folks by now or upgraded them, you’ll be here for a while.

When Hugo gets in battle:

: If you think you’re stopping us with that kind of unit, think again!
: I’ve got our output steady in the blue, Hugo!
: Aye, aye! Engaging!

And when you FINALLY kill everything:

: Yeesh, it’s finally over…
: …
: You really bailed us out there, Hugo. Who knows what would’ve happened if you hadn’t shown up…
: Nah, I’m just glad I made it in time.
: Well, we were all sure you’d be coming back.
: Yeah… I absolutely would.
: Hugo, you…
: We shouldn't hang around here any more than we already did. Let’s get back to the Nadesico and Nahel Argama.
: Yes…

: Hugo, thank goodness you’re safe…!
: Sorry for getting you all worried.
: it doesn’t matter. Not once did I think you to have died.
: All’s well that ends well, right? That’s all that matters.
: Yes…
: But where were you all this time, Hugo?
: The Tsentr Project’s lab.
: Huh…?
: Makes sense, what with him coming back with a new TE Absorber.
: But, how did you get there in the first place…?
: After I was torn out of the Garmraid/Cerberus’ cockpit, I was saved by a rescue team sent by the Tsentr Project.
: (A rescue team…?)
: …
: But how did you not get even a single scratch on you…?
: That’s some otherworldly good luck, I tell ya.
: …

*Beep.*

: Hm? This is… Captain, a small Federation carrier is requesting permission to meet up with us.
: Who does it belong to?
: To Prof. Mitall Zapato of the Tsentr Project, it looks like.
: …
: (Here he comes…)
: Do you have any idea what this is about, Hugo?
: I guess he’s here to run some maintenance on the new model…
: Very well. Then give him permission, Harry.
: Roger that.

: Hugo…
: You finished making your adjustments to the new DFC System?
: Yes, I just had a few issues here and there…
: Well, Zapato’ll be here in a bit so you can ask him whatever you’re not too sure of.
: But forget about that… I’m sorry. It was my fault that whole thing happened.
: Don’t worry about it. What happened with you… was only natural. I was just as shaken up when I found out that it was the Captain aboard the Medius.
: But you…
: The state of my body’s bugging you, right?
: …
: How can I be perfectly fine after being on the receiving end of that much punishment, you’re asking yourself, hm?
: That’s because most of my body’s artificial.
: …!
: I just need to replace some busted parts and that’s the end of that. No different from an MS or a Super, really.
: That’s…!
: … Sorry. I didn’t mean to lie to any of you… I just didn’t want to be the cause of any needless worry…
: …
: And it’s not like I feel any grief over this body… it was the only way for me to survive… and my just desserts.
: Did that happen because…
: Yeah. I was injured during the Cry Wolves’ battle with the Devil Gundam… and left at death’s door. When I came to, I was in the Tsentr Project’s infirmary.
: I only found out later but, apparently, it was Mitall who took charge of my all-but-dead body. He wanted me to help with his experiment as the TE Absorber’s pilot, so he went and remade my body.
: Why…?! Your body could simply have been healed back to normal with the current technology…!
: The units prior to the Medius were brutal. Anyone meant to pilot those things needed a very resilient body… That’s why I caught Mitall’s eye and he took custody of me from the army’s hospital.
: In his eyes, I’m just another component of the TE Absorber.
: Then, that medicine was…?
: To keep my original body from rejecting the new bits… without it, I can’t even move. And, so, Mitall made a leash out of that medicine and kept me bound to the project.
: I-I’m sorry… I had no idea and said such awful things to you…
: No, it’s fine. However this started, I’m now working for the Tsentr Project of my own free will – not because I’m being coerced, but in order to survive. My dead teammates won’t rest in peace if I fail at that.
: That’s how I feel.
: …Hugo…
: Sorry, guess I rambled a bit.
: The Medius is what’s important now. I had no idea the thing could do that… nothing of the sort was written in the project’s specs.
: It’s… likely that Ms. Mitte made several modifications to the original model.
: And who is she? Zapato wouldn’t tell me anything…
: A researcher of combat-oriented artificial intelligence… that is to say, she makes AIs and OSs for drones.
: She works for the military?
: Yes, though she wasn’t doing anything with the Tsentr Project… I’d heard rumors that she’d joined some other confidential project.
: And what’s your relationship with her?
: Back when I was at the military academy… she was a teacher for motion theory in humanoid mobile weapons. And I learned so much from her.
: I… I idolized her. She was a gifted scientist, self-reliant, she always held onto her ideals…
: I ran away from home because I couldn’t stand someone else deciding how I would live my life, so she was everything I wanted to be… I wanted to live as she did, grow into a woman like her…
: But now… she stole the Medius and is my enemy…
: Why… Why did things have to turn out like this…?
: … There’s only one thing I can say… if you don’t fight, you’ll die.
: …
: She and Albero stole the Medius, you know that.
: …
: They were essentially testing us until but, back then, they really tried to kill us.
: They don’t care to play nice with us and if we don’t fight back, it’ll be the end.
: I… I know that. But I still want to figure out what Ms. Mitte’s thinking… I wat to know why she’s doing that.
: That woman weaponized your feelings against you... If you don’t break your ties with her, you’ll die.
: …
: I just want to talk to her one more time… and if that doesn’t work, then…
: …
: But regardless of her, that transformed Medius is still too dangerous to be left alone… if it keeps going, it might well end up with the same powers as the Devil Gundam. We have to stop that, no matter what.
: Yes… with our own two hands.
: Hm. Looking forward to working with you again, Aqua.
: Same here.

