And yeah, I still need to actually play War of the Lions, I bought it way back in the day but that slowdown on ability use was basically nails on a chalkboard for me and I barely made it at all into it.

You can buy the mobile port where the slowdown is fixed!

They fixed it by basically putting the game in permanent fast forward which is kind of irritating in cutscenes when everyone is running around like they're the Flash. Unless there's some menu option somewhere to slow it down (I only just got to the world map this morning). The control scheme also isn't great but it's functional.

Who cares about important characters relevant to the story. Give me Worker 8. Of course, Worker 8 would pretty much just have Monk and Combat...but still, he's a giant robot and therefore is great and I want him.

I couldn't let another chance for Excalibur IV pass me by so...

Y'shtola's Omnirod is good, and I have my first XIV synergy weapon. This is my second Red XIII weapon in three days, which is a little weird, but will be useful for future CMs. Echo's SB is pretty good I think and I guess maybe FFI synergy might help someday? It's a weird pull, I guess I'm happy with it but I dunno.

I tried the CM but couldn't handle it without a medica so...just stomped it with my A team.

U++ was rough at first, but once Faris got enough gauge for her BSB, it became a lot easier. With Full Breakdown/Power Breakdown/Protectga/SG/Trueblade of Legend, his physicals only did 200 damage, and his magic attacks only 900. :v:

Again a very likpatous story
I already have Faris, Bartz, Rinoa, Cloud and Ramza's BSBs, so hopefully I won't pull any of those. Well, Ramza and Rinoa's wouldn't be bad since I could combine them, but I'd still rather get something new.

Leviathan was terrible, since I have no petrify resist accessories. I also completely screwed up the first fight, accidentally keeping Faris in the back row so she was dealing garbage damage, and forgetting to wear water resist accessories on top of that. I won, but I didn't master it, so I had to do it again. It went much better the second time, didn't even petrify anyone (though I gave Selphie Esuna just in case).

Since I'm behind on Nightmares, I just did Quadruple Foul today, and it went very well. Being able to stack Maria's Song/Shout was a huge help, and so was someone saying what to do in plain English. The official Reddit guide explained the barriers and stated what stat to lower which got me confused, so someone going "Hey use Power on top and Armor on bottom, then Magic on top and Mental on bottom the second time" was appreciated.

I guess now I need to figure out how to take on the Tonberries.

Twelve by Pies

Again a very likpatous story
Okay, how the gently caress do you do the Tonberries? I can handle the Tonberries themselves just fine, they're no problem. The problem is that when the Tonberry King shows up, I'm completely out of hones on everything I have, and then he just stabs me to death repeatedly while I can barely damage him. Here's who I've got:

Locke: Thief's Revenge (R2), Lifesiphon (R3)
Tidus: Dismissal (R3), Lifesiphon (R3)
Lightning: Powerchain (R3), Full Charge (R3)
Selphie: Protectga, Curaja
Tyro: Slowga, Halting Rumba

Locke has Valiant Strike, Tidus has Slice and Dice, Lightning has Crushing Blow, Tyro has SG, Selphie has Dreamstage.

Is it just a matter of me needing more hones, or am I doing something wrong here?

e: I realize Tyro has no offensive skills in my party, which probably cuts damage down significantly, but I don't know how else to make a party while still filling the medal requirements. Locke/Tidus/Lightning are the only 3 Celerity users I have at a decent level, I know Rikku gets Dancer, so maybe I just need to level different guys?

Dammit, I was down to the last sliver of health on Kaiser Dragon, had gotten the water/lightning requirements, and I accidentally pressed attack instead of defend with Krile.

But at least I know I can do it. Now I just gotta keep trying again and again until I get lucky.

Twelve by Pies

Again a very likpatous story
Yes, Kaiser Dragon is toast! Mastered it too! Took a few S/Ls of course, and I had a fight where AGAIN I pressed attack instead of defend on Krile, but it's done and I never have to do it again. Having Hope and Rinoa's BSBs was a huge help, as was having Sheepsong, and for healing I used Rosa with Wrath and that kept Divine Heal ready to go at a moment's notice, so I was able to RW SG for damage mitigation.

Necrophobe...can wait a bit, I think. I can't even handle Tonberries at the moment so Necrophobe is not worth attempting at the moment I feel.

I do now have a sweet Meltdown ability at least!

How the hell do you beat Kaiser Dragon? I have enough materials to create Meltdown, but I usually can't make it to the 2nd phase on that guy. The only mage BSSB I have is Rinoa's, I also have Minwu's insta-medica.

This was my strategy, which worked great, though it does depend on a particular loadout.

