I've been reading the dev blogs as they come out, and it seems like they plan on having something called 'the Purge' sweep through the map at random intervals. Basically an NPC horde led by some of the major villains from the books. Those signal fires you see all over the place will alert you when they're on their way, and you're supposed to be able to do things to influence where they hit. Seems like good fun, if they pull it off. Also, they're supposedly working on story content, but are explicitly keeping it out of early access. Presumably, to keep people from running through it and spoiling it on a dozen youtube channels before the game is even out.

It also hasn't been completed or released yet. I'd wait for a few more major features to come out before deciding if you want to make the plunge. I'm having a great time playing with a small group of friends, but the game is still at the point where you have to make your own fun. No idea if the price is slated to go up after it's out of early access, but there's still plenty of time left to wait and see.