Mitall walks in right then, asking how the new Garmraid/Cerberus is doing. Hugo relates (with a frown) that everything’s A-OK. He’s glad to hear that, switching over to Aqua and handing her the spec notes of the new model.
Aqua notes that the Cerberus can actually transform by switching its new Ignite Parts to adapt to varying circumstances. Form G specializes in close-range, hand-to-hand combat and Hugo will be the pilot. Aqua asks if he’s implying that the pilot changes with the mode and, indeed, he is. She will no longer be limited to being a subpilot, taking control of the long-range Form S.
Moreover, the thing also has an upgraded TE Engine and while Mitall won’t call that a perfect model, it’s output and stability are far superior to the original in the Garmraid/Cerberus. The engine should be a lot less finicky now, allowing Aqua to actually fight. As for the mech’s name, Mitall will leave that up to us.

With that decided, Hugo has a question for Mitall: he’s involved with Albero and Elde, isn’t he? Mitall says their doubts are understandable but professes that he, too, was taken aback by what happened to the Medius: he’d set limiters on the Lasmunanium and it shouldn’t have been capable of displaying such abilities.
Hugo asks if we’re supposed to believe that, and Mitall says that we’ve no choice, this is for the sake of our future battles too. Hugo and Aqua frown but stay mum, and Mitall reiterates that our orders are to destroy the Medius. They must stop that thing post-haste.

As Aqua slowly confirms, Mitall tells Hugo that he saw fit to give his body its much needed readjustments after he was recovered. THAT SAID, he still needs to keep taking his medicine so he’ll need to take good care of the stash he has.
Hugo asks him to give him a refill, in that case, but Mitall says no can do: synthesizing the stuff is a difficult, time-consuming work… meaning if he wants more, he better start showing some results first, Hugo fills in the blanks.
Mitall tells him to take his words any way he’d like and, after the maintenance of the new model is finished, he’ll head back to the lab. He wishes us the best of luck in completing our mission.

Location: Tekkoryu Castle

: (The Hakkeshu are all gone… then I’ve only one final recourse left. With this, the world will…!)

: … You will not press that button.
: ! Who…?!
: You are a kind soul… You do not truly desire the world’s destruction.
: What… What is it that you know, Lurahn?!
: It’s Kihara’s ghost that’s pushing you onward…!
: !!
: You are the same as the boy, Masato Akitsu… a clone built from Masaki Kihara’s cells… a proxy of his will…
: Wh-What…?! I’m his…?!
: …
: Then, why, Lurahn?! If you knew that… why did you let me live this long?!
: Because… I wanted to watch as Masaki's rebirth fell to ruin…
: But… you were always so devoted to me…! Why?
: Hah… hahahah…

: !
: You are… truly beautiful…

*Bang!*

: !!

