Its so popular to hate on Epic right now. People can't resist.

i think part of it is the fact that you can avoid uplay origin and windows store completely. And still have shitloads of good games to play with.
Now epic has stepped in and grabbed a lot of anticipated great indie games. And even worse they have given those indie developers more money to make those games even better/ better marketed.

... only thing you need to do is to install yet another awful games launcher.
Also cant wait for epic 1 year exclusives hit steam once that exclusivity period ends, epic games has done great thing to indie games by giving em more money, i personally dont spend money on epic platform because its still incomplete/brand new/owned by tencent .

Tldr: its easier to ignore the other stores.

there is, but those things arent marketed as much as epic exclusives. And epic has been picking the cream of the crop.
I think epic's approach is both correct and right. But they truly did gently caress up the presentation,
and they should have brought up the point that they are giving developers money more openly because that would actually have been positive PR.

It truly is unique in current time and its kind of throwback to 90's with whole console exclusivity war. Only difference is that ppl arent used to idea of AA budget games having exclusivity.

same with discord maybe, because they let me disable the store part easily, and revenue split seems pretty fair for developer.

im interested to hear if there is some downsides to those stores.

I am predicting CitizenCon will have nothing of substance to show backers, and that is when things are really going to start to go downhill for the project and funding. I still believe though that once funding starts to dry up, is when CIG will be forced to actually get its act together and put out a finished game.

im going to predict a mission involving caves/ banu defender and a new stanton planet.
if they are feeling fancy they will showcase wormhole travel but i doubt it.

i also predict a rant about backers losing faith in these trying times before the show.
After all its a pre-alpha/released.

Some quality posts on that first page from the claim that SC is the only chance at a great space sim for PC (hello ED, NMS, etc) to claiming it was MS's fault that Freelancer wasn't what was promised, when it was only thanks to MS that something actually got released.

a lot of ppl just moved on.
same with lot of great posters like eonwe, gorf, somethingjones,Beer4TheBeerGod etc...
and less greater posters like MoMa, octopede etc...

This saga is old now.

also you need to update star criticism sq42 episode once this saga is finished. Because its downright comical now how many times it has been delayed.
and i feel like there could be another episode one could make about ship mechanics, after all every time they sell a ship there is some kind of scope creep they try to sell with it.
890 jump and the 3 episodes it got in rtv/atv.
Reclaimer and its various salvaging functions that were supposed to come in 1 patch later.
Terrapin and its in depth explanation of smuggling/customs process.
Arrow and racetracks they were building around grim hex same with the Cyclone. etc...
