Hello, I am poster, Bicyclops, and I never beat NES classic, Startropics. I have also never finished Maniac Mansion.

Maybe it was a game you rented from Blockbuster, but it had to be returned before you could master it, or maybe it was a game you could only play when visiting your friend who had a Nintendo, but whatever it is, despite the brave new world of emulators, you never got to it. Let's admit it together: some save files are going to remain unfinished, until their adventure log has been erased.

Tell me your NES regrets here.

The only Dragon Quest game I've ever finished is 8. I've also never finished FF5 even after advancing to near the end of the game several times.

I never finished FF12, despite collecting almost all of the Espers and being like 6 hunts away from doing them all. The end just never seemed important.

poo poo myself while playing Mario Party 2 with my sister and best friend from the trailer park and left a brown stain on the floor when I was a kid.

I was one of the idiot babies that tore a big, terrible hole in my hand trying to spin the control stick enough for the shy guy mini-game in the first one. ONe day me and like four other people showed up to school with circular wounds in our palms like stigmata and we were all like "Mario Party, huh?"

I only ever beat the Simpsons Arcade Game because some of the bigger kids kept feeding quarters in for me and them both, and I played it instead of participating in the rest of the birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese, ignoring all of my friends.

One of the other kids ate too much pizza and threw up in the ball pit, but by then I didn't care, because me and the teenagers I didn't know had already taken out Robot Mr. Burns.

I can't beat Contra without the Konami code.

I always used the Konami code when I played the Ninja Turtle games and put it on easy and gave myself a million lives. I never even tried to play it the real way, and I still stole the pizza when my friend deserved it.

I don't think I could even beat Gradius 3 with the Konami code.

I 100% completed Final Fantasy X International Version.

It made me end up hating the game so much I am compelled to tell everyone about it at every opportunity, including during weddings, baby showers and funerals.

On the regular, US version, I made everyone what I considered the best armor, got all the Ultimate Weapons and got every stat except for luck to 255 (I didn't bother with HP because break HP Limit wasn't as good as other armor stuff).

I really, really hate Jumbo Flan.

The refund story reminds me that long after Spore was playable, I was still involved in 20 minute screaming phone calls with EA to reactive Spore, because the DRM on my legal copy had disabled it due to having to reinstall to actually make it sort of work.

Bicyclops
Aug 27, 2004

I have now uninstalled it and thrown away the disc, because even if I get the itch to replay the terrible game, it is now totally beyond support and virtually guaranteed to be unplayable no matter what you do to try to make it work.

I've had to use spoilers in almost every point-and-click adventure game, despite my best efforts... and not even the crazy illogical games that are out there.

Maniac Mansion: played for years as a kid but didn't learn how to beat it until late high school or early college by feeding radioactive water to the plant to make it grow, among other spoilers.

Day of the Tentacle: played in middle school, but couldn't figure out that you had to paint the kumquats red so George Washington would cut down the "cherry" tree.

Grim Fandango: Bought on a Steam sale at age 30 and ended up walking all over town trying to figure out who I needed to talk to about the rusty anchor until I had to go look it up.

I could only play these at a friends house and he got in a fight with his brother one time so I was forced to just sit with his mom for an hour and then go home, so I never finished any of the LucasArts games. I really wanted to finish Indiana Jones and Maniac Mansion

My dad got all the way to Necrosaro in Dragon Warrior 4 and one day he turned on the Nintendo and it just said "Sorry to inform you, but Adventure Log 1 has been erased," and I learned lots of cool swear words.

Bicyclops
Aug 27, 2004

Also one time he was on his way to one of the dungeons in Dragon Warrior 4 and my little brother, who was about 3, saw one of the snake enemies and child-sang "I am a slithery snake, here for your delight, and to poison you!" and right after he finished singing, the snake attacked and poisoned one of my dad's guys, so all three of us brothers were saying "Ha! He poisoned you with music, Dad!" and he kept saying "It's not funny!" and getting angrier and angrier until he turned it off.

My Dad played through all the first Final Fantasy game but got nervous he was going to die at the final boss, so he gave my mom the controller and she beat Chaos.

For some reason we could only ever really convince my Mom to play Dr. Mario, and the three of us walked around in circles doing imitations of the 3 different color germs and then jumping on the floor and rolling around when one of them died. every once in awhile she'd be like WOULD YOU BOYS PLEASE STOP THAT, YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE ME LOSE and that was always when she knew she'd had enough Dr. Mario.

Yeah the blue coins are annoying and I used a gamefaqs guide to find them because it's the worst kind of scavenger hunt.