: Lurahn… you…
… It was the will of Masaki Kihara that impelled me all this time…? The ambition I felt was just a lie he planted in my head…?
: Taiha… then what was your death for…?!

Back at Last Guardian, Miku is so very happy to see Masato back. He, however, doesn’t see it like that: he is neither Masato nor Masaki. He can no longer be either, even.
He is a clone of Masaki Kihara, implanted with the guy’s original personality via the Zeorymer – when that happened, he was supposed to have become Masaki himself. Yet, Masato Akitsu, that ordinary fifteen-year-old boy, did not disappear amid that entire process. That dumb kid still lives, struggling and screaming against Masaki Kihara’s schemes. So the question remains: “Who am I?”
Miku doesn’t waver in her answer: “You’re Masato… the same Masato I’ve known all this time.”

Masato marvel at what a gentle person she is – not just her, even. All of the Hakkeshu had such noble hearts… how can it be that he, their creator, is such scum? Miku disagrees, saying they were created as they were precisely because there’s something pure and beautiful within him.
She asks him to leave the Zeorymer and come with her elsewhere – that way, she’s certain he’ll remain Masato. He thanks her for the offer but it can’t be done, not while his other self remains with the Haudragon.
Right then, Oki enters the room: a transmission for Masato has just come in… from Yura. Masato will take her call, as part of his final duty.

Yura figures he already know everything and Masato confirms; she proclaims that the victor between the two of them will emerge as the true Hades. Now, she’s staring at a switch that, once pressed, will destroy the entire world – if Masato wishes to stop that, then he’d best come for her.
Yura ends the call and Masato tells a worried Miku that he can’t run from this. He needs to settle things with his other self and erase Masaki’s lingering evil for good. Miku wants to come with him but Masato isn’t willing to let her and the rest of the Magnate Ten get further involved in this.
He leaves, saying he’ll take care of it by himself.

:siren:

: (… Yes… It should only be me… It’s time to put a definitive end to that man’s… Masaki Kihara’s evil.)
: (Though this might not stem the tide, ever flowing towards the end… if they – the Magnate Ten – are around, then maybe…)
: Masato…
: Mr. Oki… be well…
: Is there nothing I can do, Masato…?
: …
: …I see.
: Don’t... don’t tell the Magnate Ten about any of this, please.
: Just let them know that… the Zeorymer and Masato Akitsu vanished along with their destiny.
: …

*Door opens.*

: …
: Miku… you…
: … I have some memories of where the Tekkoryu Castle is located. We should be able to teleport there if we follow them.
: …
: Please… let me come with you.

Mission 30 – Zeorymer, Sortie at Dawn

: …

: You’ve come…!

:siren:

: Zeorymer of the Heavens…!
: …

: Zeorymer… and Masato Akitsu. Your Dimensional Coupling System is a major hindrance to our plan.
: …
: In the name of our grand new world order… we are here to take you, the Zeorymer and its system!
: Please, stay out of our way.

: Hrm?! This reaction is…! Seize him – so ordered the commander!

*The Zeorymer breaks through their lines, towards the Tekkoryu Castle*

: …
: …

: This is…
: Our fate…

: And now… we’ll all be the true Hades…!

*Alert! And RUUUUUUMBLE!*

: Hrm! What the?!
: W-Was that a shockwave?!
: Look – the western sky!
: !!
: Wh-What is that cloud…?!
: O-Oi, that’s…!
: N-No way, man!
: Report, Torres!
: We’ve detected a massive explosion in the vicinity of point G2547!
: Was that where—?!
: Where the Haudragon HQ was located…!
: Do you think the Zeorymer…?
: Torres, is there any sign of the Zeorymer?!
: Unknown – the blast from the explosion is interfering with all our sensors!
: drat it…!
: Did Masato and Miku…?
: If they were at the center of that explosion, then I don’t think even the Zeorymer…
: …!
: Hold your horses, there! I ain’t buying that until I see it for myself!
: Right… It’s too soon to give up hope.
: All hands, shift to level one battle stations! We’re headed to point G2547!

