I want to say that we can fight it. That through education and persistence we can fight poo poo like this and make a difference. But I can't.

NPR recently ran a segment on 1A about how the internet was supposed to be the greatest educational tool, and that information would flow like never before. But, instead, it's mostly turned into a series of camps and tribes that often confirm our biases rather than stop them, and even given voice to worse ideas that were once on a downward spiral.

So, yeah, we are kinda hosed.

Korea has a ton of great fried chicken spots, which is awesome as they mostly also do delivery so if you are feeling lazy you can just ring up and get fried chicken to your apartment quick.

Having been to one large event and a handful of smaller ones, the SCA people I've ran into tend to be decent folks who are usually just happy to have more people to dress up in silly outfits and smack with sticks. Then again, pretty much every resource talks about how they don't tolerate hate symbols even in historical context. They had a dust up a few years back with 'problematic imagery' (straight-up swastikas under the guise of authenticity) being worn by a king and queen from SoCal, who ended up abdicating and pretty much kicked within a month, and the person who made it getting a blacklist at large. It's still lovely and one of the reasons I've yet to actually join or pay dues, but they at least seemed to respond to it better than a lot of places I've seen.

I could have worded that better and I realize that. I apologize and will edit the original post. The original idea was that Freep devotion to Trump is so deep that it would extend to cheerleading Putin as he bombs civilians. As I said, I hosed up.

The Freep Response has been predictable. Trump (and by extension Putin) can do no wrong, so everything else revolves around that idea. Even when you 'well, actually' the Nazi invasion of Czechoslovakia and start complimenting Hitler.
