okay so you know how a big reason why we use the electoral college now, is so that areas of smaller population, are indeed represented when it comes to the national election. what we should also do is add electoral votes for different races - like blacks can have 8 electoral college votes, and you can only vote for that rep if u are black. discuss.

So this is actually a thing in India's Loh Sabha, with 70 seats being reserved for Scheduled Castes and a further 40 for Scheduled Tribes of a total of 545+2 for the Anglo-Indian community. The Castes and Tribes are historically disadvantaged groups, but voting on one of these seats is allowed for any group, just not nomination. Add 10 seats for the Native American groups, 10 seats for African Americans, throw the Asian community five over that Chinese railroad labour and Japanese internments, maybe some hosed up poo poo the US pulled in the Philippines while they were in charge there? And five for all the little piss polities like Puerto Rico and various nuclear test atolls that currently have no representation.