: …
: … Miku… are you alright?
: Yes… somehow… The Zeorymer’s immobile, though.
: Heh… hahahah…
: Masato…?
: Does this mean… this is my fate…? I, alone, survive, after sacrificing every single one of them? I was supposed to have disappeared along with the Zeorymer, yet…
: But you’re not alone, Masato… I’m here with you.
: …!
: I’m right at your side… so you’re not alone.
: But I and the Zeorymer should have been erased from the face of this world – to atone for all of Masaki Kihara’s crimes… So why did I…?!
: This might be your— rather, our fate…
: To live on, carrying the weight of Masaki’s karma…?
: … Right. There must be a reason why we survived.
: …
: There are still things we must do in this world.
: “Things we must do”, huh?
: You should know what it is, Masato.
: … Yeah, I do. There are still plenty of people who’d bring about the end of this world, just like the Hades Project would have… So, I…

*ALARM!*

: Ah?! This signal is!!

: Gahahaha…HAHAHAHA!
: I-It’s…!
: The Gyandolar…!
: Much appreciated, boy! We found a very nice area thanks to you!
: Huh…? What do you mean?!
: We wur looking a new place tae settle doon, ye ken. ‘N’ jist when we wur thinking thare wis nowhere guid, BOOM!
: So we decided to come and check out this newly vacated plot of land.
: What for?!
: I jist said it – we’re settling doon ‘ere! Oor days of hanging around pinheid’s belly are dain!
: That’s right…! And we’ll be doing our thing from now on! Come on, Lord Gades – bring your illustrious self to this land!

*RUUUUMBLE!*

: Wh-What?!
: This is… space-time is trembling! (Oh, god, not again!)
: Something… Something’s coming here?!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDnsaUt_YV0

: Uurk…!
: Masato, look!

: Is that…!
: Hood ae ye like it? Surprised? That’s Laird Gades’ hame… The Demon Castle!
: Demon Castle…?!

: Very well done, all of you.
: Thank you, Sir Grujios.
: Now we can truly scour this world for the Hyribead… Lord Gades is pleased.
: Yes, sir!
: All that’s left noo is getting rid o’ that bloke thare!
: Miku, is the Zeorymer still immobile?!
: Yes, our output isn’t coming back up yet…!
: Hahaha! You’d best just give it up! Your heads, and your mech, are going to make a nice gift for Lord Gades!

: W-We’re surrounded!
: 'n’ fair warning! If yer hoping that someone’s gonnae save ye, don’t! Nae even ‘im’s enough of a ballheid tae come waltzing in ‘ere!
: “Him”…?!
: Does he mean…!
: Och! Ah, noo… Speak o’ the devil an’ ‘e’ll appear… Again. If ‘e actually did, it’d jist be the werst.
: Hmhmhm… you’ve no reason to fear Rom Stoll. If he showed his face around here, all he’d find was the full might of the Gyandolar and a one-way ticket to Hell.
: So, go! Finish them off!
: So this… truly is my fate…?
: Don’t give up, Masato! For what have we survived up until now if you’ll simply throw it all away here?!
: You’ve survived to meet your death here, fools!
: !!
: Take this as your final lesson in life: there’s only so much luck to go around. And it’s not enough that help would come for you now!
: And now you’re off to the other side!
: HOLD IT!!
: ?!
: Th-that voice… can it be?!

: When evil stars filled the heavens, a grand shooting star emerged…
: Before its light of truth, the evil stars lost their shine and, soon, fell to earth…
: That is what people call… retribution!
: Wh-who goes there?! Name yourself!!

“You do not deserve to know my name!!”

: Wolf Blade! Call forth the thunder of courage!!

: Gaah, the ballheid really came ower!
: TOAAAAAAAAH!

: Now!

: ! Even his goons are here?!
: Drill, Leina! Take them!
: Right!
: You got it!