Hope: Chain Thundaga (R2), Waterja (R3), Battleforged
Krile: Maduin (R2), Ixion (R2), Dr. Mog's Teachings
Rinoa: Chain Blizzaga (R3), Chain Firaga (R2), Magic Madness
Rosa: Curaja (R4), Wrath (R3), Ace Striker
Edea: Thundaja (R3), Bioga (R3), Witch of Succession

RW: Sentinel's Grimoire

Phase one: The first character to get a turn uses SG, unless it's Krile (who uses Sheepsong) or Rosa (who uses Wrath). Halfway through Krile's Sheepsong cast, everyone starts casting, with Hope prioritizing Chain Thundaga. Rosa keeps using Wrath, since unless Kaiser Dragon uses Venomist, anything else only does 900-1200 damage with SG up, and regen brings that up quick. After casting Ixion twice, Krile holds off so she doesn't accidentally hit the crystal in phase 2, but everyone else keeps blasting, with Hope keeping at least one Chain Thundaga in reserve.

Phase two: whoever has the correct element casts at the crystal first (unless it's earth, since I didn't bring earth abilities and they weren't necessary), everyone else blasts with whatever. Krile uses Maduin as much as possible to build up for another Sheepsong, unless it's in the lightning phase, in which case she uses the two remaining Ixions. Rosa uses Divine Heal/Curaja when necessary, and Wrath if she can sneak it in. Right after he switches to his second element, someone casts SG (all his attacks ignore RES in phase 3 so SG isn't important there). Since you want to hit the crystal at least three times, the second phase is where I started holding off on some casts, since his health was getting fairly low (phase 3 starts at 30%). If he hadn't hit both lightning and water by the fourth elemental shift, I just S/L'd, since it's not worth waiting longer than that.

Phase three: Rosa spams Divine Heal/Curaja, Rinoa and Hope popped their BSBs. Krile's out of hones at this point so she just defended and cast Sheepsong when she had the gauge for it. Edea just continues casting whatever she has left, and that's the end.

Lightning Dive absolutely destroyed the U+, I took Flan Master down in two rounds thanks to it.

U++ was a bit more difficult. I have decent FFIV synergy in general, but my best magic weapon is...an Ice Rod++. This meant I didn't have the damage output to finish off the dolls before they could combine, making the fight much more of a pain.

Ended up not using either of those strategies, but I still managed to pull it off. Just took me not being dumb with equipment.

Note: actual RW used was Vessel of Fate.

So Edge didn't last long, as he was only level 50. He did get off an Eblan Dual Wield against Flan Master for a little over 15k damage before he went down at least. Rydia was first to summon the RW and then it was the Spellstrike/Bahamut (and then Meteor) combo as it lasted. Cecil and Rosa put up mitgation and Cecil did weak SCs before he was taken out. If he had survived he would've been the second RW summoner.

What helped the most though as opposed to my first failed attempt was giving Kain and Rosa lightning resist accessories. That made all the difference. Oh, and getting lucky with the RNG and not having Flan Master reflect Flare off himself to kill a party member. That helped too.

I really, really need more magical equipment synergy for IV.

Ahriman wasn't bad at all. I got worried because at the beginning of the fight despite my attacks doing at least 5k damage, it looked like its life bar was barely moving. That changed after I got off Faris' BSB and OK's SSB, but the real champion was Cloud with Climhazzard and Finishing Touch.

Finally got into MP now that there's substantial rewards. Went to Dark Dragon and I had a competent party so things went well! For the most part, nobody was hitting the dragon after I put it to sleep with Ramza's Phantasm. It got a bit rougher at the end as a Cloud could only use Lifesiphon/Drain Strike, so it kept waking up, but the healing was good and someone brought along a SG Tyro.

However, I am slightly annoyed I couldn't do better. I wasn't aware your SBs reset to the default when you first start MP, so even though my Ramza knows Tailwind and Shout, I was unable to use them in battle due to that. It's frustrating because Tailwind would have helped a lot.

Luneth: Blizzaga Strike, Aerora Strike, Spellblade Master
OK: Powechain Full Charge, Ace Striker (Onion Slice)
Ingus: Power BD/Magic BD, Secrets of the Qu
Arc: Protectga, Curaja, Dr. Mog's Teachings (Renewing Rains)
Desch: Chain Thundaga, Meltdown, Impetuous Youth (Bolt of the Ancients)

RW: Shout

Arc's magic blink saved me from two Tsunamis, and he just cast Protectga and cured as needed. He did go down at the very end to a Flare, but at that point I'd already won. Luneth hit weaknesses when he could, and Spellblade Master triggered quite a bit which was great, as it got me through Salamander quickly. OK just did the PC/FC combo, and broke out Onion Slice when his gauge was full. Ingus just did breaks and regular attacks, but was definitely necessary. Desch just used regular attacks to build up his gauge until he could let loose Bolt of the Ancients on Kraken, then cast Chain Thundagas. Meltdown was a champ against Titan, and I got lucky he never used Quake, just regular attacks and Flare three times, only knocking a character out once (that being Arc, right before OK's Onion Slice took Titan down).

Fun stuff, was expecting it to be a lot tougher than it was, and admittedly it would have been much tougher if I'd had a Quake or two used against me.
