Last I checked, Twitch peaks out at something like 3.5 megabits per second. That's very low for 1080p at 60 frames per second even in ideal circumstances when you consider that Blu-rays are typically 24 frames per second (although can do 60) and allow you to go up to 50 megabits per second. I think you can cheat the quality in various ways, such as limiting your broadcast to 720p and/or 30fps, having your layout of game screen/facecam/whatever else laid out in such a way that specific parts of the screen are compression-friendly, things like that. But at least with Twitch blockiness is inevitable, not sure if the alternatives like Youtube Gaming are better.

Hitbox is a little better but none of the game streaming sites are that great tbh

You install ImgBurn and its DC driver/plugin and then you burn the .cdi files onto a disc. A good tutorial is easy enough to google. It shouldn't be too hard. Make sure that you have the proper ROMs, there's a good modern set floating around.

I actually miss the age of digitized graphics in games. I was obsessed with Mortal Kombat 1-3 (and Trilogy and Ultimate) but MK4 was when I officially stopped enjoying them. I even tried the newest one that everyone loves and I can't get used to the controls. Not to mention pressing down and HP is not the same as it used to be for whatever reason? Why'd they change that?

Because MK3 is old and not actually good to play

Like compare an Atari 2600 title to a 5200/Atari 800 release. Then Colecovision or Intellivision. Maybe Apple 2, Trs 80, Vectrex, Vic 20, C 64, Spectrum, PC DOS, and TI 99 4a. Possibly Tandy Color Computer 1-2. That is a fuckload of existing platforms all being simultaneously supported and active with some level of traction. And then things like Odyssey 2, Bally Astrocade, Adventurevision, BBC Micro, Aquarius, and other ultra niche or regionally popular platforms and well.. Kinda hard to show 1 version.

And poo poo, give people modern dev tools, a bit more time to work on it, or just expanded game size and it's kind of sick what people can do. There are multiple A800 and C64 fixes and ports of old classics. Intellivision as well. Donkey Kong and Pac Man seem to be obsessions and franchise projects of the Golden Age homebrew set.

So the ad isn't the ultimate crime some of y'all seem to insist. Iffy but it was the nature and reality of the times.

All of Nintendo's big titles planned for 2017 are a sidescrolling Pikmin, a Mario sports collection, a port of Wooly World, and a weird looking RPG. That's it for February/March 2017 and I certainly don't expect anything new for Wii U other than multiplatform releases.

It played Mega Man Zero and Mother 3 without issue so that's acceptable to me. Even the music timing in Mother 3 was on point.

Unless the Switch completely bombs in all markets the Wii U and 3DS will be phased out like the Wii, DS, Gamecube, GBA, SNES, Gameboy Colour, Gameboy, Virtualboy and NES were.

It seems more the size of a Kindle Fire original, maybe a tad bigger. That isn't exactly going to appeal to the same market or consumer need I don't think. Especially in Japan. With the controllers it kind of won't work for travel gaming. It pretty much looks to be a thing you need dedicated space in a backpack for.

It's tablet sized so it is basically going to be in the tablet sphere of use. I don't know if said sphere will accept it, the Nintendo faithful will join that group in usage of their device, or if it could properly replace what the 3DS does now which no other portable device except maybe the Vita (if you even count it as an active machine..) actually does.

I sure as gently caress don't see a need for it. I've been needing pants pocket fitting game devices since 98 or so. The Switch is not that. And I already have a good tablet for tablet computery things which it's not gonna do well if Nintendo even bothers to make it do such things. gently caress, a cheap modern Android tablet is probably BETTER for every day use and some retro gaming with a Bluetooth controller! (And some have video out capability so you can have your briefcase retro games device when you don't want to pay for hotel porn or something..)

Nintendo is 100% replacing the 3DS and Wii U with the switch and Sony is never making another handheld. Devs won't have to split resources between a console and handheld anymore because for the vast majority of people a cellphone fits the pocket gaming niche.