: Are you two all right?
: Y-You’re…!
: … It’s been a long time, Rom Stoll.
: I say the same… you’ve also returned from Hell, hm?
: Heheheh… I did tell you “I shall return”, no? (he says this in quality engrish, FYI!)
: I’m already very aware of what you’re planning, Grujios… and Gades!
: While we’d hoped it’d be longer before you realized our presence here, it matters not. So long as Lord Gades and the Demon Castle are here, this planet is bound to go the same way of Cronos as we lay claim to its Hyribead! Oh, yes.
: The heavens themselves may allow your villainy but I and the Wolf Blade shall not!
: Take a look whaur ye ur, why don’t ye? This is the Demon Castle! Meaning yer jist like a flame jumping at the moth!
: Ergh, jings…! A moth jumping at the flame, Ah mean!
: Nobody’s laughing at your stupid act!
: Sh-Shut yer geggy!
: Don’t let the girl get to you, Devil Saturn 6!
: Sorry, sis…
: But, either way, what will you do now, Rom? Will you try to settle the score with all of us, right here and now?
: It is not the time for that just yet…!
: Excuse me…?!
: But remember: I will set foot here in the future and, then, I will end the lot of you!
: Hah! You’re gonna run off just like that? Do you really wanna save those two that badly?
: …!
: The lives of comrades in arms versus all your lives… I’ve never seen a more unworthy trade!
: You… you guys really came here just to save us…?!
: Leina, Jet, Drill, Jim! We’re leaving!
: Aye, aye, Rom!
: You may keep your lives for now, Gyandolar! JEEEEEEEEEEEET!!

*Everyone leaves.*

: Th-They really ran…!
: Heheheh… so, now it’s you who says “I shall return”? Then, please, come try your hand whenever you like, Rom Stoll – the moment you do, it’ll be the time of your death! GWAHAHAHAHA!!

Boss man Gades welcomes his faithful servants, with Grujios leading the procession presenting them before him. Deondra quietly sniffs at his “loyal warrior” shtick despite the fact that he’s only now actually taken to the field (then again, that’s Grujios for her).
Still, Gades praises Deondra for all the scouting she’s done in this world and she confirms that, indeed, they managed to find new Hyribead via their usage of the Gulfer. Of course, Gades has heard that this planet is chock-full of obstacles to their conquest.

First in his black list is Rom’s posse, of course, and Ashura quickly requests permission to lead the hunt against them. Gades likes his pluck… but only if he can back it up.
Thus, he calls out to all of the Gyandolar’s commanders: bring him the head of that hateful Rom Stoll and claim the Hyribead, destroying any who gets in the way. Might alone is the code of the Gyandolar!
GADESSIR!

We’re all back at GEAR HQ and Hayato has a question for Masato: “Who are you”?
“I am both Masaki Kihara and Masato Akitsu… but I will not be Hades. I’ll carry on my life as Masato Akitsu…!” is his answer and Miku is very happy to hear it. Seems to Ayato that Masato’s found himself and Hayato is satisfied with his answer.

Masato ponders that, all this time, Masaki had fought in search of a place where he’d feel at home… the problem is that the place he found was the throne of Hades, sitting at the end of everything. To Masaki, that empty world, where nothing but him exists, is where he’d be at peace.
Of course, as Domon sees, Masato rejected that idea and Ayato knows why: because he already had a place where he belongs. Ryouma also agrees, noting that the world will never turn him away so long as he loves it. Duke throws in his two cents, too, pointing out that Masato has plenty of comrades – friends that will welcome him.
The kid is thankful for their kind words. While he still isn’t sure if this is where he should be, he’ll help them protect this world as he searches for it. And Miku will be there for every step of the way because he is, and always will be, Masato to her.

And they all lived happily ever after – Judau likes it and so does Roux, knowing this to be a good ending from the smile on Miku’s face.
Asuka also approves: managing to make a clean break from your problem is always better than angsting about it nonstop like someone. When Amuro asks, Bright sees no problem with Masato and Miku staying with the team; now that the Haudragon and their plans are no more, they’re free to do as they please.
Misato isn’t too happy, though, as while that’s one enemy force taken care of, another one has truly set itself on the board now.

