I have to wonder what Donald Trump being found in an actual Playboy video will do to the Evangelical side of things.
It's one of their bigly sins, porn, and it's about as shocking to them as eating babies.

The answer, as always, is nothing, while the actual methodist person of faith gets slandered, I know.

But I have to wonder if it'll get traction.

Donald Trump contributed 10 times as much money as was allowed by law to the 2006 gubernatorial campaign of Florida’s then-Attorney General Charlie Crist, according to a Huffington Post review of state campaign finance records.

The donations that exceeded the limit were all made on the same day through companies Trump owns. Trump did not disclose the connection, and regulators did not identify the gifts as coming from Trump. All told, Trump made nine contributions of $500 to Crist’s campaign on Aug. 25, 2005, for a total of $4,500. At the time, the maximum allowable donation in Florida from an individual or corporation was $500, a sum that Trump had already given Crist’s campaign as a personal donation in June of that year.

HuffPost first identified three of the nine companies last month, and has since identified another six Trump companies that made contributions over the legal limit. “It’s pretty clear in this case that Trump was secretly buying influence without regard to the rules,” said Brendan Fischer, associate counsel at the nonprofit Campaign Legal Center.

The donations reveal the previously unknown scale of Trump’s illegal giving to attorneys general in Florida, a state where Trump has a variety of business interests and a long record of legal problems. They also illustrate how far back Trump’s disregard for campaign finance rules extends — to long before 2013, when his charitable foundation made a now-infamous $25,000 donation to the campaign of Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

According to Fischer, Trump appears to have committed a number of violations. “One is Trump exceeding the $500 campaign contribution limit,” and possibly doing it multiple times, he said. “Then there’s the possibility that Trump violated disclosure requirements, which exist so that voters can see who is supporting a candidate. And under Florida’s straw donor ban, you can’t use an LLC to evade the contribution and disclosure laws.”

The newly discovered companies include Indian Hills Development; the Mar-A-Lago Club, Trump’s private club in Palm Beach; TIHT Commercial LLC, a holding company Trump registered at a non-existent office on Eighth Avenue in New York; 845 UN Limited Partnership, a company Trump used to develop a building in Manhattan in the 1990s; 220 Management Company, a holding company Trump operated for a building his father, Fred Trump, owned; and Trump International Golf Club LLC, a Trump golf course in West Palm Beach, 15 minutes from Mar-A-Lago.

All but one of the companies appear on Trump’s financial disclosure form, an accounting of a candidate’s financial interests that is mandated by the Office of Government Ethics. At the time Trump made the seemingly illegal donations, he had a number of major projects underway in Florida whose success or failure relied on a friendly state government.

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is facing a fundraising scandal after a Telegraph investigation exposed how key supporters were prepared to accept illicit donations from foreign backers.

Senior figures involved with the Great America PAC, one of the leading "independent" groups organising television advertisements and grassroots support for the Republican nominee, sought to channel $2 million from a Chinese donor into the campaign to elect the billionaire despite laws prohibiting donations from foreigners.

In return, undercover reporters purporting to represent the fictitious donor were assured that he would obtain “influence” if Mr Trump made it to the White House.
Last week Eric Beach, the PAC’s co-chairman, confirmed to the reporters at an event in Las Vegas that their client's support would be "remembered" if Mr Trump became president.

It will be big news, it just dropped today. I was under the impression that the premiums were going up double digits on a yearly basis - or was that just fox news using worst case scenarios as averages in previous years?

http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2016/10/obamacare-premiums-will-increase-about-25-year

quote:

The federal government announced today that Obamacare premiums are set to rise 22 percent next year. Charles Gaba estimates that premiums will go up 25 percent. Those numbers are close enough that there's probably no need to dive into the weeds to see if there are any gotchas. Premiums really are going up an average of about 25 percent next year. Here are five things to keep in mind:

Yikes. That's a big number.
The biggest increase is 145 percent in Phoenix. I have no idea why. However, you can be sure that Donald Trump and others will be bleating about Obamacare premiums going up "as much as 145 percent." (For the record, the lowest increase is -12 percent in Indianapolis. See Table 13 here for a full list.) https://aspe.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/212721/2017MarketplaceLandscapeBrief.pdf
The vast majority of people on Obamacare have incomes under 400 percent of the poverty level. All of them are shielded from ever paying more than a cap set by income level. At the lowest income level, they never have to pay more than 3 percent of their income. At the highest income level (about $100,000 for a family of four) they never have to pay more than 9 percent of their income.1 This means that in practice, the amount people pay will rise considerably less than 25 percent.2
The 25 percent number assumes that you keep the same policy that you have in 2016. You can do better if you shop around. For example, HHS estimates that if everyone switched to the lowest-price plan in their metal level (bronze, silver, etc.), premiums would go down an average of 20 percent. Combined with point #3, this means that nearly all individuals will be able to avoid huge increases if they're really in dire financial straits.
As painful as this is, all that's happening is that after being underpriced for years, Obamacare premiums are finally catching up to the original estimates from the Congressional Budget Office. A couple of months ago I suggested that premiums still had another 25 percent increase ahead, and this would likely be spread out over a couple of years. I was right about the size of the hike, but it's happening in one year instead of two. The good news is that these prices hikes truly should help to stabilize the market and prevent more insurers from abandoning Obamacare. It might even prod a few new ones to enter the market.

So that's that. Basically, this increase is painful, but was probably inevitable as insurers got more experience with the market. Subsidies and caps should shield a lot of people from the full pain of the increases, and the higher premium levels should be good for the long-term health of Obamacare. As for Republicans who plan to yell and scream about this, any of them who are serious about reducing the suffering of folks who will be hurt by higher premiums has my full support for boosting subsidy levels.

1The precise numbers for 2017 are 3.06 percent and 9.69 percent.

2There are other subsidies too that shield people from premium hikes. In particular, Andrew Sprung will be mad at me if I don't mention Cost Sharing Reductions, which many people can use to buy silver plans at reasonable prices.
