What matters is what fits in your team. If you want to use Xatu anyway, you can construct a team that Xatu's unique skills fit perfectly in, but it'll be hard to use. The mainstream competitive metagame isn't so much defined by the best pokemon as it is by the ones that are easiest to use well. And, of course, the popular ones become easier still because more analysis of them is published.

This is a good way to explain it. There are plenty of unconventional teams that can work, but it takes a lot more effort and experimentation on your part to refine them. The most popular teams on Battlespot are the ones you can just read some guide about and throw out with no thought on your part.

I remember him because he has a big goofy smile. Also you catch him in the same place as Skorupi, so in my head he's friends with Drapion, who is extremely cool and good.

But yeah he's pretty poo poo gameplay wise. Been around for 3 generations and he still only has one ability that isn't particularly great for him.

EDIT: Also Carnivine has a really cool cry.

People rag on their original Pokemon do not steal being so grim dark but really there not much more than as hairs breadth away from how weirdly dark and sinister some actual Pokemon are.

Drifloon poses as a balloon so little children grab him and then takes them to the underworld(or tries to but they're too heavy). That new sandcastle one gives babies out that are born from the malice of the small Pokemon it has defeated and eaten. One of my favorite thing about the Pokédex is the ridiculously foreboding atmosphere compared to the lightheartedness of literally everything else in the series.

(Though I agree those uranium designs are weak, mostly)

Yeah some of the ghost pokemon have really sinister entries, but they aren't straight up "THIS IS A POKEMON THAT DIED FROM ABUSE AND NEGLECT HOW SAD".

Maybe I'll give it a look after I beat Sun.

The format VGC uses changes by season, When its not a stupid one where legendaries are allowed to run rampant, its not hard to make a proper team without hacking.

Goodra is the worst. I like Goomy and think Sliggoo is super adorable and amazing. One of my favorite designs. Then instead of continuing with the snail theme, it turns into a pink goopy version of Dragonite. It doesn't even keep its little slimy shell!

Sometimes I'm tempted to come up with an eviolite Sligoo strat but I know it wouldn't effective at all in doubles.

I like the fact that mega evolutions are amplified versions of the standard design. It sort of sets an upper bound for the essential complexity of a pokemon's design. A design that exceeds a certain degree of complexity looks unusual in a pokemon, so linking that excess to something that makes it also mechanically special is a good decision.

Agreed. Like, I think Mega Mawlie would be a stupid evolution but as a mega evolution it works perfectly.

The correct nature is way more important but if you are playing competitive you really shouldn't settle for imperfect IVs. If you're breeding properly, you can always guarantee the hatched mon gets the nature you want. From there its just a matter of time until you get a pokemon with max IVs in its important stats.

Nah, Kamen Rider Digimon was pretty rad, actually. Except near the end of the series where only 2 of the 6 kids could help in battle at all, but that's a problem the show shares with Adventure and 02.

Weren't all the kids in every series overshadowed by the designated protagonist being the one that does the most important poo poo?

One thing I do vaguely recall about the Digimon shows is that when they moved on to new seasons, time actually progressed and the old characters showed up as young adults. I thought that was neat cause I compared it directly with Pokemon where everyone seems to be frozen in time.

How do I do this? Do both parents need the same nature? I'm trying to hatch a Heracross with Adamant nature. I've bred a male Crustle with female Heracross in order to get the Rock Blast move.

If either parents is holding an everstone during breeding, every pokemon they produce will inherit the nature. You should read this page on breeding, it explains a lot of tricks you can do with various held items to guarantee certain results in breeding.
