I was a kid when I lived in Gwinett county (Near Duluth) but my area at least seemed pretty white, with the biggest minority populations being south and east-asian, but then again I was v middle class. That was a long time ago though, I suppose. Demographics can change fast.

So like, we all agree that punching Nazis is good, but I would like to add some nuance to the discussion. Where do you draw the line? Like, letting aside the actual nazis, things like deporting people to violent countries, making people with preexisting conditions uninsurable, and defunding access to women's health care, particularly abortive care, are things that kill people too, just a little less directly. I could see the argument for not directly assaulting a regular conservative, I guess, but what is the appropriate level of resistance? My first instinct an equally indirect violence, like catty bullying at work, or vagueblogging on facebook, but I am not very creative.

Yeah, Americans already spend the most in the world per capita on health care for absolutely abysmal results. Our infant mortality rates are worse than literally every European nation for instance. It gets even worse if you go state by state. Alabama's infant mortality rate, for instance, is compatible to that of Lebanon.

no matter how many people our powerful men kill, the world will go on without us, and that's beautiful too. i would love to see the world in the biological explosion a couple million or so years after the anthropocene extinction wraps up. that's generally what happens after mass extinctions after all. the new stuff would be wild

i just wanna see all the cool new niches and ecosystems that will form. like when all our crops go wild, producing like loving mad, and creating for at least a short time weird super calorie rich thickets, as wheat fields turn into super tall grasslands and bugs and migratory birds have the time of a generation. the empty buildings making dark growing spaces for moss and mushrooms and slime molds and holdfasts for vines. specialist organisms would probably crop up to digest them, like whale carcasses in the ocean

we live in a really cool planet, and life is really clever. the world is violent and scary and full of individual tragedy, but as a system, evolution is absolutely awe inspiring. there will be something after us for sure, and it'll be cooler than we can predict. there's something comforting about that to me, even as attached as i am to this whole "being a human" thing i'm doing. even as scared as i often am for and of my fellow humans. life will go on and it will be strange and awesome in its own way
