This is a Good Thread Upon somewhat recent rewatches, Casino Royale was worse than I remember it, and Quantum of Solace was better than I remember. The one scene in Royale I still don't understand to this day, where after Bond is recovered from his ball scratching session and is offered a drink by Mathis, two random(?) MI6(?) agents zap Mathis and get Bond back? wat I also still don't get why Eva Green offed herself at the end - something about some boyfriend she has/had that, in spite of the time and travel spent with Bond, she still felt strongly enough to sacrifice herself unnecessarily for? And over what, a briefcase of cash? While the main story in Quantum is an underwhelming way of bringing forth what could be a very serious issue of privatization of a nation's water supply, I still really enjoyed how they set up what had great potential as a Spectre-esque organization in Quantum. Setting up Mr. White, the agent in the beginning that said something about having eyes everywhere, and the theater scene of all the Quantum members all was done quite well in building up something that could have been great. Of course all of that was put aside in Skyfall, and then lazily and shittily lumped together under the Spectre umbrella later. Spectre was wholly disappointing, and in typical Bond movie fashion, they bring in a modern issue like government surveillance, but then fail to do anything with it. Governments spying on its citizens are bad, so we're going to have Spectre with all its power and criminal reach.... seek the same power of surveillance?
