Man, I envy you guys going with digital. The sheer concept of an english SRW game was enough to drop dough for the physical version. Monday :smith:

Did anyone actually end up going with the LE?

I just got my copy too, and I guess there's the PS4 theme.

I don't know if it's a good theme or not, but I'll probably make an account just to grab it. I still can't get over actually owning a physical english (ostensibly) SRW game. :neckbeard:

For MD, what should I be using my PP for? Every other game I've played (GBA OG1/2, Alpha Gaiden), I've always just bought the cheapest abilities I could find as soon as I could, but I've been saving more in this game, and I've got about 400 on most of my main units at about mission 25. Should I just dump continuous action on everyone I can?

So, another question about PP - for a semi-locked subpilot like Shoko, is there any reason to grab any skills that aren't directly related to just using spirits? Or do the other relevant skills carry over to the combined mech? I assume only the main pilot's skills are applied, but can't hurt to ask.

What's giving you trouble?

Doing damage, even with MB, is going painfully slow. Plus, I tend to prefer reals and tend to spec for evasion, so my supers are pretty hilariously weak, ditto their pilots. So when the boss is accurate enough to just plow through any evasion, it's hard going. The last few bosses I've gotten by with gratuitous overuse of the 50% all heal spirit, but the people with those tend to be my front line too so they're getting sealed.

I might need to fail this a few times to afford powering up my supers.

A few things you should do:

Give Leona or Rai your Armor Breaker (preferably Leona) and have her use Smite and then attack with it. That will massively debuff the enemy's armor.
If you have Excellen or Aschen deployed use their Dishearten spirit to reduce his morale which has a tremendous impact on his combat abilities.
When he does his "power up" thing and uses Iron Wall on himself stop attacking. Just let the round end. You're going to eat a LOT more damage from counterattacks after that point but most of those buffs will wear off the next round and the one that doesn't (Flash/Alert/whatever) will go after the first attack you do so save a crappy attack (battleship maybe?) for that.
Remember that some pilots can undo sealing. Kusuha is the optimal deploy for that because she has a super-cheap spell that recovers status effects. So does the Granteed's locked subpilot.

The last is the most important. You'll sacrifice your turn but attacking after he powers up is a HUGE downside.

Yo, thanks for these. Dragging along my super low level Kushua as a Spirit monkey, throwing Dishearten around a lot, and ending the turn right after he buffs himself got me through it with no trouble whatsoever. Probably would've been even better if I had remembered to drag an armor breaker. Whoops.

What's so special about Leona/Rai for that weapon though?

Ah, okay. I'll keep that in mind for the next go round. Which I'm starting right now for a full SR point run and to catch the routes I didn't pick the first time. :v:

My final top killers was a bit of an odd one:

Basically the first thing I did when I got the Gespenst Haken was throw Latooni in it and max it out and rode that unhittable train all the way to the bank. I used her a lot, but soloing two endgame maps does wonders for kill counts. After that was Haken, Calvina, and Ing. None but Calvina in their default units because I'm dumb and love messing with suit assignments. :downs:

Still, MD was amazing. I've loved SRW since forever, but my own personal lack of language skills has kept me from delving deep into them because of the language barrier, so I've only played translated stuff and read what I could. Really chomping at the bit for the next game now.

I believe it works like this: in your 2nd playthrogh you carry over 50% and then that 50% is included in that playthrough's stuff for when you do the next one. So you get 50% of first playthrough, then 75% of that 50%+2nd, 100% of that 75%+third playthrough.

Eg: for money say you got 20 million first playthrough, that becomes 10 million at the start of the second. You earn 20 million again so next play through is 75% of 30 million, and so on.

Ah, so it is cumulative, okay. It does say at the start that it gives 25% for NG+, 50% for NG++, 75% for NG+++, and 100% for NG++++ and beyond.

Also holy poo poo gently caress the SR Point where you have to kill 15 enemies in two turns.

So in continuing my learning about how SRW really works as opposed to my horrible flailing in the other games I've played, how is co-op attack damage determined? By which I mean, do you need to upgrade the weapons of both suits involved?

Yeah, you need to upgrade weapons of both things involved in a combination attack. That will raise the cumulative attack value for both people. For example, with Rampage Ghost, you upgrade Revolving Stake/Bunker and Oxtongue W/Howling X both in order to get a maximized bonus.

Ah, okay. I was hoping I'd just have to upgrade the SRX, but might as well pour some cash into the R-Gun's weapons too. I wanna see what this baby is really capable of, since I've never been too keen on either suit. At least for the four or five missions I have left in MD's endgame.

I'm kind of legendarily terrible at strategy games that aren't called Disgaea (and it's been argued that those don't even count so :v:), so SRW seems plenty hard to me as-is, but I also make terrible decisions on the regular. Especially when given access to pilot swapping, because I just can't help myself, and tend to throw pilots I like into suits I like, with little to no thought given to their strengths or team comp. Like throwing Ibis in the Giganduro or Ing in the Gungrust Kai so I could give the EX Exbein to Mai.

I'm sure if I actually played pilots to their strengths, or used suits/pilots I didn't care for, I'd be saying they're too easy too.

Considering that the Deep Striker was loaded down with as much fuel and guns that they could to make it an effective long range, extended deployment behind enemy lines unit, that's a lot of fuel it needs.

Pretty much everything the Deep Striker has is powered by its reactor alone. Its reactor which outputs about 11x more power than the RX-78's and over 2x more power than the Ex-S's. They literally crammed a battleship reactor, main gun, and i-field into the thing, then strapped enough boosters to it to move it at ludicrous speed and then enough fuel to it to keep it working for weeks.

It's beautiful. :unsmith:

ACES CURE PLANES
Oct 21, 2010

Not quite that far, no. At least not for weaponry. It's got the standard Gundam vulcans, and two smaller beam cannons mounted to it, as well as some INCOMs (basically prototype funnels, guided by wires), and a slightly modified version of the Ex-S's gun to make it fire faster.

It's just that the battleship mega particle cannon and i-field are incredibly ludicrous for MS mounting. So what it lacks in number of weapons, it makes up for in having a giant fuckoff sniping cannon with ludicrous firepower and an insane shield.

They definitely strapped all the thrusters in the world to it though, so it can haul rear end despite being gigantic.

Edit: Transitioning away from robot stat nerdery (though it does still fit the theme of strapping ludicrous equipment to MSes), do we know yet if the Penelope will be in SRWV? I mean, I love the Xi too, but I'd die happy if both units were in the game. :swoon:
