Scarlett Johansson kind of gets naked, but just has a robot camo suit with no nipples, so she's not really...disappointing. 2. Scarlett's Motoko is getting in touch with her sexuality and sharing it with an african woman...which I guess follows the manga slightly because she has lesbian fetishes for some reason. 3. The plot of the movie seems to be about Motoko finding her real (human) identity, even though this was only questioned and or slightly addressed in the first movie, and in SAC she knows she's already human, she just got some enhanced implants that help her become a super special ops agent. Oh and that Depeche Mode cover seems a bit lame. That being said, can't wait for Not Blade Runner 2.

Motoko doesn't have "implants." The only organic parts of her body are her brain and some nerve stems. Her body was destroyed in an accident when she was a child and they had to cut out her brain and put it in a robot body.

It looks better visually than I'd expected, and SJ seems like she did an okay job. But it seems like they put the scripts from all the movies and the TV show in a blender and made a plot smoothie for this film.

Not making any big predictions on this movie, but overall I think it's going to be okay. If it somehow does a slightly better job than I expect it to be, it'll be something like a 6 out of 10. ...7 might be a little stretch.

I didn't really give a poo poo about casting a white person in this movie because they said "well Japan at this time is massively multi-ethnic so we planned for a white actress the whole time." But gently caress she stands out like a sore thumb when she's basically the only white person in the entire film. I thought the whole point of her character was that she was supposed to be a spy you don't notice? "WHO IS IT" "LITERALLY THE ONLY WHITE PERSON" "COOL"

I wonder if what I miss isn't actually cyberpunk but having a sense that the future would be something cooler than our reality of lame suburbs, 'service economy' jobs and slow cars that look fat.