Rom and co. are still here after bringing the Zeorymer back and Domon wants to take this opportunity to talk: would he be willing to tell us who his group is and what do they want? Indeed, Rom ponders that the time might have come to do just that.
Jet confesses to being a bit bashful in seeing us face-to-face, despite how many times we’ve seen each other in the battlefield. On that subject, Quattro extends them our thanks for all that help but Jet figures it wasn’t anything special – no need for thanks (Kaine watches with a grin as the two sunglasses finally meet).
Rom quickly introduces himself and his companions, with Duke remembering what he heard of them back in Planet Fleed. Rom confirms his origins as a Cronosian, saying it was the Wolf Blade that guided them to this world.

When Kouji asks, Rom materializes said sword out of thin air to show it to us. It holds the power to traverse dimensions and thus it guides them. Tetsuya is curious how, exactly, the blade guide them. Why did it bring them to Earth?
For JUSTICE, Rom says with a completely straight face, much to Kaine’s amazement. Light, however, expected Rom to be just like this, considering the way he enters the battlefield.

To put it in more tangible terms, Jet says they were brought here in pursuit of the Gyandolar. And while we’re somewhat familiar with the criminal syndicate from their cooperation with the Gulfer, they are far more so than that: their operations run on the galactic level.
The appearance of the Demon Castle, their HQ, in this world shows that they’re for real now. Kouji and Akira ask what interest Earth holds for the Gyandolar in the first place – is all this just to steal Data Weapons?
No, while Rom concedes that the creatures’ power would interest the Gyandolar, there is only one thing they truly seek: that which is called Hyribead. Back in Cronos, Hyribead is a legendary treasure said to promise eternal life to anyone who claims it. Hayato laughs at the thought of even interplanetary machine overlords being drawn to the idea of immortality.

Still, Ryouma is confused: the Hyribead is a Cronosian legend, yet, it can be found on Earth? Rom can’t answer that question but knows that, if anything, he and his comrades will not sit idle and let the Gyandolar run amuck. Bright knows from what we’ve seen that the syndicate brings only conflict and chaos to Earth, so he asks if Rom would like to join forces.
Amuro and Daisuke add that we’re also fighting forces that threaten our world, so the Gyandolar and Gulfer obviously fall in that category. Quattro knows it’s only going to get worse, so we need all the help we can get to oppose the incoming tide.
Rom accepts our proposal ( :syoon: ), adding that he and his group came to meet with us precisely because they were considering that alliance.

Jet and Drill concur, having seen our righteousness over our past shared battles. They know we’re the real deal. Domon’s seen the same thing and though we’re not of the same race, he has no problem whatsoever with trusting them to watch his back.
Rom feels the same way and, bearing faith in each other’s fists, they shall fight together until the forces of evil lie in ruins! :black101:
… Of course, there’s still the question of why any of this is happening considering Leina vividly remembers them destroying the Gyandolar before. So does Jim and, yet, the villains are not only back to life but they’ve no memory of their defeat.
Drill figures they’ll find an answer to that question as we hunt them down. With all this done, Misato wants us to get back to GEAR on the double – Maria agrees, also worried about the Data Weapons.
When Rom asks, they tell him about the two-headed beast that attacked them. His shocked reaction indicates he knows what the thing is; and if it’s what he’s thinking, Rom says we’ve no time to lose.

Back at GEAR, Eris has figured out what’s wrong with the Data Weapons: they’ve been infected with a virus. In truth, the creatures are essentially programs given form – their bodies are just data, which is why regular attacks can’t do any lasting damage to them.
The two-headed beast’s fangs weren’t regular attacks, though, and Rom knows exactly what it was: Ragou, a demon that sows terror and destruction where it treads. This is the kids’ first time meeting Rom face-to-face, though they recognize their regular savior right away.
After a quick introduction, Eris wants any information he can offer on the RoBeast that did this; he doesn’t have much to offer, but rumor has it that Ragou’s the pet of the Gulfer Emperor.

The problem to Eris is that we still have no idea how that creature managed to bite and inject this virus into beings whose bodies are intangible data. As an analysis of the Data Weapons comes in, we see a whole lot of red – the virus has already corrupted about a third of their data.
Eris and the girls have been running anti-virus programs but all that’s doing is holding the corruption at bay. It’s only a matter of time before it fails, though, as whatever vaccine they try, the virus quickly starts evolving to resist it.
In fact, Domon and Rain see a very disturbing pattern in this continuous self-evolution and multiplication in response to the environment… the virus is acting pretty much like the DG Cells would.

