I'm getting the impression that the OP may not be entirely sober. Though it's sometimes hard to tell the difference between someone under the influence of stimulants and someone with schizophrenia.

That being said, I think that you're generally correct and the downsides usually outweigh the benefits, but it's still something that needs to be considered on a case by case basis and isn't always a bad thing (though it usually probably is).
