well it's target shooting not skeet but yeah, they use real rifles in olympic biathlon there's plenty of shooting sports at the summer olympics that use real firearms though...50m/25m pistol, 25m rapid fire pistol, 50m rifle prone, and 50m rifle three positions. Also the shotgun events (trap, skeet, and double trap). e: I should point out that all of the pistol and rifle events are all chambered in some version of .22. Airgun and Small bore are two different events which take different disciplines, a lot of athletes compete in both though. The unfortunate looking girl who won us our first gold medal will be shooting .22lr in a day or two. The real bullshit came in with London. Can't have a bunch of Olympians at a sanctioned sporting event with ~pistols!!!~ so they gave them laser pointer adapters. If I'm recalling correctly, they sprung this idea on the athletes only like a month or two before the games so they barely had time to practice with the dumbass things.
