they have updated the maps a lot in poe. acts 1, 2 and 3 were consolidated and made way more straightforward. monster density is also pretty good by the end of A1. a2 and 3 used to be a horrible mess lol i dont mind nightmare and hell in poe because the density skyrockets and they even put new monsters everywhere, elite mobs also start getting more dangerous and you see more rogue exiles and special events. i say def give it a try if you last played it like 4 major updates ago, the game has transformed a lot.

gonna play poe till i work later . ppl bring up the passive tree but its very easy to navigate. if you pick the big hulk dude he starts near a bunch of health, armor, melee dmg etc. the only real choice you have to make is "do i wanna do 2h/dual wield/sword n board" and then you just keep picking what sounds cool, the tree is great at guiding you into a focus

if you put faster attacks/cast speed on a movement skill like shield charge, whirling blade, leap, the fire charge thing etc. it makes the whole animation a lot quicker and you can just zoom through zones. it owns

i wouldnt recommend scion unless youre going for some very specific crazy build. she starts in the very middle near weak nodes and eventually branches to where the other classes start, left me feeling like "well i wish i just picked the witch"

if you go dex/int you can focus on crits and gaining power charges/curses for more crits, theres also a lot of cool elemental melee skills. if you go dex/str you want attack speed+damage+armor etc. every1 has some kind of versatility node tho that adds to their off-stats, you can also buy most skills from vendors very cheap so you can try everything.

also the only stuff you can buy is cosmetic. you can also get stash space but you get an incredibly generous amount of it to start with and never really need more if you just play seasons

if youre somehow overflowing with currency after putting in 300 hours in one week like retard larry you can also trade up, the vendors let you buy the next currency tier w/ nearly everything. ex. 3x wis for portal, 7x portal for transmute etc.

yeah if you want lots of crit you need an int investment as well, there are nodes (nerds?) that just give you +20/30 int and stuff so dont sweat it too much

the bonus treasure key is awesome because you're lucky if the boss drops more than 1 lol. but yeah the optional bosses in the lab do nooot gently caress around at all

the lab is pretty easy to clear in like 10 minutes but it's also really fun to fully explore and find all the secret chests and poo poo, i love it. it's just really lovely that if you die once that's it

I dont think 2h barbarian guy is as fun as dual wielding shadow but I havent gotten a whole lot of abilities yet so it may open up. i think in a2 you get an ability called sunder, it shoots an anime wave out that hits hard, and the hits cause shockwaves for even more dmg so it completely shreds groups. you also get an earthquake and poo poo, they added way more interesting high level melee skills
