Gaz-L posted:I like my XBOne, and while I'm probably gonna get a PS4 at Xmas for Uncharted, I can't fathom how the PS4, even if it is the better console, ended up getting the bigger share based on how lovely the PS3 UI and how slow and crappy the online elements were. Like, who had a PS3 and a 360 and went "Yup, I want to trust the one where I have to wait a full 5 minutes before I can even browse the store" Well you're using the one with an even slower UI, so it shouldn't really be that difficult to figure out? But really it shouldn't be surprising people bought the more powerful one that cost less.

The only thing about the ps4 I like more than my xbone is the Facebook integration. Goddamnit, Microsoft, how did you lose Facebook when it was so great I the 360.

We're dangerously close to bursting into an actual console war here, so let me just say: The Wii U has the best selection of games of the current gen.

Actually the best console of this gen is the 3DS. At least the one with the most, best games.

I really, really hated the XBox One's interface. It's ugly, slow, covered in ads, and it was really difficult to find things without using a Kinect, even with later revisions. While I agree that XMB could be slow (particularly the internet stuff), it's better than the XB1 interface, and the PS4 interface improves on it a lot. Both consoles need to get some better internet, though. Downloading stuff is comically slow, especially when Steam seems to saturate my connection. That MS decided that all first-party XB1 games will also be available on Windows 10 pretty much sealed my decision to dump the thing. My PC is better than an XB1 by far. Picross 3D 2 just came out for 3DS, so I agree it is the best, but it wants me to buy an Amiibo reader (or an The New 3DS) to get all the puzzles which is some bullshit.

Millar is doing the whole cattle call for unpublished talent thing again this year. A different crop of stories. I didn't submit last year, I got discouraged because I am a tender snowflake that crys a lot but I am going to submit something this year. Reading through the stories you can submit to I have come to the conclusion Millar is kind of a lovely writer. I liked Huck. But Superior is pretty bland, Empress is boring, and Supercrooks is... ugh. I have a huck, superior and empress story that I am working on. Anyone else gonna try? The quality of last years annual was dire so give it a go. http://forums.millarworld.tv/t/millarworld-annual-2017-writer-submission-thread/7735

I've owned every single Nintendo console and handheld except for the Virtual Boy, and I'm not a gamer. I look at them less as consoles and more as just overly expensive Mario games because that's pretty much what I buy them for. I bought a PS3 for blurays when it first came out and it was years before I ever actually owned a video game for it. I eventually got hooked on the Uncharted games and eventually bought a PS4 pretty much only because of that. I have tried out a few other games to try and justify that purchase though.

The PS3's blu-ray stuff is always funny to me because when it came out everyone was making fun of it as though blu-rays were the next betamax. And then...they weren't.

At the time it made some sort of sense. HD-DVD was much cheaper to manufacture as it only required a minor upgrade of existing equipment and was backed by a bigger group of studios (including the porn industry). That Sony had a history of designing failed media formats (Betamax, Minidisc) only added to that.

So to clarify is this thread to talk about comic books in a more freeform way than in specific threads, or is it for people to talk about literally everything other than comics with their comic book crew? Just in case either way, I really don't understand what everyone sees in Unfollow, and I don't see why people don't like this season of Mr. Robot. And I think I have a stye on my right eyelid.

It's also here to make sure goons read good comics and stop being shitheads. Also I couldn't really get into the first season of Mr Robot and stopped half way but have been told to give it another try. Also a fan of Breaking Bad tried his hardest to make sure to make sure I didn't enjoy the show and I stopped watching it halfway mid season 1 too.

Unfollow was a boring dull cliched story wrapped in an interesting frame. I liked the new Mr. Robot but it is about emotions and loneliness rather than hacking and fighting the outside world so it is a different flavour than before. /unwarranted opinions

Mr. Robot is really good and if you're being put off by how it's obviously Fight Club with hackers give it another try, because it knows that's what you're thinking and that's not the twist. They even end an episode by playing a cover of "Where is My Mind" just to be cheeky about the connection.

I watched Wicker Man and it was really bad, although the BEES scene remains funny. I thought the original was just ok but at least it did a good job juxtaposing free love against hardline catholicism/moralizing in a way that made you think the protagonist was an rear end, but still made you feel sorry for him at the end. The new one is just like "nuke this island, gently caress everyone". I also finished watching Helix, it's a stupid show about idiots, see above re: nuke.

I got Helix recommended to me ages ago but I had to stop watching it because I couldn't deal with how goddamn stupid every single character is in every single possible way, except maybe the bad corporate guy because I couldn't get far enough through the show for them to reveal what his plan was, but it was probably stupid like "I'll call in the CDC because all they seem good at is ensuring this disease gets everywhere".

It's much dumber and you can read Wikipedia for the synopsis. Note that no one seemed to update the page with a summary of season 2, because it managed to be dumber and kinda boring, which at least the first season avoided somewhat.
