I was thinking of Brandon Cronenberg for a modern example, but he has two 2018 projects listed

Is there any way to log a rewatch of a film you've already rated without overwriting the rating? I watched the original theatrical version of Blade Runner for the first time, so you can imagine my quandary. Logging this watch with no score would be fine, but since I've rated it before, I can't seem to do that.

That version doesn't deserve a five star liked diary entry, even if it's explained away! Anyway, I found a solution in adjusting the rating for the logging, then bringing the old score back with the box on the right hand side of the film's page. Still, the option to leave a rewatch blank should be there.

I'm committing to a review of 5-8 words for at least every eighth movie.

Anyone find the weirdos who use reviews of unreleased movies as comment sections to be... weird? After watching Lion, I clicked on the director's upcoming Mary Magdalene movie for no particular reason and found this bunch https://letterboxd.com/film/mary-magdalene-2018/ and through someone there, https://letterboxd.com/film/oceans-8/ I suppose there's no harm in it when they're buried after the movie comes out, but I say either make a general comments section or turn reviews for upcoming movies off. Are rewatches broken for anyone else? Just saw something for the second time in four days and whatever I do, the rewatch entry removes the first watch from the diary. Pretty sure I wasn't just editing the first entry. edit: Worked it out. 'Log again' instead of 'Add a review.' Spatulater bro! posted:Cheating towards... what end? I didn't realize this was some sort of contest. I have a contest with myself to raise my number every year without inflating it with TV, shorts, comedy specials, special features. Aiming to break 200 in 2018. I also use the thing to figure out how many feature films I've seen in my life, so I'm pretty strict about it. edit: I discovered the site through the Film Junk podcast, who probably coloured my idea of using it. I think they lay out their commandments here http://filmjunk.com/2014/07/08/film-junk-bonus-podcast-movie-organization-manifesto-part-4/ \/ Egbert Souse posted:How so? I know that rule is just self-imposed. I was mocking harshness since the poster was saying shorts would "bloat" their numbers. No problem with people using the site how they want. Except logging and "reviewing" movies that haven't come out yet like they're comment sections. That's the devil. Teenage Fansub fucked around with this message at 02:14 on Aug 14, 2018 |

I haven't seen it, but how about Hesher with JGL? Not really metal, but I always thought Alice Cooper and Aerosmith were really lame choices of bands for Wayne and Garth to pine over. They didn't seem to fit in with their interests and the soundtrack elsewhere in the movies. edit: Cooper was pretty funny, though, so I don't actually mind. The most authentic uses of metal are in Cremaster 2 and 3. Teenage Fansub fucked around with this message at 02:55 on Sep 15, 2018 |

TrixRabbi posted:Gotta consider that in the 70's they were the coolest. Alice Cooper was considered to be a truly dangerous performer before he became a chill radio DJ/restaurant owner. I know, but these are still characters who were teens through the 80's, and it's not like their tastes were otherwise totally antiquated or ignorant of any developments since their childhoods. I think they'd be pretty unimpressed by them by the early to mid 90's. Teenage Fansub fucked around with this message at 23:32 on Sep 20, 2018 |

Wasn't Alice Bishop one of the biggest reviewers on the site? I noticed she changed her avatar, and clicked her profile to see it, and it seems like she's almost entirely wiped her presence. https://letterboxd.com/alicebishop/ Her review blog's down too. I suppose it's no big deal, but I got used to seeing her have top review on most things. Teenage Fansub fucked around with this message at 08:22 on Oct 12, 2018 |

Anyone wanna post their end of year stats? Here's me: https://letterboxd.com/teenage_fansub/year/2018/ I only log features. For the year I'm on 239, which is the highest I've done since signing up. Up from 164 in 2017. Biggest week was during a film festival with 13 entries. No zero movie weeks 28% new releases, 90% first time watches. Best 2018 film is probably a tie between Roma and First Reformed, worst would be Tomb Raider or The Girl In The Spider's Web. Favourite old movie first-time-watch was Experiment In Terror.
