Well, not necessarily in this adaptation. The showrunners have said that they're taking some liberties with the character, and some of the promo materials around SDCC referred to him as the Spirit of Vengeance, IIRC. Though the latter might not be accurate, as some of these sorts of things have been off before.

That's... not how these things work. If the lawyers have determined that Fox has the rights to Character Y based on his/her historic association with the X-Men (or FF) property, they retain the rights regardless of what Marvel does with the character in the comics going forward.

I don't really have anything against Dove Cameron. It's just that a friend convinced me to hatewatch Descendants 2 and I'm still scarred by the experience. Trust me, absolutely nothing about that is enjoyable even on a hatewatch level if you're outside the target demographic.
