Shroud of the Avatar was NFTs before NFTs. It came out at that time where games in development/crowdfunding just had to do FOMO poo poo (limited quantities, sales stopping upon release, etc.) on transferrable digital goods and they'd sell out to people who didn't care about the game and just hoped they could resell it for a profit later. I haven't really seen that stuff lately, I guess because the market evolved and actual NFT-based games are the hot poo poo now.
