This is a great tool for me as I try to learn my film history, see what's popular today in past years and decades, and keep a watchlist instead of a list of films on Notepad.

I have a short documentary in my watchlist that has zero watches (The Stone Carvers, 1984) if that counts for low watch counts. Don't steal my thunder and watch it

Actually taking a look, one other person has watched "Satan's Choice" (Canadian biker gang doc) and six others have watched "Unleashed! A Dog Dancing Story" which is crazy because it was on Netflix and it's a real-life Waiting for Guffman but with dog dancing. Highly recommended.

Oh dang, I had an SA name change and the letterboxd account name in the OP is broken. I'm https://letterboxd.com/IdiotBear/ and having a mini-feed of people checking in movies has led me down some decent paths. I've also noticed that if you put something relatively obscure in your top movies, other people who are listed as "fans" may find you and add you, and you can find weird junk that way.

Ingmar terdman

I should get into the habit of doing occasional themed top 4's but I'll never stick with it. Anyway

Awhile back we were playing the game of "find your least-seen movie" and I just noticed I have one watched by "just you!"

When I started an account I just sorted all the most popular films year by year and clicked watched on a page or two per year. Between that and reading through lists like the above, I think I got a decent handle on life before letterboxd

Ingmar terdman
Jul 24, 2006

If it's on there and I've watched it I log it. It's all about clicking through on these films/cast/crew/viewers and going down a rabbit hole of lists. There are a few people I follow that mostly watch weird rare shorts

not sure why I made this but I learned that jack nicholson has a lot of yellow colored movie posters

filmstruck had a few for awhile, and then his pre-Mondo Trasho shorts were on exhibit in Baltimore this fall. I think all of that put me into a phase and I listened to some of his commentary tracks, which are often as funny and captivating as the films. Totally admit that my lineup looks like a 15 year old w film school ambitions

I don't really write reviews but this was such an experience I started taking notes, which I have cleaned up a bit and dropped here https://letterboxd.com/idiotbear/film/ernest-borgnine-on-the-bus/

1 Weird Trick I use to find stuff that I would never hear of otherwise is to look up who has a certain obscure or weird film in their top 4 and then crawl their feeds and reviews. Dug up a lot of weird movies that way

If you log the mst3k versions on there you won't get an accurate percentage when you're browsing lists of trash films, if you do that

Ingmar terdman

Never really thought about it until I tried to check in Apocalypse Now Redux but I guess boxd policy is to have different cuts under a single entry. I think there's a strong enough case that an mst ep is recut and reworked enough to be a distinct work

I flagged about 50 films I really liked from the past decade and tried to whittle them down to 20. Unintentionally made a list of movies that I will either rewatch at any time, or that I need to go back and rewatch:
