goddamnedtwisto posted:I'm not aware of a single case where someone possessing but not distributing CAI has received a custodial sentence (absent aggravating factors) since the end of the Operation Ore fiasco. I've been involved in cases where people with a lot less money and holding a lot more images have received *lesser* sentences. I will admit I might be wrong. But this man in his job had access to children. I'm sure that some of the lesser sentences did not involve people with access to children.

Oh certainly, but access to children is not itself an aggravating factor unless that access was used to obtain or produce the images. I think it might possibly be one of the few things that you, I, and Her Majesty's Constabulary are in agreement on, that it's ridiculous that judges are specifically barred from viewing access to children as grounds for a heavier sentence.

If you might feel through my posts that I have a hatred of middle class posh people with money, you are right. Look at everything great the English Working Class has ever created- free health care, trade unions, free education, democracy ( not sure about that one, but Cromwell gets a pass ), socialism, and the pork pie. All created by the English Working Class. Anybody can be a member of the English Working Class. All you have to do is be treated like poo poo at your job and be paid shite wages.

Baron Corbyn posted:Maybe Extreme0 is the only Scottish person they know? SNP chat is boring, everyone knows the only good nationalist party are Plaid Cymru with their plans for an independent socialist Wales. I've already stated that Plaid Cymru are better then the SNP numerous times. OwlFancier posted:Because the reduction of the vast majority of the UK population to "england" is stupid. And yet the majority of it has already voted differently then Scotland when it came to the General Election & Brexit. OwlFancier posted:The UK as a whole is wildly varied in terms of politics and demographics, trying to slap national labels onto parts of it and using it as a meaningful separator is absurd and serves to divide natural allies. It's not absurd, it's what happens when groups are different from one another when their views conflict. To say that we are both the same because there wouldn't be national labels when they are gone when we, in your own words "wildly vary" is wrong. OwlFancier posted:Nationalism, as always, is poison, and this is a good example of why. I am not unified with someone because we both live in "england" and you are not separated from me because you live in "scotland". I never said that I blame you for this mess. I don't blame people that voted differently from others in the country they live in if that country voted for something stupid. But I will still continue to put them in that group of people I hate if they still share common place with those people like they are common allies because they have the same national label or origin. It may come as a shock to some but I'm not a Scottish Patriot or Nationalist even though how I express myself makes me look like one. I hate the people here for voting with poo poo I disagree with just like I do with England But I have less reasons to hate Scotland then England as of right now. If I had more reasons to hate Scotland then England, then I would do just that. Hate on it. OwlFancier posted:The people I despise are not well identified by their nationality, and to be honest I have more sympathy for most people in the UK than anything. You share sympathy with people that will ruin you. They will stab you in the back like they always do because they can not be trusted. Why share sympathy when you can show disgust instead. Otherwise the people you sympathise will only disappoint you further. Pissflaps posted:Leading up to the independence referendum I was told several times that I was 'not Scottish enough' to share an opinion on the subject - despite being part Scottish. Using blood and soil as a reason to get involved does not change my opinion that you aren't Scottish. You claim nationalism is a disease which it rightly is but here you are using the same excuse any ethnic nationalist would use as an excuse to get involved. Pissflaps posted:You raise a good point. Maybe keep that one. Ah so all we have to do is blow up and kill people so we have an excuse to keep our devolution. Gotcha.

forkboy84 posted:Lets not talk about the new report on welfare sanctions What's there to talk about, really? The decision to implement sanctions was clearly complete horseshit when it was made, designed purely to show how 'tough' the government (via its' subcontracted lackeys) could be on benefit scroungers. The Govt clearly aren't going to change their minds on them, despite spending more to implement them than they've retrieved through sanctions, because it's great press for them. "Look - see how much they twitch when we boot them in the ribs!"

People are products of their circumstances, improve the circumstances, improve the person. As I can understand the circumstances, I can understand and sympathise with the person. It is appealing to want a simple, external explanation for the problems in your life, I have one, people who vote for xenophobic and self destructive policies have one. Our difference lies in the productiveness of our answers and the ideas from our environment that we have internalized. Chance, more than anything, not wilful immorality.

Leggsy posted:The broader point is that in times of divisiveness such as the referendum, extremists on both sides try to leverage both sides of the campaign to deliver their hateful messages. So you can't just point a finger at one side of the debate and say "they were the real racists", it's simply a minority of tossers on both sides. As irritating, ignorant and occasionally worrying in its implications as the debate around the Indy Ref could (and can) be, it appears the paragon of enlightened civil discourse compared to foul and pestilent congregation of vapours that comprised the EU referendum debate. Pissflaps posted:I think it's time to dissolve regional assemblies and parliaments and give power back to local authorities. I think this is the longest Flaps post I've ever seen. It's an interesting suggestion and thought experiment on another way to devolve power. Though for someone usually so precise in word choice it's a problematic use of "caused", underplaying the extent to which divisions pre-existed devolution, and is certainly an extreme and fringe opinion of devolution's utility. When I was a lad I did quite a bit of fencing. I was the only skinhead there and scared the poo poo out of the posh boys. Mensur is pretty hardcore, and I didn't know Marx got up to that. One more reason he's cool, I guess.

In order to educate the people in this forum- I give you England your England by George Orwell. Yes, he was a posh public school boy, a copper and thought the Working Class smelled bad. But this is his best writing- and a surprising amount of it is still applicable. http://orwell.ru/library/essays/lion/english/e_eye Read it.

https://www.crowdpac.co.uk/campaigns/558/labour-first Labour First are doing a crowdfunder to try to raise money for a campaign manager to fight "the left of the party", because obviously that's where the energy needs to go right now. It's doing surprisingly poorly given all those people who hate Corbyn and want him out.
