I don't know that much about DC stuff but I did watch the Flashpoint animated movie and in that there is only so much speed force to go around or something which made it impossible for him to get back to his time until he dealt with Zoom. Been a long time since I saw it but it was something like that. I could see something similar happening here. Barry using the speed force is taking it from Kid Flash.
