Me? I don't care for outrage culture. I grew up on Usenet. Nothing fazes me.

When you pay more than a passing attention to Star Citizen you start to lose the concept of the value of money.

It's how backers can poo poo on Elite having a $100 pricing model or bundled games costing $150 but not care about "Cheap" ships in Star Citizen being five hundred dollars. Single ships cost hundreds or thousands of dollars and people are just used to that idea.

It won't fully be realized until the game either finally releases or goes out of business and backers find out what they actually will receive for the money they spent and not what they can dream is possible.

I mean we all mock Clifford and he is a regular thread subject but it's hard to step back and think about how he has spent fifty thousand dollars on internet space ships. Fifty thousand dollars.

When Star Citizen gets poo poo canned before releasing the diehards will blame the "campaign of hate" rather than CIG / Chris Roberts.

I have kind of a bone to pick with some of you in this thread who actually feel bad for anyone that works there. CR and the management gang rightfully get the bulk of the scorn but I think some of you are missing a big part of the picture. This isn't Madoff and a few buds setting up some investment ponzi scheme, this is more akin to a large office building running phishing scams out of India/Florida. A lot of people are involved.

Even the lowliest dev knows what the score is. They know they can't deliver even 1/4 of what Cr promised. They probably justify it to themselves by thinking that they aren't the ones who made the promises.

But they are scum for multiple reasons (not every employee fits every one of these reasons but if you fall into even 1 you are morally culpable)

1. They stay at their job even though they know the game is unable to be delivered even remotely close to as promised. Their entire paycheck is derived from scam money gained under false pretenses. They are aware of this in 2018.
2. They stay at their job even though they are incapable of delivering what their bosses ask. (probably no one is with CRs insane demands but the point stands, its unethical to take money for a job you know you cant do)
3. Many show up on ATVs, streams, etc to perpetuate the scam.

To all the devs at CIG, get a real job. And if you whine that you can't get a job in the games industry, maybe it isn't for you. Because technically speaking you aren't in the games industry right now. You are in the scam/MLM industry. If you whine that you need the money. That doesn't give you the right to take it from others, often mentally ill, under false pretenses. You are scum. If you stayed for an additional 2 weeks after realizing it was a scam. You are scum.

I know it seems harsh but its 2018. Everyone is fully aware of what the score is. I'd love to get some feedback and a cogent explanation from someone in here on why the even lowly QA person at CIG is somehow not a scammer. Without all those employees Chris wouldn't have been able to scam even a small percentage of what was raised. The concept art, PU, etc is what brings in money for the scam on an ongoing basis. They are what makes this possible.

You sound like an rear end in a top hat.

Because I was getting paid to QA a game, which is what I was doing, lovely or not. Should everyone working on games that aren't going to deliver EXACTLY what has been pitched quit?

And yes Peter's QA team are absolutely morally culpable if they knew for a fact that thing X would not be in the game despite advertisements but chose to keep getting paychecks derived from mislead people anyway.

I was being deliberately hyperbolic, as I thought you were but as it turns out you're just a shitcunt on a moral high horse.

First of all, it wasn't a "scam project" it was a game which had features cut or changed, some of which weren't workable and so ended up on the cutting room floor even after being tested and tweaked, eventually the project got cancelled but the writing was on the wall for a while, which for your edification, was an extremely stressful period for a lot of people who put their heart and soul into that project. If that counts as a scam then I guess every game ever made is a scam unless you know one which has delivered exactly on it's initial design document?

Ideally the only way we may ever know how this is functioning is if CryTek gets it to public record during discovery or the trial. I can wrap my head around everything at CIG, including the gross mismanagement, but for the life of me I can't figure out the income methods allowing them to keep the doors open.

The love of guns is more deadly and DOES lead to deaths.

Few things encapsulate CIG's barren imagination more than the design of that terminal UI. Yes, obviously in the future spacefaring societies that run around with Holoscreens on their wrist will return to command line interfaces for their customer-facing kiosks. And yes, certainly it'll display on top what file path that the terminal is accessing because that's totally information a customer would need. It's trying so hard at looking techy that it makes a mockery of the entire SF genre.

Edit: yes I know it's supposed to be paying a hommage to something. But the idea of CIG paying a tongue-in-cheek hommage as opposed to 'ripping off' or 'technobabbling' is not very credible. Paying hommage requires some level of self-awareness.

The last time Chris operated a computer it had a command line interface