Ginga asks what’ll happen once the virus turns all the Leo and Unicorn’s data all red... and Eris slowly says that they’ll disappear. Ginga begs Eris to say that she can cure them but her silence speaks volumes.
Rain and the other tech folks are doing everything they can but their survival depends on them finding a vaccine that truly works against the virus. Domon and Rom seem to have a way to make that happen: how is it that one makes an antivenin? From the enemy that produced the poison in the first place.
Inoue sees their point, figuring we may be able to make a proper vaccine for the virus if we had Ragou’s data to base it on. That means capturing the thing, an idea Eris finds insane not only due to how its venom would be deadly for anything but also how the thing’s likely inside the Spiral Castle.

Hokuto and Ginga are still going, though, and Rom approves: “Those are fine eyes… these boys have the strength to fight for what is dear to them.”
“Of course,” Domon adds, “they already are fully-fledged warriors.”
Eris isn’t sure about this but Hokuto and Ginga are: if Ragou’s data is the only way to save the Unicorn and Leo, then they’re going to get it. Aiko doubts the Dendoh can take that thing on by itself but Hokuto and Ginga figures the jury is still out on that; plus, it’s not like they have a choice. The Data Weapons are their friends and they won’t give up on them.

Vega agrees with their point – the Unicorn and Leo are irreplaceable, not just for the kids and Earth but for the entire universe. Rom concurs, having heard legends of the Data Weapons’ holy powers. We have to do everything possible to preserve them.
And, ultimately, Ginga and Hokuto’s friends are our own friends; Domon and our crew are ready to help save them. Vega will pass on our plan to Bright and Misumary, while Eris will do whatever she can to keep the virus at bay. Ginga and Hokuto will be doing their part, so they ask her to care of the Leo and Unicorn – they will be bringing that data back.

Misumaru’s already approved our operation, though Bright knows we can’t simply ignore all other hostile forces acting on the surface right now; thus, the Magnate Ten will be split in half. Misumaru does warn Bright to be careful when dealing with the Giganos on the moon.
Operation Moonraker, their anti-Giganos offensive, is getting ready to go as we speak; he’d rather us not give the enemy cause to be further wary on the verge of it happening. If we run into the guys, prudence is the word.
Bright confirms and Misumaru does add that, once our lunar operation is finished, that half of our crew will take part in Moonraker. The operation’s command wants our firepower as part of the main offensive force. And, with that, Misumaru ends the call.

Vega thanks Bright for helping this happen but he’s well aware of how important the Data Weapons are. Now we need to set up our teams and considering Moonraker will have us dealing with Giganos – and, likely, Martian Successors – Bright decides to have Ruri lead that group.
The Dendoh crew will obviously be going, plus the Cronosians since they also have info on the Gulfer. The Aestis go where their ship goes, of course, and our MSs are well suited to dealing with Metal Armors.
Finally, if we’re also dealing with the Successors, Saburouta figures we gotta bring the Daimos crew along. Hugo and Aqua have free rein to choose where they’re going, so here’s how it is:

Space Route – Nadesico B:
  • All Gundams, except the Gundam Fighters
  • Dendoh
  • Daimos
  • Aestis
  • Machine Robo

Surface Route – Nahel Argama:
  • Getter
  • Mazingers
  • Grendizer
  • EVA
  • Dragonar
  • Raideen
  • Zeorymer
  • G Gundam
  • RahXephon

Once the choice is made, the Nadesico will be headed to the moon as soon as resupplies are concluded. Shibuya tells Vega that Eris will remain here to watch over the Data Weapons; plus, the Cell Fighter’s being changed into the Cell Booster for her to use. Vega promises to use it to claim Ragou’s data.
Shibuya’s dejected that once again they must force such a difficult battle onto Bright and Ruri’s teams but she doesn’t mind – this is what we’re here for. Bright agrees, saying we’re simply doing what’s necessary to protect Earth and peace.
