Problem description: The SATA data connector pins have broken off my HDD when upgrading my system. It's completely busted. I'm thinking take out the PCB from the donor drive, take off the SATA connector bit, and solder it onto the PCB on my broken drive, then put the PCB back on. Maybe? I don't actually have the screwdriver or soldering irons for this, so I'd like some actual knowledge first before I drop 30bux on the star screwdriver and soldering iron kit. Attempted fixes: Holding onto the SATA cable and trying to keep it attached manually did not work. Swapped PCB from a donor drive which is the exact same model (ST1000DM003) to the broken one, did not work, caused it to spin up for a couple seconds then a beeping sound actually?
