This might be the only gen where I don't use a starter because I don't care much for the final form of Rowlet and my brother has dibs on Poppilo's. Its not even that I think its bad, there are just so many new designs I like more than it.

A japanese gaming mag (and in turn, serebii.net) has confirmed that hyper training maxes out the IV in whatever stat you pick. No word yet on how rare the bottlecaps used to access hyper training are going to be though, or what tiers they come in if any (although the item being called "silver" bottlecap does give the impression of at least a gold bottlecap existing).

Still, to live in a world where I can raise the stats of my adorable war machines using pogs? Who knew this is what the future would hold. :allears:

A cool feature I will barely ever use since breeding a 5Iv pokemon is actually really easy when you have a 6 IV ditto. Raising them to level 100 would take more effort.

But now my shiny Pinsir can be perfect instead of near perfect so that's cool.

Yeah while raising IVs is all well and good, nature is even more important for competitive play. The wrong nature can completely break a pokemon.

Yeah it seems really bad. Raising your defense when you get hit by a super effective move is already not that great since you're already heavily wounded. But its raising defense against water attacks, which are almost always special. So what, it can get hit by surf one turn and then die to it the next? Great.

Hopefully it will have a hidden ability that's actually good.

EDIT: Oh I guess since we're all doing this

ORAS was disappointing to me because the Battle Resort was just copy-pasted from X/Y for the most part. The Battle Frontier was probably the 3rd gens coolest feature and they just didn't include it. The Delta Episode was also insanely mediocre so that didn't make up for the lack of it at all.

Team Flare's goal makes sense if you view them as ultra selfish assholes that read too much Atlas Shrugged. Wipe out most of the world's population so that only the best and brightest will be left, preventing its natural beauty from being tarnished by over-consumption.

But they tried to paint Lysandre as not being a total rear end in a top hat so it doesn't work.

VVV Yes, everyone in Team Flare is a rich idiot that got roped in by Lysandre. By paying 5 mil pokebucks you get a slick suit and the privilege of living in Lysdanre's Gulch once he builds it.

I'm not sure how many of them knew he was gonna kill 99% of the world in the process.

Alternatively Guzma will try to nuke all the islands. Could go either way.

My first shiny was a Roselia I caught in the original Ruby. I lost it somewhere between the generations. If transferring from old games wasn't such a pain in the rear end I might go looking for it. Not because I actually care about it but rather because I'd also find the two mews I used to have. Trying to get event mons sucks.

The first (and only) shiny I got that I actually care about is my Pinsir, which I spent a good chunk of time breeding for.

Fairy being added to the game was good overall but ice has never been more horrible than it is now. With fairy types being immune to dragons AND hitting them super effectively, ice types lost their position as dragon slayers. The only thing it has going for it is that it hits a lot of dragon types for 4x damage due to them being dragon/flying or dragon/ground. That just means you carry ice moves on other pokemon though.

Gen 2 didn't even add a dragon type.

I wonder if there's even the slightest chance of Gamefreak rebalancing the game for Sun & Moon. It's kind of sad that with over 700 to chose from only a handful are viable in competitive play.

This isn't actually the case. There are tons of viable Pokemon, its just that most of them are outclassed by a Pokemon that does their job better. You can still use them perfectly fine. There are also plenty of Pokemon that aren't outclassed at all but are just ignored because a bunch of the people that play Pokemon don't actually go through the effort to make a team. They just look up whatever dominates the current meta and clone that.

League of Legends is one of the worst examples you could use for this because a bunch of characters in that are completely ignored in the competitive meta.

And yes when you allow legendaries poo poo gets really reptitive, but that's why you stick to the normal competitive formats where they aren't allowed. I have no idea why they thought letting them into VGC this year was a good idea.
