If a person put's as much effort into ironing out BethBugs from those games as Arthmoor does, I can't imagine them not being a crazy piece of poo poo such as Arthmoor is.

How are Immersive Armors/Immersive Weapons now for Skyrim SE? Last time I used either was back in Oldrim probably in the 2012-2013 time frame and both created some issues in the levelled lists that I can't remember. Are they still the go-to for additional weapon/armor variety in the game? And are there any complete texture packs that do the Neural AI upscaling that Oblivion and Morrowind have?

I've been reading about some newish mod called Legacy of the Dragonborn. Is this a cool and fun mod to drop in the middle of my game? I'm fairly lightly modded and only just started this character.

Do I need to do some weird Wrye Mash magic to merge those weapons and armor into my levelled lists, or do the mods take care of that already? I'm pretty much over doing crazy mod setups. I like to add a few choice things here in there, keep it low maintenance, and just play the game. TIA!

My favorite time with the Skyrim intro was when I installed an "Immersive Carriages" mod (don't remember the name.) It somehow hosed with the physics of the carriages and the carriage in the intro would constantly get stuck on poo poo, bounce and flip, or just rocket into the sky dropping everyone on the ground. It was bananas.

Schadenboner posted:Which is a shame because if it’s the mod I’m thinking of it really did a lot of great work making the carriages work better. Like: do you really want to schlep all the way out to loving Rorikstead? Especially since the yellow flower mod makes it the closest place to Whiterun and Lakeview Lodge to find them. It was a good mod, but I've never been a fan of installing script heavy mods mid game-save, so while the obvious fix was to only check the ESP after the introduction, my mod neurosis prevented me from doing as such.

Speaking of Skyrim mods, what's Wildcat like? I've got most of the mods of that modding dude, but am wary of actually using a combat mod since I don't want combat to become a slog.

I haven't played vanilla combat in a while but I like what it does. Combine it with Realistic Ragdolls and Force highest settings and it makes smacking hordes of skeletons pretty fun. Noted, I'll check that out. I've been avoid physics mods for the longest time because the last one I tried had some weird bugs that broke the game. Trust me, blasting necromancers into the horizon with Ice Spike never gets old. Thinking about it, I think that's what it was actually. The intro was breaking and I had to uninstall. And then I hate installing mods on a game-in-progress because of how delicate Skyrim's scripting is. Is Wildcat or Smilodon safe to drop into an on-going game?

Are there any mods that do things like increase run/walk speed or jump height with either perks or raising Stamina? One side effect of removing attributes is that I can't see my character being able to do things like jump higher or run faster and that was part of the fun of character growth. At least more Stamina gives you more carry weight.

Having recently done that tower/dragon quest with Arthmoor's dumb dragon voice, I didn't think that scene was nearly as bad as it was made out to be. It's super quick and the VA isn't as bad as folks make it out to be. I mean it's definitely not good. But the idea that someone would take the time to mod that out says more to me about that particular modder than any of the goofy poo poo Arthmoor gets up to.

My dream Elder Scrolls levelling system is a system where we have individual perk trees just like Skyrim, but each tree is a class from the older games instead of a skill. So a knight tree, thief tree, scout tree, battlemage tree, and so on. And each tree's perks can be mixed and matched together to form the ideal class, ideally with zero "+5% to make biscuits" skills. This system is basically a mix of what Skyrim has now with the Grim Dawn/Titan Quest system of levelling up. Then bring back attributes and just gives us, say 5 pts to distribute every level so folks aren't "gaming" what skills they use. Then you need to be able to track a lot more behaviors of the character to determine where invisible points are gathered so you can level up. Or just use experience pts. Maybe make it so if you pickpocket someone, you raise a "thief" point, and enough points and you can take a new perk in that tree. Breaking into someone's house at night? Points in the Burglar tree. Manage to block a blow with your shield while wearing Iron or Steel heavy armor? Point in the Knight or Crusader tree. poo poo like that. You can do a lot with a system that rewards player action and also rewards diversity.

I still think Morrowind has the best combat system. You can actually feel your character getting better, instead of always hitting damage sponges forever. It’s still not a “good combat system” be neither is Oblivion’s or Skyrim’s and it’s better than that.

Whenever playing Morrowind, make a point to walk everywhere and only run if I need to get away. The game is just too pretty to speed by all of it. I like the sedate pace of the game and usually install mods to make running drain fatigue in both Oblivion and Skyrim.

I haven't used MO2, but I've used MO. If MO2 does the same "virtual skyrim directory magic" that MO did, then having MO2 installed directly into the Skyrim folder might cause it to break. At least I'd think it would? Doesn't MO2, like MO, create a virtual version of the Skyrim folder, and it won't "see" anything that isn't specifically specified in MO? I'm probably over thinking it and maybe it's fine. And per the above user, having a Skyrim folder inside of Skyrim likely means a mod wasn't installed at the right directory level, and could cause anything from that mod to not work, to breaking every other mod, depending on how it's all setup.

While there's pros and cons to both, I'm not of the mind that Mod Organizer is the best mod utility to start with. I think it's a bit better down the road when you've hit the limits and problems of the more basic mod tools that just dump poo poo directly into data files. If you're not fairly familiar with how the folder structure works in Skyrim, or how MO works its magic, then when it doesn't work you won't know why. I'm sure that's a minority opinion, but I stand by it. If you know and understand how it works, then of course it's the better option, but if you're coming from the console modding scene, or never modded before, I think it's versatility is lost because it obscures the mod loading mechanics a bit.
