The advantage of the DLC for Spider-man was it meant that you didn't have to 100% all the challenges in the main game (and in particular the drat Taskmaster challenges) to unlock all the powers/costumes. You could dip into the DLC to get the tokens you needed to get the stuff you didn't have. On the downside, that bloody Screwball boss fight was designed to make you shatter your controller.
